OK this really really sucks!!! my motor i think is blown...OK i was getting on the freeway to go home when my car was making a really bad knocking sound so i got off the freeway and when i was slowing down my car just stalled. so i started it up and didn't really knock on idle. but when i started to accelerate it began to knock really bad. so i parked it. it was over heating a little so let it cool down for about an hour then started it up againit started to knock really loud again right away! and then i also noticed when i was driving it would build full boost but my car wouldnt go NOWHERE. i am so confused and frustrated right now...LOL not even funny...i just don't know where to start or do. should i just go take it to a shop? i am so lost right now  any help

If you don't think you can do the work yourself yes, take it to a shop.
First thing I would do is make sure your timing is correct.
Second thing I would do is drain the oil into a clean container and look for metal shavings.

thanks man i will do that asap...yea but i think i will just take it to a shop though... kinda sucks though...LOL thanks

Was this sound more like a single ball bearing in an empty can being shook around? Or was it more like someone rapidly tapping on the block with a wrench? Did the noise get louder with engine speed? Under load? Unloading?

Could be pretty much anything from a spun rod bearing to lost timing (w/ interference). Since you can't work on it yourself, I'd suggest you get it in to a professional ASAP. Have it towed there. Do not drive this car.

Sorry, man. Either way, it's going to probably set you back some serious change. :(

yea this really sicks!!! mark mitsubishi called and gave the verdict and its not NICE!!!...LOL
well the motor is gone, thrust bearing shot, crank shaft shot, well basicly im ####ed!!!
i have two options 1 getting a whole new motor ofr 7800 from mitsubishi, or a new short block from mitsubishi for 6100!!! im so screwed !!! yea so thats the skinny my freinds..

I have a freind that has a shop, and he is pretty wise with the DSM's. Next time I see him I will have him check this thread out asap. I'm sure he can get you going much cheaper than MM.

Your best shot is to go to JDM engine swap. I purchased a 6-bolt about 8 months ago from a shop in Gilbert, AZ named TMG Auto. I paid about $1200 for it, I think he sells 7-bolts for about $1500.
