Clutch Pressure Problems

OK, I have been fightingg this problem for a long time now, but still have not figured it out yet. In the morning my clutch pedal feels fine(every once and a while I have to pump it a couple times before it will go into gear) but after I drive for a bit the pressure builds up and the engagement point moves away from the fire wall. I replaced my clutch with an act 2100 about a year ago, I have installed a new master cylinder, installed a new slave cylinder, installed the ss line from slowboy, and I have bled many different times. I have also tried to adjust it many time and still no luck.
Any help with this would be great.

You have the opposite problem most have, yours starts low pressure and builds, while most people like me, start of with ok pressure and gets worse.

I've never of heard of your issue.

Did you bleed it using a hose as shown here?

Yeah, I have read about problem's like this on rre's website as the "2G pedal pump up" but I could not adjust it out like they say.

I used a bleader kit from autozone that is similar to that one.

Also I forgot to mention that when the pressure is built up, I can use my foot to pull up on the pedal and I can fill a "click" or "pop" and then all the prerssure is released.
I have wondered if it could be the pedal assembly itself, but think more that it is a hydrolic problem.

humm... I thought only 1gs have the pedal problem due to the location of the master cylnder but sounds like you have some freeplay. I would get under the dash and check it out, couldn't help you much there because I don't know what a 2g pedal assembley looks like.

Sounds like your adjustment point is blocking an orifice:

I have tried to adjust those points before, and got no improvement, I don't know if I just did not get it adjusted right or what, but I have tried many times. It may make it a little better when I have the top adjusment out more, but then it grabs right off the floor and when I adjust it to have some room off the floor I am back to the pressure build up thing.

Did you ever get this problem figured out? I'm having the same problem now. When I start the car in the morning I have almost no pedal pressure and after driving for a while it pumps up and my engagement point moves away from the firewall. If I park it for a while the engagement point moves back down and pedal pressure gets softened again.

Mine will do it about once a month. I've replaced slave, master, clutch, ripped out accumulator and it still happens.

NO, I have not figured it out yet.....It is really making me mad though. I drive my car a min. of 100 miles a day now, and it is very annoying in the morning rushhour traffic. The only thing I can think of is that the Master is still bad even though I replaced it.
Maybe one of these days I'll replace that again. If you figure anything out let me know.

Do we have an update on this? Mine is still doing it too. I have the upper stop backed out ALL THE WAY and the master cylinder rod is somewhere in the middle. The clutch pedal sits about the same height as my brake pedal, but it's still really soft in the morning and then after driving it a while it stiffens up.

I still have not fixed this, I just pulled my tranny and replaced my TOB and was hoping somehow that would be related and fix it (high hopes, I know) but no such luck. I don't know about yours but when mine gets "pumped up" enough I can no longer push the peadal to the floor, it feels like it is bottoming out before it gets there. When it does this I am able to grab the peadal by hand and pull it up and it will release all the pressure. I have tried adjusting the top adjustment out and it did not make a difference.

I have adjusted both adjustments to the max in each way to try to make it better, but I had no luck. I know the pics in that article are for a 1G, and my car is a 2G. There is an adjustment on both sides of the clutch pedal, one is the rod adjutment, and the other is the pedal lenght. Those are the two I have adjusted, if there is somewhere else to make adjustments please let me know.

Ya and just mess with the rod adjustment which is the master cylinder.. If you dont give that atleast a half inch of freeplay at the beginning of your pedal your gonna ruin your master cylinder and your gonna burn the hell out of your clutch.. do this.. slowly push down the clutch VERY SLOW and if it sticks to the floor that means you need a new clutch master cylinder.. if it doesnt stick then just rebleed it.. if that dont help i can take pics of my assembly so you get the idea of how much thread should be showing on the rod..

I have replaced the master and slave cylenders, and put the ss line on. I have also bled it countless times. I have a gst that I have compared the adjuments to also. I am not sure what else it could be unless my clutch pedal assebly is defective, or the pressure plate or flywheel is defective. The wierd part is how if when it has the pressure built up I can pull up on the pedal and it will release the pressure????

Yea this is exactly what mine does too. What was your flywheel step at? When you guys say freeplay, does that mean there is absolutely no force needed to push the clutch that distance, or just that it doesn't start to disengage for the first 1/2 inch?

the freeplay is when you apply pressure and as soon as you feel resistance, the distance the clutch has traveled is the amount of freeplay.

to make it easier what hes trying to explain ... freeplay is simply what it is freeplay.. when you begin to push the clutch pedal down you want some "freeplay at the beginning" basically there should be about 1 inch of pushing down the clutch at the beginning where you do not feel any sign of the clutch engaging.. then afterwords you will feel pressure.

I figured I would post back since I was having the exact same problem as you. I pulled my trans a few days ago and found that my act disc killed itself and that's what the problem was. The hub snapped off a little tab that is used to hold a spring so the spring popped out. The hub is only held by 3 rivots and those were VERY loose as well. There's a thread floating around on act discs losing springs so you might want to check that out. Good luck.

I have had my tranny out twice since this problem began and the disc/pp looked ok, but I keep wondering if that is what is causing this.... One day when I hace the money I will buy a new one and find out.
