Hey whats up everybody.
Well I tried passing smog, but i was told that the computer is reading as if the battery was disconnected or if someone erased the codes, when they hooked up the machine to it was showing like 5 red sentences when the maximum is 3. they are supposed to be green.
If you understand what im tryin to explain, more than likely you can help me. I was told to drive the car for 10 min without stopping at one rpm one speed. so it can trigger the computer but when we re hooked it it read the same. Any Ideas???? I would really appreaciate it
Thanks ahead of time....

I guess nobody knows what im talking about, but let me ask another question. I have a small greddy front mount intercooler, small 16g turbo, upper intercooler pipping with a greddy b.o.v., b&m fpr and gage, exaust manifold and 02 housing ported, air filter, I know this shouldnt make a diffrence but ill mention it anyways act 2600 w/street disk, alumn flywheel.
With these mods should I be able to pass smog?
If I get 660 inectors and a SAFC would i be able to pass smog with that?
Thanks for youre help...........

Ohh yeah i also have a rsr down pipe but i uninstalled it to put the cat back on the car. and I still have my rsr cat back exhaust on

He just said that i needed to run the car until my computer triped or triggered something. that the computer is not set. and he cant even continue with the inspection unless it passes that first part. what he did was he tested the car running it on the machine, but I needed to "replace" my cat so I did, when i went back he hooked up the machine to my car. and one of the first screens it showed had maybe like 8 sentences describing certain parts, i remeber one of them said something like catalic converter not set and it was red. the ones that where green said that it was set. I dont remember exactly if it said set or someother words but basicly saying yes or no. There was like 6 red ones, and he said maximum was 3.
If anybody can help me, Id really apreciate it.

I also forgot to mention I have the speed limer removed.

Okay, but you have to help us first. Find out what failed. Was this a pre-test, I hope to god? Can you go to another shop, maybe with a mechanic who has bought a vowel and has a clue?

with a mechanic who has bought a vowel and has a clue?:thumb:

Yeah it was a pre-test, should i go back and ask him to hook it up and write down the list of things it was showing in red? I know the catalic converter was one of them, . I dont remeber the rest.

what he is talking about is with obdII you have certain monitors that have to be set for the smog equiptment to work. all that happened was you don't have all the monitors set in your computer he should be able to set them for you on the dyno it sounds like he just didn't want to do it. and on the parts you should pass the visual since everything is greddy and i think that all of their stuff is carb legal but i don't know if you will pass with 660's? that would have to be some good tuning since they do load mode testing now.

Okay thanks, now i have a better understanding of whats going on and can ask around for help a little better. I was just asking about the 660 because i tought maybee it would help tune the car for better air fuel mix, that way it would help pass the test.
okay well thanks for the help, for now im just going to go to another smog place and see if they could do the pre-test.
THANKS...

still need help, I will thank you in advance...THANKS

I went this weekend to five other smog places, they all said the same thing, the car needs to be ran until all the codes are set, some just said "I dont know we have to hook it up and do the test". I went back to the original guy, he re hooked up the machine and same thing, i remeber reading that the oxigen sensor was red and the o2 warmer or something was red also, but anyhow same thing, could there be a short in my electrical not letting the computer set, im going to try to ground all of the engine components, and see if that helps in case the grounds are bad. if not i might have to borrow or buy a ecu. time for eprom if worst comes to worst.

thanks again for all the help......

ohh and the car past the tail pipe part of it.

it's not a grounding issue it's just the ecu needs certain things to set the perameters for smog. what you can do is take the car and run straight at the same speed for atleast 15 min. that will usually set the computer. what is weird is you shouldn't have to set them they should set them. are you going to reputable places or little mom and pop shops? try going to a referee station. they would be a better place that shouldn't give you the run around.

What is popping up is the OBD-II system keeps a timer on all the emissions stuff. If you reset a code, it resets the timer. I bet your ecu is not keeping its memory when you shut the car off. Check your fuel trims with a pocketlogger and see if they go back to 0 everytime you start the car or if they stay where they were right before you shut it off.
