Melissa and I had a chance to head over to Kruse Auction Park this morning to catch some of the local SCCA action and practice some panning technique. Kyle's run group hits the track around 3:00 so we may head back to catch some pics of the blue bomber in action. In the meantime, here's a few shots from the morning session. All shots were taken with a Minolta Maxxum 7D, with a Minolta 100-300 lens (crap) and a circular polarizer. Aperture was at 9.5 with ISO set to 100 and variable shutter speed (1/45 to 1/90th of a second).

I had the choice between sitting around watching Michael Schumacher tie the F1 points race or go back and see Kyle run. We opted for the latter. The camera and lens were the same, but we picked a different location around the back half of the course. Since the light was much brighter, Melissa shot at F22 with the ISO set to 100. I think she got some amazing shots.

And last, but not least, here's our sponsored driver Kyle Mavis tearing up the track. I think his shots came out beautifully and the richness from the lighting was spot on. In case anyone's interested, these were minimally processed in Adobe Lightroom and scaled in Photoshop on a G4 Mac DP 1.7...

Kyle's car looks awesome. I also really like the black subaru, he looks like he was haul'n! Your wife is very talented with the camera, these are some really good pics. They definately make me want to get out there and drive...one day little blue...one day... (shrug)

Wow, those are amazing Andy. Too bad the car was having issues with the power steering cutting out in some of the corners and my times couldn't back up the car's looks. Of course having dealt with all these issues, 4 months off didn't help either. Expect a full writeup on Tuesday of the event. I've even got some video footage as well.
