Hello everyone I resently purchased a hahun super 16g and i belife i have to upgrade my fuel pump should i go with the 190 or the 255. Also should i get an afc for this I do already have a datta logger. Thanks everyone. If it helps I have no cat as well on a 1998 gst. thanks again.

You have a 16G do you also have an FMIC. If your going with a bigger turbo definatly get the 255. The 190 is ok but later on down the line your going to still have to go to a 255 if you want to make more power. Also bigger injectors and a FPR is needed. So i would highly recommend you get atleast 550cc injectors, a good FPR and also the walpro 255lph hp.With all that said buy yourself an AFC so you can control the flow that your injectors will be putting out, If you dont your going to be running pig rich and wasting gas you dont need to.

But why not get the walpro 255, for 95 bucks he can get that and an install kit included.

if you go with the 255 your going to need a afpr. The 190 will flow plenty for now though. What are your goals with the car. In what direction are you heading. If the 16g is the biggest your going to go then the 190 will suit you fine. But if you are really going to put some power down then its not a bad idea for you to consider the 255 and a afpr.

A few simple reasons:

  1. Either of the Evo pumps can be had for 20-40 bucks shipped
  2. Are also are not prone to possible "whining" that some Walbro products have had issues with
  3. Are OEM and are very capable/reliable
  4. Direct replacement (no need for install kit)
  5. The pumps for either Evo flow close to the 190 (Evo 8 a little less, Evo 9 a little more) but less than the 255
  6. Either pump should be more than sufficient to supply fuel for any 16G

With the 255, you are required (by DSM law) to also purchase an AFPR (with install kit) and possibly a second FP gauge.

my first turbo upgrade was a hahn racecraft super 16g. I also had 550cc injectors, walbro 255, rewire kit, FMIC and AFC and aeromotive AFPR it worked out well.

i'd say
255lph
550cc
FMIC
SAFC
AFPR

and you should be good to go..

I just finished my turbo setup (EVO III 16G). I decided to go with a Walbro 190 lph pump and I don't regret it at all. Saved money by not having to buy a AFPR and just dyno'd at 318whp ;)

Wow thank you all so much everybody here has been so helpfull. Thanks again. I dont plan on going any bigger than my 16g however I have my blow off vented into the atmoshpere and from my understanding you should have an afc if you do that so maybe i should go with the 255 if im going to keep it that way on the other hand it would be cheaper just to route it back into my intake that way if I did go with the 190 i wouldnt need an afc right? I dont have a front mount as of yet im looking at getting one i would love to make about 315 or so hp. Thanks again for all the information. My biggest worry is getting and afc and being confused with how to tune it im pretty good with electronics and everything but im bad at reading directions. And i dont want to mess my car up haha. If anybody has anything else please feel free to share. Thanks again everybody this site is bad ass.

Don't vent to the atmosphere unless you have a blow through setup. You're just going to be running extra rich because air is escaping the car that was already accounted for by your airflow sensor.. Recirculate.

One more thing if i decide to go with the 190 do i even need an afc.

For the fuel pump.....no. For the bigger injectors that will be required to run the 16G effeciantly....yes.

Make no mistake, once you bump up from the T25 to a 16G, you WILL eventually want to go bigger. Just "suck it up" now and get the 255. And although others may not agree, to do a 190 correctly without any possibility of FPR over-run will also require an AFPR.

Not always true.. I wanted to build a 16g 300+whp car and I have it.. Not planning on getting a bigger turbo. Look into the future and see what you want. I am running fine on my 190 and now AFPR.. Get the S-AFC though.. you will def. be putting in injectors and even if you don't, it's still a good thing to have because you might need to add fuel randomly with the added heat of higher boost..

Ok I just called hahn and they said they always install the 255 on eclipses and you dont need an afpr or an afc they have never had a problem and they have been doing this for awhile. Now obviously i cant run a crazy amount of boost like this but whats up with that.

Maybe they were high at the time you called.

You can certainly do whatever you want to do; however, plenty of people have tried the 255 w/no AFPR and also bigger injectors without a tuning device and have had VERY shi!!y results from that combo.

Give their advice a try and tell us what happens afterward. Or you can just do it right in the first place which would entail a AFPR with a 255 FP and some way to tune the larger injectors.

haha ok then ill just have to do the whole shabang what fpr the aeromotive? Should i get rc injectors or what i know im going to go with 550s just dont know what brand or are they all about the same. and the feul pressure should be set at 43lbs right?

Why would you want to do things twice. Do it one time and do it correctly. No reason to go with a 190 ,unless your looking for just the right amount of boost to get away from doing the required setup for the future. I would just do it one time and one time only, a 190 will only get you so far.

Idk. I wanted a cost effective Evo3 16g dsm, and now I have it. I don't regret my 190.. I'm not planning on changing my turbo. All depends on the posibility of change in the future. For me it's probably not, for him who knows. All depends on the person.
