Hi guys,
I am totally confused right now. I have had two very good companies (one I know you all would know, and the other most would probably know) look at my car to tune it, and have given me very different answers. Also my tranny which was just recently rebuilt is acting very funny and they both gave me two totally different responses as to why it's doing this.
First, the tranny, since this is the auto tranny forum. Basically it's just not shifiting.. it takes like seriously 3-5 minutes for it to shift into second.. Buschur told me this was because having a shift kit was bad when you are running a larger turbo (I have a 50 trim). Showdown told me a shift kit is always good, and that all I need is to have it tuned properly and the tranny should just shift at normal rpm's.
Second, this isn't about the tranny but while I'm posting, Buschur told me they could not (prob. more like would not) tune my car with 680's and a 50 trim (and all the other supporting mods) on an SAFC II.. whereas showdown told me there was no reason why they couldn't do that.. and that if I brought me car to them they could tune it and it would run great.

If you have any experience with this pleeease help.. I'm very confused right now!

Only post if you know for sure please.. I don't want to be any more confused than I am.. thanks!

I can't speak to the tranny issues, but the 680's CAN be tuned on an AFC, it's just not the best way to do it. You will be severely effecting your airflow #'s to compensate for injectors that large. This will be feeding the ECU pretty bogus info. But, there are many a DSMer running 650's and AFC's with no problems, it just takes time and patience to get a good tune. They probably just don't want to because it would take 1/10th the time with DSMlink.

Good post and dead nuts on Andy. Correcting for injectors that large will really jack with the timing maps, but it's workable until you invest in a better solution (Link or a Keydiver chip with injector compensation).

With respect to the transmission issues, I would call up IPT in Wayne, NJ and talk to them since they're transmission specialists. It may be something as stupid as a valve body adjustment or it could even be something gummed up that isn't allowing the shift kit to do it's job on the 1-2. For reference, their number is 1-866-82-TRANS.

I'm the least experienced guy when it comes to drivetrain, but the best I can offer you is to call a professional with native knowledge and see what they say. As far as the tuning shops, I would go to the one that's willing to work with your combination.
