If I am installing the oil feed line for my turbo off of the oil pressure sending unit, where can I tap in for my autometer oil pressure sending unit? Can I just double-T it with the oil send line and the stock oil pressure sending unit, or is there another place (like a high or low pressure sending unit) that I can tap into for the autometer oil pressure sending unit? Oh yeah, it's a 420A engine. Any help would be great. Thanks.

oil pressure sending unit??

im lost.. i dont have the turbo kit yet... i also have the 420a engine... where do i install the oil pressure gauge wires i guess i have it mounted on my dual pod...

im sorry the whole installation... the gauge is electrical

Ive got that same problem, I have the turbo installed and the line for the oil supply t'ed off to the stock sender, I would like to find another oil port but I'm beginning to think the 420a doesn't have any other ports for oil. I guess we are going to have to t the 3 things together.....(the stock sender, new sender and oil supply for turbo).....this means Id have to drill into the aluminum t for the new sender and tap it out. I'm just worried this will pull the structural integrity from it and it may snap or bend when I put it back into the motor.

Help!

what kind of oil line are you using for your turbo? if you are using braided line then it's easy. take your line to lowes or some place like it and find a t thar fits that line. cut the line get two more an fittings. install fittings, put the t tween' um and run your pressure sending unit from the t. your oil system is pressured wherever you tap it. (except the drain for the turbo.) thats what i did and it worked fine.

is it an autometer? well i was just under my car doing this believe it or not LOL. go to home depot and buy a 3/8 female tee, a 3/8 hex nipple, and a 3/8 to 1/8 reducer. also go to autozone and get a oil pressure sending unit socket. all the parts together cost about $12 now just go under the car, remove that bright green plug on the driver side of the block.(had to push that red switch over, then press the tab and pull it out). now use the oil pressure sender socket and remove the sender. now the order of fittings goes as follows.

Stock sending unit >> 3/8 female tee >> 3/8 hex nipple >> block
v
v
3/8 to 1/8 reducer

oil pressure sending unit

use teflon paste on all the threads. as for the power wires, i tapped my light wire to the cigarette lighter light wire in the center console by the cig lighter(green i believe) and i tapped the power wire to the black/ white wire of the upper ecu harness.

and to the turbo dude, why not tap both off the same place? thats what im gonna do when i get my turbo put on. i already bought a 1/8 female tee and a 1/8 hex nipple to do so.

hope that helped

alright i just went and took some pics. the last one is what it will look like when i have the turbo feeding from there too. sorry it was quite hard to get a good pic with it installed.

I know this was a PITA to try and line up and write out, Chris. To show my appreciation, let me just link people to some pictures of what I did this morning with an engine on a stand. Why, you might just say I did this exact install (minus the wire up). Talk about having perfect timing. I also played around with some fittings to show different ways to set it all up. :sneaky:

The funny thing is, I still have a half a Neon harness that I'm not even using. It's really not as bad as it looks. You got four wires for all the injectors, then two for channel 1, another two for channel 2. Run your switched 12VDC line over there and you have a bundle. Otherwise, it's pretty straight forward. I have to run about 4 more through the firewall today. Two for my ignitiond modules and another two just in case I'd like to upgrade in the future. I also need to run my vac line for the MAP. Have to figure out what size the line is, as I don't actually have my MS in yet.

The engine looks even better in person. The valve cover is too nice to install before the engine is in the car. I don't want to scratch anything. LOL I'm leaving the house here in few minutes to go get the last of my odds and ends and hopefully get that engine installed tonight. Working solo most of the day.

She will make it to the SO. Good luck with that turbo set up. You've been doing some homework on that set up. Keep me posted, wiseguy.

Is it hard to get access back there? I'm actually doing my turbo kit install right now minus the fuel stuff because it hasn't arrived yet. I'm not running the car though until it arrives.

no not at all. if you read on 2gnt.com they all bi*** about how it was the hardest part of the install. if thats true the install should be a breeze then. just throw it up on jackstands, get on the creeper and its all right there for you

Alrighty that sounds easy, its got to be accessed from the bottom though hey? Not from the top... that thing looks pretty far down there. OMG

yes from the bottom. i could barely see it from the top.

:tease: My VC gasket went a few months back too. It was only like 15 bucks at the dealer, I installed it when I was replacing my valve guides. Good thing it wasn't anything big. :thumb:

when you put those T fittings in the back, MAKE SURE you use teflon and tighten everything REALLY good. It took me 3 times to get that thing not to leak.

gsgoinfast you rock!! all your fittings were right on, i just installed my oil sender and wired it all up after a trip to home depot...i didnt even need to make a 2nd trip!!

p.s. with the star kit the oil line will reach to the end of the fitting like you have set up for!!

this was the post i have been looking for, for over 3 weeks and it came with pictures..!!

haha thanks man, glad i could help. the mid project scramble to home depot is horrible, but the mid project 2nd scramble to home depot trying to make it before it closes, making it there 5 minutes before it closes, and having some bi*** tell you "Um sir, we're preparing to close." is the worst! yea im preparing to buy something! LOL sorry that really made me mad the other night.

yeah I hear ya on the store preparing to close, Ive got that I dont know how many times before..anyhow...

teflon on those fittings is a nessisary, I put it on mine but im still waiting on my downpipe to start the car and see what kinds of leaks I have, oil, water, fuel, air, the list of parts I added is extensive....Any how good luck with the vortech fmu....I just installed one, it was last weeks headache....If you need I can take pics of my install I managed to get it by the fuel filter...

Well Oil is almost cheaper than gas by the gallon

i found out why oil prices are so high. some government finance guy came to my school and i asked him. everyone bitches about how its bush's fault or because of the iraq war, but when you look at it nothing has really changed drastically in that area since the prices started getting rediculous(more then before). whats causing prices on everything to go up is China and India, the 2 most populated countries, are industrializing and changing from 3rd would nations to first world i guess you would say LOL. so its put such high demand on everything, while supplies arent up for it, i think you can figure the rest. so thats what some government guy told me, i thought that was interesting

hum, time for better synthetics i guess.....and alot more of them...!!! spaeaking of oil my car been burning it or the small leak i have is bigger than i think it is, a little over 1 qt for 300 miles..... :notgood:
