My plastic bov held 21psi without any issues on my 05' Evo,
Oh, you guys are talking about the plastic one. I'm running the evo 9 mr which is aluminum and holds really well.

My plastic bov held 21psi without any issues on my 05' Evo,
To anyone running any Evo BOV.... Does it make that "whistle" that 1g's make on decel / vaccuum conditions? I hate it, and if I could get an evo bov cheap, I'd rather do that then get a aftermarket bov. I vent to the atmosphere if it matters (MAF-T).
Thanks.
Honestly, it's got a pretty good "whoosh" in between shifts. Now I'm not sure if that's because I'm running 15 psi now, and my stock plastic one could hardly handle stock boost. Either way, I don't notice any "whistle".
\I'm not talking about between shifts, but more so when you do let off the gas driving casually, at are -18 in/hg the 1g BOV makes a "whistle" noise as it opens for a few seconds... And I HATE that noise! This is just driving casual, WOT it will make the same woosh noise, but I don't like BOV noise that much and don't want that whistle.
What's the flange like on the EVO BOV? Does it bolt up to a 1g?
I myself like the nice Whooosh sound. It lets people know not to mess with it.
then a nice woosh on the modified dump tube
Yeah man im telling you this bov rocks Btw, did you modify the dump tube ?
this may be a dumb question, but how do you modify a dump tube?
this issue could also simply be "flutter" from the BOV... my type-s flutters a LOT! especially when i'm in very high vac (like 0-10 in/HG) .02
It looks like you could actually recirculate that bov. Loosen that clamp at the bottom and rotate it. Then go buy a new recirc tube and you should be good on the recirc end.
If he can figure out how to properly set up the BOV, yes. But he had surge problems with it. If anyone knows more about that BOV, chime in and give him some instruction on how to properly adjust it...or atleast identify it. It does look almost exactly like the one in the image he posted earlier ($250!!).
EDIT: This is from the site selling AVO BOVs (looks just like his): "AVO blow off valves are a 50/50 vent system that retains the return tube, keeping the stock computer system happy, while an additional vent sends hot air to atmosphere." That tells me that even if he hooks up the recirc tube, it'll still vent half the air.
From what I can tell, the BOV vaccuum line is on the correct things (one end on the intake manifold, one end on the BOV nipple), but you still need another BOV that you can recirculate.
You say that that BOV came with a 3000GT clip. What was on your car before that BOV in the picture?
Is the ticking you hear at the manifold just the injectors opening and closing? They click as the solenoid opens and closes. Also, it could be lifter tick.
A ticking thrust bearing doesn't sound good. The 2g 7-bolt motors have been known to crankwalk. If yours is walking, that's not good; replacing the bearing will buy you time, but won't stop it from happening again. But that's if it's crankwalk.

Those are all the questions he answered (some questions from other users were repeated from what I already put up). I did say my car seems to be stuttering while flooring it in 3rd gear in another thread and he just gave me advice saying "try changing your spark plugs since they are old enough already. It may be the problem." With his 3000GT, it would buck and he changed the spark plugs, all that stuttering, buck, w/e, stopped. He then said "If it's not the spark plugs, it may be a really bad boost leak similar to what that person (tbonitz301) told you earlier (my other thread)."
