Hi there.Having trouble finding a vacuum source for my GM map sensor. I know it's best to keep it higher on the manifold and as close to it as possible - but what do I use as a vac. source?I've seen a few folks say to just mount it to the firewall and run a hose from the manifold to the...
When I went to go put my dsmlink ecu in the car, I pulled out a stock virgin ecu that seemed like it has never ever been touched or opened. So that made me feel good. BUT there is a freakin nest of readio wires back there. I really need to sort through them. The ecu harness looked untouched, but...
Hi everybody!Last night (4:30 this morning, actually) was it! The car took it's first breath - But only after a lot of googling/searching/cursing etc.Ran a couple last minute vacuum lines and wired in the boost gauge and wideband... then we went for the crank.Cranking, cranking...
Really? That's the knock sensor?? That explains a bit then. It's a manual and to my knowledge it has always been a manual. It looks like the factory ecu has never ever ever been touched in this car so I'm getting it's original.
It turns out the guy had an aftermarket coolant temp gauge sensor but had it tapped so that it connected to the factory gauge and an aftermarket gauge!I found the what I believe has to be the foglight clips (identical one on each side by headlight and headlights are already wired up), so...
So the clip with the two wires is definitely the AC temp switch. I guess the one of the right is the coolant temp sensor for the gauges in the instrument cluster. It just looks different in my car than number 4 in the photo above. Out of all the photos I've found on this, # 2 in this thread...
I've been searching for this stuff for a good 6 hours now and I'm stumped. Out of my list of a dozen things, I'm stumped on these. To clarify, I bought this car after it had been sitting for some time without a head on it. Most parts are there, but not every little thing. It's a 92 1gb and I...
Hi all.The previous owner has tapped the 91-94 OFH for the feed to the turbo, but I'm going to be running mine from the head for now. I'm having trouble figuring out what size bolt will be best to plug that hole on the OFH. Also should I use some kind of sealant with it?
Awesome. Thanks guys.So the PCV valve on the valve cover goes straight into the one on the intake manifold that I pictured, correct? I'm assuming the nipple on my IM is broken off?
Anybody interested?I'd like to broaden the horizon to some evos, vr4s, etc too. I'm not so sure I'll get to bring my 1g to Ohio, so it'd be really nice to do something 'big' local! BBQ and cruise? Or cruise to food?
I've been googling and searching and I'm still coming up empty handed. I found the taboo vacuum line diagrams so those mostly answered my routing questions, but there's one port(?) on my intake mani that I'm stumped on. Is it some kinda of mount for the fuel rail or a vacuum outlet port?
Thanks for the link. I've read a lot about the Motoman method but I haven't come across this page. I wasn't planning on babying but I won't be redlining it either. I understand (and agree) that the motor need to see pressure, boost, vacuum, and varying rpms... no cruising... all that stuff...
I don't have stock injectors. Turns out the tuner is going to come by and get it setup at the shop so I can break it in, then do the full tune on the dyno. Thanks though guys.
Hi guys! I've been doing some reading and through almost the entire build I've been able to answer my questions by searching... but this one not entirely. My rebuilt 6 bolt is almost finished (stock bore + hone/polished crank/pressure tested oem head). Last few parts will be arriving tomorrow...
Not exactly on topic, but how do you like your job? I'm going to start taking some CAD classes. Always interested to hear from people working with the program on a daily basis. Any pointers?
Technically 3... 4 if you lump the boyfriend's evo into the mix.:dsm: Blue '92 Eclipse GSX being rebuilt as we speak.
:talon: Red '93 Talon TSi shell we unfortunately have to sell :(
:dsm: Green '92 Galant VR4 #174/1000 (counts in my book!)Now I need a red 2GB GSX ;):dsm:
My 6 bolt will be going together and into the car soon and after all the reading I've done, I'm definitely leaned towards the motoman method for the most part. I'm not going to take it out and beat it to redline in the first 5 minutes, but I am certainly going to 'excersize' it via...
I don't have any on me now, but I will. I love it. Very happy I found it! I do have a 1GB Talon shell for sale also... it's on craigslist right now. It's red and on evo 8 wheels in the photo.I bought it as a stock 6 bolt bottom end in a car. I got it from my boyfriend's friend that got it...
I did a bunch more reading and I am going to go grab a composite headgasket. I did switch plans over to a 20g and I'm adding a fpr but other than that the plans the same for now. I'll upgrade injectors/cams later, I just want to get it running. Thanks a bunch guys.
I may clean it up and give it a shot since I already have it. I know the head side is good and I have faith in this bottom end. Worst case it leaks and I throw a composite on there. Seems like dry without copper spray should do the trick. Tune will be dialed in well. This guy's good. I really...
Yeahhhh. You're right. Shit.I have another bare block I was going to build that checked out perfectly. I may swap everything over. But then I need to do bearings and everything else.Man I didn't even think about that. I thought the composite gasket didn't like extra boost?
Oh yeah! Youre roght abput that. I have some Evo 560Ccs already. Not too big but they'll let me get it running.I forgot abput a wastegate too i thought the 16g was internally gated. Turns out this one isn't.
A while back I picked up an Amazon Blue 1GB that was fairly complete without a head. Bought it from a friend of my boyfriend's who got it from his buddy who said it dropped a valve. The car has been sitting for probably 2 years without a head on it.The cylinder walls look good as do the...
Xenocron. He's good with SD so I think I'm going to go that route.I was thinking about this. The shop said the head is holding pressure just fine. I know the insurance here would be nice though. If they already checked out the head can I send it back to them with springs and retainers to...
It's just a Greddy knockoff. It's the style the piping is flanged for.I won't be tuning it. But I have been trying to decide if I should go stock MAF or SD. Apparently the stock can handle up to about 500 hp, which I won't be hitting. You think I should just go that route or will I sacrifice a...
Yes, you're right. I assumed it was needed. As far as BOV goes I have a new one that came with the IC. I'll probably use that.I'm still reading on SpeedDensity, so SD requires only a map sensor and iat sensor? Thanks for the words on the fuel, too. I really appreciate all the input.
Hi guys. First real post since any question I've ever come up with, I've already found an answer to somewhere else. I'll be getting the block and head back from the machine shop this week/next and I really just wanted someone to lay eyes on my setup and let me know if I was completely missing...
