Wow nice video! I could not stop laughing after that dude lit his freaking cigarette off the exhaust mani LOL! I've never seen a manifold/turbo glow THAT bright, that shit was crazy. May have been because you were running rich, but I am not sure.

LOL, I've done that few times.
Are you sure that you are running pig rich and not very lean??
running very rich, can raise EGT's dangerously high, but it takes VERY,VERy high fuel amounts. It is usualy a very lean condition that causes high EGT's and glowing headers.
At any rate, I hope you get it taken care of! :)
Nice show though. :thumb:

Or in his case a glowing manifold LOL!

Ummm, that's a header, not a manifold. :) But hey, they do the same thing right?! :)

Pockerloggers are dirt cheap!!!
Just buy a 10-20 dollar palm from Ebay. At least get a PalmIIIc. It has a color screen and makes the lines on the graph easier to see as you can assign different colrs to each item you are logging.
Then get a logger cable..... again dirt cheap!
Then you can use the MMCD tools program, Best one out)
If you need help with the MMCD tools or the logger, let me know. I may even have one for sell... I'll check if I still have it.

Ummm no. A header is what a pathetic non-turbo car has to route exhaust gases from the engine to your tail pipe. A manifold is what a turbocharged car uses to collect the exhaust gases from each cylinder and dump them through a turbine which spins a centrifugal fan to suck in more air for inductive power. Hardly the same.

okay, okay.... I'm not here to play Dictionary.
But when was the last time you heard the term "Tubular manifold"?
Anyway... I know some "Pathetic non turbo" DSM's that are hanging with the NONpathetic turbo ones. And ALL TEL's have always left the factory with exahust maifolds instead of headers weather they are turbo or non turbo.
And yes, a HEADER can be used on a turbo car... Check some of the sites. TUBULAR headers are actually very popular because they flow much better than a FACTORY (non tubular) manifold.
You see, the correct decription of a header is this...
A header uses a flange to connect to the head with holes cut for each port. From these holes, run tubes (called primary tubes) to a single collector (where all of the tubes come together to form one large opening) Which in turno flows MUCH better than a manifold which is described as follows...
An exahust manifold is made of a usually made from a cast material and is usually one piece. It consists of a cast body that connects the ports of the head into a large shaired chamber to which the gasses all exit through a restrictive opening. This shaired chamber lets the gasses swirl and collect rather than exit freely and is often replaced with a more free flowing tubular design header as an upgrade.
They both serve the same function, so what's the big deal? A tubular header just does a better job of it than a non tubular manifold.

Its not a big deal, and I admit that there is alot of debate on this topic (difference between manifolds and headers) in exhaust theory. I think most people in the dsm community prefer to call it a manifold (because it connects to a turbo and not an exhaust pipe) but I've seen it used interchangably.

These popular vendors also seem to agree:

I didn't mean to bash the n/a crowd, sorry. Lots of people call them turbo headers, or tubular manifolds, or turbo manifolds, it doesn't really matter. Most people on this forum will call them manifolds, although I am not sure if that in general that is what they are called...

98Turbo,
I don't seem to have my old logger setup anymore....
But I'll be more than happy to help you in anyway that I can. :)
I DID, however, find some nice packages for complete logging kits and also some nice prices on Palm's to make your own logging setup. Which would be cheaper)
Links are below. :)
