What is my car's color code?

I've done searches and looked for codes on my car EVERYWHERE but I still cant determine the color code of my car! I am really interested in fixing my ### fender sometime soon and would like to get some paint to clean it up.

If anybody can help me, or direct me to a thread discussing color codes thatd be great.

every car comes with a sticker that sais the paint code, how do you think body shops get it....

Most of the time its in the driver's door jamb, other under the hood, and some fords/chevy put them in the glove box. Just look around, its not too hard to find...

ok thanx, but is that specifically for a 1gb? or is that 1g and 2g? i need to know the exact color code to get teh paint. all of my "dsm" stickers are BLANK so I dont know what the color code is.. really pisses me off

look under the hood on the passenger side firewall its on a sticker with the engine code.

Take your VIN to a bodyshop, if its the factory color they can look it up that way. Or take it to a shop and get them to scan your car to get a more accurate color match.

Yea i'll to have them look up the vin. my DSM sticker on the passenger side firewall is, like i said.. blank. so..

paintscratch.com doesnt really help too much if i dont have a code. ive tried that already :-/

I hate to bring back a dead thread, but my vin plate is so faded I cant read it. Can anyone tell me what color red out of the 7 possibilities my car is?

Best thing to do is to look at your registration and get the vin from there...Then call chrysler or mitsu give the vin number to them and they will be able to tell you all the codes for your car..

Wouldn't you think that since our cars are getting really old that the paint has faded/chaged some over time? If I were getting any major repainting/repairs done I would ask the bodyshop to use their paintscanner machine thingey..

I had this beautiful '81 Accord LX when I was 16. I got clobbered by a guy in my class who ran a stop sign. I took "badbrown" down to the body shop and the guy commented on how my paint was quite remarkable for its age, but nonetheless, it would be more accurate and complete if he were to mix paint to get the EXACT same shade/color of my current paint rather than just use the factory paint code.

I agreed and out came the machine, it was like a videocamera that had a boot on it around the lens. He just pressed it against the car and in 5 seconds or so the machine had given him the information he needed to make an exactly matching paint.

It should be located on the firewall next to the battery where it says EXT TRIM.

I did some research it appears to be p75 if I did everything right according to this site. http://www.paintscratch.com/ go to order the enter the year and then the make then for the model they did not have talon but hey had eagle so I tried that. That is how I came up with what I got.

The talons came with the Wildberry Maroon, if that is the color name that it came from the factory with... The barcelona red is what duplicolor and others call it...

So where would be a good place to buy paint online? Please don't tell me to take the code to a paint shop because around here the yokels working at one would look at me like I'm a retard.

If you can even find mixed paint online,it will be a crapshoot if it will even match.Unless painted recently,the paint on our cars has faded and will not match 100% on the factory color code. If the collision repair business we have a term called blending. Say we were replacing a fender,after the fender gets put on the car,we would prep the hood and the door ajoining the fender. During the painting process,the painter would fade the color across the ajoining panels and if done correctly,your eye will never pick up the blend.That is blending in a nutshell,there is alot more to it but I will not go into it.

Now for the small amount of touch up paint. Any shop that has a paint mixing machine is capable of doing but will they do it is the question. I will say that I do it all the time for my customers,it can be a hassle sometimes but I like to take care of my customers. I would say just scout around in your area and there has to be a shop that will help. If you can not find a shop that will help you, shoot me a PM and I will see what I can do to help.

Maybe some of the dsm gurus can help me with my car's color. When I looked on the label over the battery, the TRIM said L1H and I'm pretty sure the EXT TRIM said L1HE. I'm probably blind in one eye and retarded in the other, but the label is really dirty and faded. Browsing through the galleries, A SCOBEL has the same color car as mine. It's a 96 GST. Thanks for any help. I'll clean and check the label in the a.m.

After cleaning I saw 46H at the color trim on the EXT TRIM side. L1HE was directly to the right of EXT TRIM. They don
't have L1HE on http://www.paintscratch.com/, only L1H.
