Baer Brakes

John,
With Baer being local, the shipping is going to be a waste. Just get them direct or through Intense.

Kevin

Ya I'm sure they are friggin heavy so shipping will be alot. I will call intense and bear directly to see whose price is better.

$745 for Brake Kit
$135 for Cross Drilled/Slotted/ Zinc Washed Rotors
$175 for Red Powder Coated Calipers
$54.88 shipping

Total $1,109.88

Then I got the matching rear rotors from Extreme which took 2 months because they sent me the worng rotors.

Why do you want brakes that are much heavier than stock and use a floating caliper that gives the same crappy pedal feel as the stockers?
TCE or stoptech is the way to go IMO.

Nick, have you personally driven DSM's with Baers? I've driven both hard and I was really disappointed in the TCE's. Not at all what I was hoping for. Theoretically they should have been incredible, but the Baers were much more linear when hot.
BTW I think the AMS price is wrong on the 12" kits. They are more supposed to be more expensive than the 13" cause they are cut down.

Yes I have, 13" baers. Personally I didn't like them as much as the TCEs I have. What pads were used on the TCE brakes? If they were the tan pads those things are absolute junk, I hate those pads. For street driving the polymatrix D pads work much better.

A lot of times people don't put enough weight into pad choice. No matter what caliper or rotor you run if the pads suck your brakes will suck, period. Just my .02 cents worth.

I've been in both. I also like the Baer's over the TCE's. 1st off, the rotors are to thin no matter what some say. After 2 hard stops the rotors were heat spotted. I know 2 local guys who sold there TCE's after only a short usage.

John, check your PM on the Baer brakes.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I'm not saying that the TCE's are bad but the Baer's are just sooo good even after repeated hard stops. The TCE's seem to get a little heat soaked and crap out. The only difference I noticed from the Tan pads to the Poly D's, is the D's are VERY grabby with very little pedal pressure as they get hot. But they didn't seem any different once they were really hot. I think it would be a totally different story with thicker Willwood rotors. I think the ones used in the TCE kit are rated for a 2400lb car.

They aren't "cheap" by my 17x8 Tanturms fit. There was on guy on the board that got them to fit I tried an the rim spokes as you said would have hit the calpiier. Baer's spec sheet even showt that the GSX rims don't fit. MR7's might fit since they are basically the same rims and much cheaper. My rims are 40mm off set.

I LOVE my Baer brakes! The difference between stock single-piston, 10" rotors and these is stark. I didn't bling them at all--stock, vented rotor with no slots or drilling. I run Performance Friction Z-rated on the street and 01 compound on the track. I have never had fade and they are fantastic. In normal street driving, I can come to an easy stop while using only 1/2" of pedal travel. Very linear and easy to modulate. I looked at TCE and decided I wanted the 13" rotor from Baer. At the time (I don't know if it is still true) but TCE was a 12.X something rotor.

While at track days at VIR, I had my instructor in the car for the first day. He also drove a DSM and was very impressed with my brakes. So impressed, he showed up to the next event with a set on his DSM. Back straight is hard on the brakes at 125 mph at braking marker #2.

I would definitely like to try the Stoptechs someday. They make great looking brakes and I would be interested in feeling the difference between the two sets.

The B kit does not clear the stock 17" wheel?
I find this hard to believe. The PBR is quite compact and should have no problem with this at all. I cleared the stock wheel with the 13" kit (.81 width) and the four pot caliper. I don't believe the wider 1.10 will clear it however. Given the B is 1.10 as well the only reason I can see for this not working is its one piece hat/rotor design which does not have enough depth to the hat. You might want to ask them if they can supply you with a deeper offset hat and two piece rotor kit instead. This should easily do what you want it too.

Found 'em for $680 here

I have a set on my firebird, and the rotors by all means are not light. If you are concerned about the weight, look into their *blah* rotors, that should make them comparable.

For a hair under $700... you can't lose!

Who sells Baer Brakes?(besides Baer smartasses  )

I can't believe a site mod ask that question. Had to rub my eyes and read it twice.

I'm with Nick (NDgsx) on this. Baers are the the best bang for the buck, but not the most ideal. But if you must... you don't need to spend $680 to get the same thing.

Check this thread... http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=123585

Oh dear, I mentioned another site that isn't a site sponsor.

just to let you know thats for a bare rotor. i called hopupracing and got a price and it was about 130$ more then that plus shipping. cross drilling and slotting and zinc coating adds up to 130$ plus 50$ for shipping and the wait time is like 4-6 weks.
