Can someone help me identify which 4g63 is this, I am mostly a toyota guy so and toyota has variants of each engine, so this 4g63 which I have come across, is it a specific type of 4g? If so what problems are to be careful of with this engine? And this is a stock block with stock head with a big turbo, what is the safe mark of HP which should be reached with this, this is a Garrett A/R 70 M24 Turbo, so what can be the max potential of this turbo with a stock engine as well. Would appreciate some input.

You may want to post this same question on the evo forums. Most people here have the 4g with the cam gears on the right. Yours are on the left.

Mostly likely came from an evo as stated above

As stated that’s an Evo 4-8 style 4g63. The stock 4g63 bottom end in Evo’s has been pushed over 700 horsepower on a few cases if that tells you how stout it is but that’s not typical or practical for most users.

As far as the turbo goes it’s not a Garrett, it’s some cheap $150 Chinese gt3582 clone. Notice the ID area on the compressor cover that says things like “TURBOCHARGER” and “GT35”, only a Chinese clone has that kind of identification, no Garrett unit is going to say “TURBOCHARGER” anywhere on it, if someone told you that is a Garrett unit they lied to you to sell you on it. Good for 500ish at the wheels depending on other variables.

Judging only by the valve cover, it's an EVO 4~6 or airtrek turbo.
If it's originally from an EVO 5+, it should have the revised split thrust block against the famous crank walk, but EVO 4.
The EVO 4 came with the non revised block with one-piece main bearing from factory unless the previous owner replaced it with the revised split thrust block. Either way, you should make sure that it has no crank walk. If the crank is walking even a little, you will have to rebuild the engine first. Also the EVO 4 came with problematic pistons.
I don't know if the injectors are the stock, in case if the injectors are still stock, you can check the color. If it's yellow, it's an EVO 4. If it's pink, it's an EVO 5+.

This is what you mean?
No, that's not.
I have a little write-up here, please refer this link below.
