Anybody? I ordered the 1 on the left on ebay. I gave it to someone to give to my mechanic. He tells me they sent the wrong 1. He then tells me that he took the 1 on the left out of my car and the 1 on the right is the wrong 1. I had opened the package when I recieved it and saw the blue sticker. Here is a picture of the blue sticker in the ebay listing and the picture of the sticker my mechanic sent me. The sticker from mechanics pic is worn more but too many exact matches.

The one on the right has the correct case / mounting brackets for a 1G.

That said, we can tell absolutely nothing from this picture otherwise. Remove the covers and take pictures of the boards or try some self-identification using the printed number on the white connector (inside the case). Those four digits are the last four digits of the ECU E2T number. Using that, you can try identifying just what ECUs you have there.

Here’s an example of someone else trying the same thing: 1G What ECU is this?

If you’re still unsure, post up the pictures of the boards.

The 1 on the left is MD128624 Federal MT, the right is MD128622 California MT. MT= manual transmission?

There is also same #s with Federal AT and California AT= automatic transmission? My car is Manual and I am in California. Is MD128622 California MT the correct 1?

Thanks for any help.

That’s what it looks like. Yes, MT = manual transmission.

Verify that your car is setup for California emissions (either check your vacuum hoses and compare against the Federal and Cali diagrams or check for an EGR Temperature Sensor). If so, MD128622 is what it should be using.

Thanks for your help. It is set up for California emissions so ordered MD128622.

Do you happen to know where I can get a 1990 Eagle Talon 2.0l ignition control module J122 MD127742 used and works or refurbished that is not located in China?

I have tried with no luck. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

@We're on Boost bought one from RockAuto and seemed pleased with the product. SMP or Intermotor LX646. He may have more of a review on it now.
Yes it's been perfect. Made in Japan, MD127742, Standard Motor Products LX646.
Take a look at my pic in post #3 here:
https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/ignition-parts-help-for-1g-dsm.539848/#post-153847272

The link I gave to it in that post is still good. Rock Auto. I see it's still about the same price, $199.79 at the moment.

I went to Rockauto and they had 2 listed. ! was 199.00 and 1 was 184.00. I ordered the 184.00 1. When I got done ordering it, another 1 popped up for 69.79 that said "wholesaler closeout". The #s matched MD127742. I canceled the first order and ordered the cheaper 1. I am thinking about selling this car in the near future.

My mechanic replaced the ECU, ICM, CAS, coil pack, fuel pump and filter and checked all fuses. It starts but dies when you let go of key. Any ideas? Even my mechanic is stumped.

How about we start with what is wrong? What started this thread?
Stop throwing parts at it. I assume this is a no start? But it does start but dies as soon as you let go of the key?
What conditions led up to this? Did it suddenly start one day? Something else happen? Give us some background info and the symptoms.

I was on my way to the store 2 months ago and it just died. No check engine light. I thought the gas gauge was wrong so added gas. Turned over but no start. Get a tow home. When car was on the ground it started right up and I drove it down to my house. Next morning it started right up but died after 10 minutes. It kept getting worse until no start. Previous owner said it could be CAS or coil pack and gave me 1 of each he had from junk yard. The coil pack was good but CAS was not. Bought new CAS. My mechanic calls me up and says car is done. I get a ride down to pick up and he tells me he started it 20+ times and drove around the block multiple times. I get in and it turns over but won't start. I have to leave it there. Next day he says I need a ECU. I order 1 and get 1 for a turbo, mine is not a turbo. I order right 1 and it is installed and car starts up but then fuel pump goes out while still at shop. That is replaced along with fuel filter and that is when it started to start when turned over but died when key is released to run. Replaced ICM and still dies when key is released.
