Hey all,
I am trying to remove my downpipe to install a wideband o2 sensor. My problem is one of the two bolts at the end of the downpipe, which connects to the cat, will not come off. Its the one kinda hard to get to. I have tried wd40, liquid wrench, pb blaster, I have tried kicking the wrench from the other side. I have also tried a torque wrench, but it just slips off. I got it loosened up somewhat but it just tightens up again. Now I am in a rut because the bolt is kinda stripped, so I tried using the bolt-out tool, and the wrench won't fit over the bolt-out. Also, I can only safely jack up my car on jackstands about a foot and a half because my driveway is messed up. Please, I need much help so I can get my car inspected ASAP. Thanks.

I have sprayed it every day for a weak now and It's still stubborn. Il try again tonight. thanks.

i think what you got there is a nice big RUSTED BOLT.... i had the same problem with my heat shield cover.... it would loosen a bit and tighten up, i kept turning it, and the bolt just broke.....

try an Air gun to see if it will loosen it, you just have to try to JERK it to get the rust of, but gluck and keep sprayin

im having the same problems with the two main bolts that connect the cat to the dp. also try using a blow torch (have someone teach you how to use it first). if you don't know what a blow torch looks like, try the link to see:

fire that sucker up, and heat up the bolt for a solid 10-15 minutes. don't heat up the same spot on the bolt the whole time. continuously move the torch so that the flame is heating different spots every few moments or so. a circular motion is recommended.

if this still doesn't work (it didn't work for me yesterday:( ) then take it to a mechanic shop of some kind and ask (or show) them to remove that bolt for you. you can also ask them to lube up the bolt with Anti-Sieze. if you are sucessful yourself with getting the bolt off, use Anti-Sieze yourself.

if the bolt is in really really bad shape, you may have to go down to Satan or somewhere that offers oem parts (Napa or similar) to order a new oem bolt.

I have had the best luck hitting the bolt to loosen it up a little. Then using a 3 foot breaker bar to break it loose. Use a 6 point socket, they fit more snug. I've tried heating, PB blaster, air gun, etc. The leverage of a long breaker bar has always worked best for me.

Thanks for the replys everyone. I will go out tonight and buy a breaker bar to see if that works. Also, I have a blowtorch, but since ive been spraying liquid wrench and wd40 all over the area, I don't want it to catch on fire. I may just try to hack it off or break it off.

You mentioned liquid wrench and wd40.......but you didn't mention pb blaster. Have you actually used pb blaster? Liquid wrench doesn't even compare, and wd40, well that's just a joke compared to pb blaster. You should really go a buy a can if you haven't tried it yet. The breaker bar isn't a bad idea also.

Just an update: I just got it off today after buying new bolt outs that where longer and using a smaller torque wrench. It finally came off. Thanks for everyone's help in this matter.
