I have been running a Megan racing afpr for probably 4 months now. Just recently I have been experiencing problems. I set my fp at 37 psi. I randomly go to drive my car and all of a sudden, I have no power and it starts poping when I hit 5psi of boost at like 3500 rpmsWTF ! I pop my hood to see if there is any apparent problems. My afpr is set to 20psi!!!!!!. This was the 3rd or 4th time it has done this. I have also had it raise above what I set it to. Any ideas or thoughts on what the buttlove is making my afpr do this?

I have the set screw really, really tight and it still does this.

I emailed Megan and this is the response I got:

Our Fuel Pressure Regulators are not compensating and remain at a
constant
set pressure which can be adjusted and preset by the tuner.

I was disappointed to find this out since mine just arrived today. Oh well, I'll have to deal with it for now.

Could this be why I have uncontrollable knock at 15 psi with my setup? I know I have boost leaks but that just makes me run rich, right?

Yes that would be a reason why. The FPR is supposed to raise fuel pressure on a 1:1 Ratio with boost. if you run 15 psi it should add 15 psi more of fuel. But according to this you are minue the extra 15 psi of fuel, you are probably running super lean now under boost.

Could be, because from the sounds of what they say it basically stays at the set psi. When it should actually be increasing psi with the load that is being put on the engine. But then again im not for sure.

I dont understand the respone I got from Megan anyway. If it doesnt compensate then why is their a spot to hook up the vacuum line. Also I am having some trouble with the install of this POS. The "bracket" that they include to bolt on to the rail does not go into the rail like the stock regulator. I had it hooked up and I turned on the fuel pump and gas shot out from the bracket. Right now I have it running off of the stock regulator with the vacuum line on the megan. Do you think this will be ok? I havent started it yet. Heres a pic of the bracket, so you can see what I mean.

Anybody know if its ok to keep the stock regulator on and run the megan off of it?

Well I started it up and it seems to be ok. The psi on the megan does change if you take of or put on the vacuum line. From this I assume that it does compensate, atleast to a certain degree.

NO! STOP! BAD!

1. It wont work. The stock fpr will lean the shit out of your setup when boost comes because it will not be able to compensate for the positive pressure. The MR afpr will only be a passage for fuel returning to the tank.

2. Its a universal kit designed primerily for the 240sx. I had to make my own fitting to allow the afpr to work. It not a good kit IMO. And turns out it's not a 1:1 afpr!

Yeah I was thinking about it last night and you are definately right. I completely took the megan out of the setup until I can get something else to attach to the rail. What exactly did you use?

This kit was msotly made for hondas, call up SlowboyRacing and they will NOT RECOMMEND A MEGAN FPR for dsm use. Aeromtoive is the way to go, pay to play. Although I do use MR donwpipe. This topic has been beaten to death.

As you can see by my beautiful setup :thumb:, I had to fabricate my own fitting that would accept basic fuel line and a clamp (not AN line ).

So is it or is it not a -6an return fitting needed to get it hooked up? So would/could this be an alright kit if hte install was done properly?

Not, and IMHO no. It's not even 1:1 which is obviously required by any force fed engine.

Alright. I got the pic I think will clear things up on why the -6AN fitting doesnt solve any problems with the kit.

You can see the 25$ -AN fitting to the left-most, the custom peice I made to the top, and the stock fpr to the right-most.
