2gb Talon and 1gb Laser will be worth the most out of all DSMs, and maybe '90 models because they're quirks make them different.

I don't know much about Hondas, but everyone seems to think the type-r's are the most special of them all.

I know 2gb Talons are some of the rarest DSMs, but plenty of people prefer 2gb Eclipses. There's a reason more were sold. Any AWD DSM is going to be hard to find so that could go either way too.

There's plenty of people collecting type Rs already so I just figured that was a given.

Kind of makes you wonder with Electric cars, and all this "green" stuff going on how people will react to some of these older performance oriented cars 30 years from now. I'm don't think DSMs will be worth alot unless they are crazy nice, but they will be worth something. The high end supras and whatnot will probably always be worth alot as well.

I don't mean to turn this into a gas vs electric debate, but I think it's unlikely that electric cars will be the revolution everyone expects them to be. Where does the electricity to power them come from in the first place? Our best bet to power major cities full of electric cars, right now, is probably nuclear power and we can't even figure out what to do with the waste that it produces. There are theories, but nothing cost efficient. I think hybrids have a reasonable chance of being here to stay, but I think we'll always have some kind of fuel around. Weather it be E85 or the next big thing.

I just keep thinking of how my grandfather bought a 57 Chevy new and pretty much gave it away a few years later not thinking it would be worth anything. These cars very well might not be worth anything, for example you can still pick up Dodge Darts for relatively cheap, but cars keep getting heavier so we may never see anything similar produced ever again.

I'm going to quote a guy from a Cadillac forum actually because I'm not sure how to say this any better.

I don't know about the old Hondas not being collectible. Judging from what "baby boomers" (old farts like myself) are willing to pay for what were really just "youth" mobiles; i.e. cheapest body, big engine only really good for showing off on Saturday night cars I'd say the Hondas will have a market. Remember that the "muscle cars" went out of voque for many years and really didn't start to become popular again until Norman Chandler started first collecting and them and then started cornering the market for them in the mid eighties. Before that they were so much garage and backyard clutter, and those that were driven usually came home to trailer park at night. It wasn't until Chandler made it fashionable and the boomers had some surplus cash that these cars really appreciated.

saturn astra. its the only hatch saturn ever made. I see some for sale that clame to be 09's but i worked at a saturn dealer till the end of saturn and the only ones that made it to the dealers were the 08's. they said the 08 came out so late in the year that they wern't going to make them for 09 they were going to skip 09 and bring them out as 2010's so they realy only made them for 2008. and there already rare

Mazda Miatas, AE86s, 240sx, WRX, EVO, S2000 really any of the trendy spocoms of the day will be worth some serious dough in OEM factory form one day. Just look at the super high dollar muscle cars of yesteryear. When this current generation gets old, fat, and rich they"ll go out and buy up all the original cars they remember from their youth ie S2000's WRX's yadda yadda.

Wish I had the money to get this and hang on to it. :D

97 TSi AWD, 5 speed, 60k miles.
Just stopped to see it since it's by my house and the damn thing is bone stock and mint. :thumb:

Boo!!!! I expected a lot more good responses out of you guys! If you don't reply at least make sure to check out that Speedhunters article I just posted.

Escort GT 91-96.

Hate myself for selling any of them.

I even had a 1993 Hyundai S-coupe turbo. 1 of like 300 made....

A buddy of mine has a 1 of 34 (i think) 1993 Daytona IROC R/T.. Pretty good shape too.. However hes doing an Hx35 build on it!!

Is his name Jackson? If so, he has the biggest collection of t3 cars I've ever seen. He also has an infatuation with Holsets. The one 1993 blue IROC RT he has is one of EIGHT. Yes, 1 of 8. LOL... Lucky bastard. ;)

No, his name is Brandon.. Buddy of mine up in Janesville. I actually ended up buying the Holset he was going to use haha! Id buy that car from him if I had the money. It hasnt moved in quite a while..

I dont think the number of cars produced will effect the price at all granted that the lower number cars produced will bring in more money because there rarer.

I love dsm's there my life and I believe in 30 years i'd be willing to pay just about anything for a stock good running dsm like i had back in my teens modding them and beating the hell out of them on the track ;) haha in 30 years i can see a clean stock 2gb talon bringing in over 30k no problem

Absolutely on the first one. I could watch Barrett Jackson all freakin day, restomods or clones go for alot less that an original, low mileage, low production number, numbers matching cars.

Not a fan or mopar, but I would love this super bird!!! Just look at that spoiler! :sneaky:

The St185's and ST205's are already fetching premo prices.
The ST165's are VERY rare.

The ST165's are VERY rare.

Seriously? Because I have a ST165 sitting in my shop right now. Never knew much about them except I HATE working on the 3SGTE. Whoever designed it must have had one short leg. LOL It's currently awaiting it's new engine, which will be from a Caldina GT4 front clip. Needless to say, I will not be helping with that mess. Another buddy of mine has a ST205 GT-Four that was imported. I already knew that thing was rare! It has a PTE 6262, AEM EMS, and runs E85 making 504awhp. I've posted pics of both in some other threads, but here they are:

As for another future classic/collectable, I vote Corolla T-Sport Compressor. Apparently it was a very limited run (sub 1k models?) and they came supercharged from the factory. Pretty badass sleeper in my book!

Yeah, as rare as the ST185s and ST205s are, you barely see any ST165s on the road. I honestly didnt think mine was that hard to work on.

These should be collectibles soon if not now.

WRT everybody claiming DSMs will never be valuable because there are too many of them...

...have a look at the production numbers for some of the big-time muscle cars. Mustangs had huge production numbers, and yet even totally stock models go for 20-30 grand in clean, good condition. The exact same arguments I'm hearing against DSMs were said about Mustangs.

That's exactly what I was getting at with this thread. There's a few cars I'm already kicking myself in the ass for selling.

I challenge anyone to find an ad for a bone stock 1g awd.
