Background
The car was bought in 1979 by a gentleman in Topeka KS, he drove it daily from a coal power plant for only 5 years. When it came time to replace the front brake pads he parked it in his barn and just abandoned it in 1984. December 2023 I meet the gentleman at my work and we get to talking about his triumph spitfires he's selling and I agree to look at them. Lo and behold we get out there and I spot the arrow sitting in his field. Asked him about it and he said he had title and keys for it. I asked how much and he said scrap price, $100. I handed him the money and with his neighbors skidsteer we loaded it onto my trailer, loosing most of the exhaust along the way. I got it home and unloaded it, it didn't want to come off the trailer but we got it down and to my amazement the car was 100% factory, plastic still on the sill plates and the original tires and bulbs all around the car. Opened the hood and inside sat the poor 4g52 2.0l, mice ate every wire and made nests in the cylinders. So it's getting updated with a 4g63t from a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse gsx. Hopefully soon I can take it on its first drive in 40 years!

I love it. I have a 87 Camry WAGON that my son's say needs one of my 4g63 motors but it runs so good as stock that I won't do it unless the thing dies on me, which isn't likely. One other note, while it didn't cost $1, it was only $300. She's fun and gets lots of comments plus 28mpg! :thumb:

What a sweet design! Have to keep that rootbeer paint. Post a pic of the full dashboard, because the gauges are absolutely classic. Looks like plenty of room for the turbo. I’d be a little concerned that the drivetrain can handle power.
