Swapping a 420a to a 4g64 or 4g63 to me dose not seem all to hard but no were will it be easy to do. i have done my research went to the junk yard and took some measurements.
it's just not time and cost efficient./QUOTE]
Yes for some people it is true, and in the long run it is cost efficient from a insurance stand point. plus at my local pick-n-pull i can get a 1g or 2g 4g63t engine and tranny for less than $300 running or not (complete engine =163.95, 5-speed trans=89.75, plus a turbo=44.95) last i check. for some one like me it is a challenge i will one day take. i have worked on cars, trucks, and hydraulic equipment since i was 8. learned from my dad a master mechanic, welder, hydraulic specialist, I love that guy.and from all the research i have done it will be cheaper to do a swap than to buy a gst or spider form were i live it is. not a lot of turbo, spiders dsm out here for sale and are mostly over $5k thats about normal. (but there is a lot at the junk yard) I know fabricating for the motor mounts will be the hardest part ( on the plus side i have lots of parts from my old tsi ) i have all the tools needed for the job plus the help from my dad and from all of you on this site. 4g64 would be about the same as the 4g63 in the a swap. "about the same" haven't really look in to the 4g64 to much. but the mounting points are the same as the 4g63.
The difficulty in doing a swap or a job is solely on the person doing it. what i have been taught is to look at what need to be done not just how difficult it is, and what tool are needed to get that particular job done. and don't be in rush to do it it is more easy to do when you plan every thing you can first (research, parts, tools, cost, location, time, goals, sanity, etc) by easy i mean a little less frustration and head banging and come on Turbo and Other NA guys let be more supportive, sure their are better ways to go fast but would it be better for more people to do a Chrysler to Mitsubishi engine swap that would prove their knowledge on that type of engine and in fabricating. i have never ask this question in this site because i know what type of answer i would be getting.
And at the moment i'am building a turbo kit first on my other gs
p.s and my dad is a cop now got to go at work..
