hey all
i have a feeling that this is a real longshot, but i'm gonna go for it anyway... i've got a 94 eclipse that i bought used, and when i bought it, i noticed a little toggle switch under the dash next to the driver's side door.. i asked what it was, and the seller said that it was a factory-installed alarm. the poorly-connected toggle switch makes me think that it was something that someone jacked into it, but i'm not positive.. anyway.. i took the car to the local auto shop today, and when i got it back, i noticed a skinny black wire hanging down by the clutch. they of course new nothing about it, and said they didn't do it...
now here's my question... that little black wire leads up to the main alarm electronics box.. and it goes into the side of the box away from everything else. i found in the main harness a ground and a wire that's spliced into a 12v line.. so i don't think that it's a power line... though i'm not sure. it's much smaller diameter than any of the other wires. my initial thought was that maybe it was supposed to be stuck under a fuse for power.. but i don't think so anymore. on the side of the alarm case (and on the PCB of the alarm controller) there is a sticker that says "239A D". hopefully someone can give me an idea as to where this wire is supposed to go to.. i havn't been able to find the spot that the wire broke off of (looks like it broke away from wherever it was before... )
if anyone is able to help me with this i would be VERY greatful
thanks
oh, and by the way... when the alarm worked, the indicator LED would be solid on when the alarm was off, and it would blink when the alarm was activated. now, the LED just dims a little when i try to enable the alarm, but the car still starts and everything (which it wouldn't do when the alarm was activated before)
thanks again
