My guess with the tire size issue, the biggest problem would be the viscous coupler being burned up, but other then that, your other drivetrain parts should have survived under "normal" circumstances. To answer your title question though: almost all used DSM's are cans of worms, but thats why we...
I know you said you checked them all, but if your MPI relay is not getting any power, then you could go back from there, which is the 20 amp fuse labeled "engine" in the fuse box under the hood. That thing runs the relay and pretty much every other sensor on your engine. If the fuse is in fact...
I would do a boost/vaccuum leak test first. Then move onto checking the Idle Air Control, Throttle Position Sensor, faulty things like that can cause crazy idle problems.
I have a brand new set of Bosch Purple Top injectors, I think they are something like 65lbs or 680cc, something in that ballpark. Anyway, I dont know anything about them, are they worth a shit to try to sell them?
Are you sure that is whats making the noise? If you are sure of that, then are you sure that it isn't "normal" noises you are hearing? Is the car running properly? If it is, maybe don't worry about it.
A "manual turbo timer" is way cheaper :-) thats where you just remember in your head that you redlined that shit for a quarter mile or so and better just leave it idle for a bit before shutting her down.
That looks concerning, not sure a lean condition would cause that much residue, seems like you are burning something that shouldn't be, like coolant. Hows your oil look? Is it milky?
Same thing happened to my car. Check the 20 amp fuse under the hood labled "Engine." It runs your fuel pump among other things, car will crank until the end of time, but no start.
This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! Believe me I did search a lot, just didn't have any luck I guess. Thanks for the advice everybody. To clarify, I have upgraded my fuel system, new lines, Walboro 400 lph on custom sending unit with rewire kit. 680cc injectors (got a good deal...
I am at the point in my project to start looking for a turbo upgrade. I know I can easily do a few different bolt-on options, but I'm still trying to learn what I am reading when I'm looking at turbos for sale. Currently I have a cheapy eBay exhaust manifold bolted up to a completely stock...
Forget the trade, you are in a prime metropolitan area to find another one that is not a basket case of shit. My suggestion would be: put the Acura up for sale, you know some kid will buy it, and use that money to buy a solid DSM from somebody a little less shit-baggy. Just my $0.02
definately not the fuel pressure solenoid causing that issue. Like previously stated, make sure you have no boost leaks, and check out the TPS as that sounds more likely the cause.
I have a buddy who went to UTI, he is doing pretty well for himself now, but has always said the UTI reference never really helped as much as his certifications did. Check out the GM ASEP/BSEP programs that are offered at 2 year colleges all over the country, they only charge you in-state...
Thanks for the suggestions, forgive me for sounding stupid, but I am not familiar with an "FP manifold"Nevermind, I found one at STM, thanks alot everbody!
Alot of guys deal with the dipstick popping out a little, could be a problem, but most of the time they just install a spring to hold it down :) yours would most likely shoot out like a bottle rocket if you really were holding 100psi. As far as the sending unit goes, yes it is on the oil filter...
It doesnt look to be pinched shut in the picture, but definately tight. The fuel pressure regulator solenoid, from my understanding only really does something during cold start, after you get to temp, it just sits there idle. So I don't believe you will notice anything if you re-route, except...
I am no expert, but I would suggest making sure your oil pressure sending unit is not the cause of this. Mine was the opposite, my gauge dropped to 0 psi, which would normally be very, very bad, and burn the engine up. Long story short, I drove another 100 miles home with my guage reading 0...
I am in need of a new exhaust manifold on my 95 Talon TSi. Any suggestions on a good quality unit, that is also cost efficient? I don't trust the $90.00 manifolds on Ebay, and I dont have $750 for one from STM. What are you "low budget" guys running?
Hey everyone! I have been a member on here for quite a while now, but never get a chance to do any posting. Anyways, I just thought I would introduce myself a little bit. I live in Alaska, which is quite a challenge when it comes to building a quick DSM, shipping costs and so many places that...
Seems like there might be a reason the turbos are still in the cars and not salvaged already, those arent exactly a turbo you see people swapping to very often, so chances are, you would be sitting on them for a while trying to find the right buyer. For 45 bucks though? Might be worth it just...
Zip ties pretty much hold just as tight as those metal clips, but some people think they look a little "ghetto" sometimes :) I myself, dont mind a little ghetto fab every once in a while!
I paid 3k for it. Ran great for about 8 months, but I like it too much to give up on it. Now after ruling out a bad fuel pump, I am chasing down why I keep blowing the 20 amp "engine" fuse in the fuse box under the hood
pics coming soon, its in cramped garage, awaiting a few more fuel fittings before i can pull it out and snap some shots... nothing amazing, but its all there and not dented/rusted to shit
Well, sounds like I'm just going to dive into it and get it done, I will also take pictures and post them up when I am finished, wish me luck on clearance issues, I unfortunately live in Alaska, and there isn't really any stores around me where I can just browse through AN fittings, I will have...
Thank you for the link! I was so tired from searching yesterday I must have just looked over it. Your setup looks pretty straight forward and easy, leaving the internal part of the fuel pump alone. I have two more quick questions for you:1)Does leaving the stock tube inside the pump defeat...
Hey guys! Im here in Wasilla and my 95 TSi is just crying to be driven but I am kind of at a stand still. Im wondering if any of you have modified the fuel pump sending unit's fuel feed line connection because in removing my burned up fuel pump, I kinked the line like an idiot, now I see alot of...
Okay so I am in the process of getting my -8AN feed line bung welded on the sending unit in place of the old kinked up line, now, who can help me find the right fittings to keep from having clearance issues on the the top of the sending unit and still being able to utilize the cover under the...
