whats up guys, i was just wondering where most of you's have afc's mounted. i like the center vent install but my car was recently broken into to steal a WELL hidden amp so i dont feel right putting the afc right there in such a visible area. i've seen a guy on here i believe with the afc mounted to his visor so when he flips it down its pretty much a HUD. but does anyone have it somewhere else. pictures would be cool but doesnt really matter.
all replies are appreciated.

I've looked into this myself and there is only a few places people put them
right now mine is mounted on top of my steering colom . I want to move it so that it sits under my stereo. I have also seen people mount them on the roof and run the wires under the headliner and down the a pillar i think this looks very sweet but is propably the most work.

Right now mine is sitting on the passanger floor area, but I plan on putting it below the stereo with a custom plate. Since my stereo is only single DIN it should turn out pretty good.

If I told you where I hid mine, then I'd have to kill you... j/k

Mine was once mounted under the radio but it got stolen from there. Now I have it in my center console.

Im with the under the radio club. It fits perfect with a switch on the side of it and is out of the way and clean. Not too noticable to outsiders. If you have a black one its better, I painted the casing on my safc1 so it would blend in better. If you are really worried about theft you could design a flip up cover for it so it would look like a single din.

Mount it in the glove box.
In the glovebox would be tough to reach when making adjustments on the DYNO or something. I would tuck it under the radio, but maybe make a little door to get at it & close to conceal it.

The center console mounting can be good too. Very stealthy & concealed when closed. :talon:

I built a little stand for it so it fits perfectly in the center console,. I'll get pictures of it tomorrow when it's light out.

mine is on top of the center vents, held up w/ velcro. once i'm done driving, it hides in my locked up glove box. you know, the cord is long enough.

I've got mine in the visor-I'll try to get pics up this afternoon (I don't have them with me at work).
The install is clean and it stays out of the way. Definitely helped when the car (just prior to my purchasing it) was broken into and the gauges in the A-pillar were stolen, along with a nav unit-but the visor wasn't touched.

yeah i always wanted to mount one in the visor, people wont see it when the car is parked, and it can give more of a sleeper look. if i ever get one thats where its going.

In the armrest. Then I unplug it an take it with me when I get out of the car for the night.

Damn Theives

are the wire actually that long that you can hide them in your visor...how hard was to modify the visor to fit the afc in there

Truth be told, I didn't do the install on the one's in my visor-the previous owner did-but Drew may still lurk here from time to time, or perhaps someone else who was around when he did it up in PA.
-The wires seem to be plenty long enough to have both of them in the visor, that's based off my install of gauges/turbo timer/etc, hence spending a lot of QT under the steering column and such-the wires for both seem to be to be spliced in fine without any serious hacking or complications due to length.
-I can't comment on the difficulty of modifying your visor-my suggestion would be to get one from somewhere to hack while you leave your stock one on. It makes the visor slightly thicker than normal, but it's not noticeable and doesn't weigh on it enough to make it drop or anything.

The irony being neither one is actually in use-I'm not going to undo the wiring for fear of messing something up-but the car is actually being tuned of DSMLink and the Palm interface (which I have installed just to the right of the stereo.) The triple gauge pod is a pretty good indicator that I don't mind all that stuff in the car, so leaving them in place is really not a problem for me.
