Sorry everyone. I know alot of poeple have wanted to see good pics of the translator in this setup. It has been on the car for awhile now. But I wanted to get everything looking decent, before posting pics. I just got the bugs worked out of it. The car is running flawlessly. The streetable nature of the car is amaizing with it installed and tuned. It controls my 780cc injectors like nothing, idles perfect, and cruises like stock. I have not been to the track, or dyno yet. But I have had a couple people drive it, and comment it felt much stronger than before.(The other drivers were fellow Wisemen, RDRKT, and HighPsi91) Thanks to Wes Hess for the great work on customising my FMIC, and welding up the new short pipe. And Dave, for taking the pics at the Nocamixon meet today. I will have timeslips and Dyno #s soon.

Here is a nice clean angle shot of the engine. It show how I mounted the the translator box. And BTW, the valve cover and all the pipes are epoxy coated. Nothing special. Just epoxy rattle can job that I did on my lunch hour at the shop. I did the cover on Monday, and the pipes on Tuesday.

That looks really nice. The black piping looks cool with the valve cover. I cant wait to see your dyno sheet.

With the blow thru setup which way is the MAF pointing for airflow? The MAF has arrows on it, I just want to make sure I run it the correct way. Any help would be appreciated.
Joe

I spent about $500 for everything. That includes the new pipe, couplers, MAF, and Translator. BTW, I baught a brand new sensor, which was like $120. The MAF arrow points towards the TB.

Thanks, I was thinking that was the right way, although in my friends mustang gt the arrows point towards the air filter. I just wanted to make sure! So is venting a lot louder now with the blow thru? I'm hoping to have some really good results.
Joe

looks good Dave, oh by the way the stuff you ported for me is finally going on the car on monday. cant wait to see the dyno #'s

so the bov vents out fine??...there has to be some air that the meter has seen and then is blown out when the throttle body is shut....i guess not enough to cause trouble...either way great looking car

Although isnt putting the BOV after the MAF sensor the ideal way to go? I thought this way you could vent already metered air which wouldn't throw off the engine...please correct me if I'm wrong.
Joe

Putting the BOV BEFORE the MAF, lets you vent. If it is after, the air is already metered. Theoretically, some air could be actually revert back trhough the sensor, for instance from surge. But this is pretty unlikely. Im having no problems. Honestly, I didnt give a crap about venting. I just wanted the Tial. The Tial isnt even thatr loud. Just sounds like a gush of air.

Yeah Dave’s setup just works. I have driven his car and even though I make a lot more power. I can definitely appreciate the driveability with his setup. Especially considering that he is probably close to the 117 traps I was hitting on pump gas last season. His car idles and does part throttle MUCH better than mine did at that power level. I wish this option had been available last year. It would have made my life MUCH simpler.

What size coupling did you use? The 3 inch MAS has an outer diameter of 3.25 so i couldn't get the 3 inch coupling to work. Am I just not buff enough? I can't find any 3.25 inch couplings!

Keep at it mitchel. My weak ass (120lbs, 6') got em on. So i dont wanna hear you whining.

btw you can get some black nitrile reducers from NAPA...$10 a pop. cant beat that!

But you did use the 3 inch coupling???? Any tips?

I have 2.5-3.5" couplers.

Dj

Email me for info.

Other than that you should be able to streatch the 3" couplers over the 3.25" diameter.

ah yes it was a 3" coupler. tips....hrmm. go to lowes. they have this "lubricant" to help electricians pull wire. i used that (being my dad is an electrician it was available). dish soap may work too. dont use grease or anything that will stay ...well greasy.
