And these won't ever again.
The belts were still tight so :idontknow:
I really am thinking this one in and out and DRIVE the White GSX in for the same thing. The new engine is on the stand, patiently waiting. IDK. Young man thinking, OLD man body. :ohdamn:

She's out BITCHES!
I will be taking at least a week break for my body to recover then the process of putting her back together starts. I will pat myself on my aching back for doing it all myself at 60 years old! 👋
I added to the bottom of my "LIST" one extra line......

Even tho it's only a "guestimate", I was tuning the motor that came out into the 700hp range and it was a MONSTER to drive. It was probably 600 to the wheels or a bit more. The NEW motor is more HD, with heavier rods and larger cams. It may run worse with the "Race" manifold on it or it may use it with the Kelford 280R's, I really don't know. I can't wait to find out!!! :thumb:

Hey, I couldn't end the last day off work to not get the NEW MOTOR moved to the Big Shop. I assemble the motors in the garage, that is climate controlled.
This is how we get shit done here. We work smarter not harder which is why my car winch is chained to the front of the little trailer. A Big Thanks to the right hand man too. He kept it from falling over during it's move! It took about 10 minutes with his help.

Love it Marty. Good work old man! ;)

Leave it to you to just have random fighter jet motors laying around to throw in something willing..:hellyeah:

Marty you kill me sometimes. "It's in BITCHES". LOL.

Good stuff though.
I told my son "I say that sometimes when I get a big accomplishment done" and figured someone would get a chuckle (I hope) out of it. ROFL
It's just a really good feeling for a old guy ;) :thumb:
That "really good feeling" will NOT BE WITH ME TOMORROW though.... 🙁

Youre one of those husker fans arent you?! Lol.. my whole fitness facility loves the huskers. Lots of Nebraska boys
I grew up in Colorado in Aurora actually. Met a girl from SW Nebraska and she somehow convinced me to move out there. I'm only 40 mins from the CO/NE boarder. But yes, the Huskers are a big deal out here.

Well it seems like a year since I posted anything about the Red 90 Talon so here's what's up. I got new flywheel bolts because the 6 I took out had mangled threads on the end, which puzzled me. I ordered up 12 more! After running the new bolts into the crank, I find that Eagle didn't tap the holes quite as deep as Mitsubishi and I was bumping into unthreaded holes with each flywheel bolt. After SHAVING down the new bolts by about a 1/16", all went smooth. I removed the 8 leg twin disk and marked it so it all went back exactly how it came off of the other motor. My son helped me get the trans onto the motor and now it is just fine to double check those bolts, mark them as "good" with my paint marker and get ready to INSTALL it back into the bay. That seems to wear me out when I get to that point and I seem to fight it for at least a couple hours before it just "slips" into place (many blue words later) when someone just shows up at the shop, wondering what has been going on.
Here are a few pictures from what is up on the Mitsubishi side. I have another SBC that I am building during the heat wave that came thru, since the "clean" room (not SUPER clean, but not dirty) is attached to the house and has central air and heat! :thumb:

Lemme give you a tip. Dunno how you do it but years ago I stopped installing with a jack. I get a tow chain and suspended the trans from a cherry picker with a single bolt. The too trans mount bolt closest to the bellhousing. The trans hangs almost neutral. So easy to get it the right height and wiggle in any axis as needed. From ground to stabbed is usually 10 min or less on a 1g. 2g a little longer because the motor moves.

That's funny Paul because that's what my son and I ended up doing. The autos have a place to do that same thing, on them.
Thanks guys! 😀

After SHAVING down the new bolts by about a 1/16", all went smooth.
I just now looked up what Tim Zimmer sent me for these bolts, to use with the QM Street flywheel on the Eagle 6-bolt crank.
He sent 19.5mm Flywheel Bolts 1120A062.
In the email where we talked about this, he said: "I will prepare the 6x 19.5mm flywheel bolts needed for mounting it as the flywheel flange thickness is thinner than the OEM style flywheels."
So, I don't know how it went really because ER put it together for me. But that's what Tim sent me.
I see that the 1120A062 are Evo bolts.

Tim's right! They need modified. Hell, my son just went to the bench grinder and lightly took off the "silver" test part then he dressed the threads with a triangle file and we tested each one. Bolted on perfect 👌
I cut some old bolts (the ones that came out) but cut them TOO SHORT.
See my picture......TOO SHORT. We made the new bolts fit perfect. 😎

I got my ass up and around early today to beat the 110*+ heat index, so at 8am, I was in the shop, rearranging the engines. I put the one that came out onto a stand and moved the new motor/trans over and got the crane in place for another morning. By 1030, it starts to get very humid and I don't need heat stroke, so early morning work or wait until this weekend, when the temp will only be high 80s or 90*. That is "tolerable" but still I limit my time in the heat. At least the new engine is close to sitting in the bay again!
Crossing Fingers 🤞
Marty

It has a very large 220 window unit that takes about $50/day to use so it has to be very important to turn it on.
