Yes, the time has come, i tried to stall and post in my regional section of dsmtuners for a fellow dsmer to help me out with a clutch install. I have had no replies and my car is becoming less and less driveable (clutch slipping HARD). I have got to get this thing to a shop SOON or else it is going to just stop catching at all. Please help me on the following subjects.

1. I want whoever puts in my clutch to put in the tranny fluid i want (i have chose syncromesh).. how much will i need to provide for my tranny (i heard 2.5 liters.. is this correct)

2. Would you guys recommend a repair shop or a performance shop do this job? (keep in mind it has to be someone that will use the upgraded clutch i bought and not insist on using their own parts)

3. How much is a fair deal for a clutch change considering i am providing all the components?

4. is there anything else i am going to need or should have done with the clutch?(i have pressure plate, disc, throwout bearing, alignment tool and will have tranny fluid tomorrow)

I believe that the shop that installed my clutch and flywheel charged about $200 to do it. But I also had them drop my tranny to be repaired, so that cost may have included that also.

i recently had my ACT clutch installed also. to answer your questions...

-take it to a transmission specialist shop, not just a general repair shop, i had no hassle with them trying to sell me things i didnt need.

-locally, the best deal i could find for installing my new clutch , was $350, i called every shop within reasonable distance, most quoted around $400-$500 (<--ridiculous, if you ask me)

-read into maybe getting a new flywheel. if you choose not to, make sure that wherever you take it, they will re-surface your old one.

Actually, it's something like 2.8 Quarts. Just buy 3 quarts and you'll have a little left over when you're done.

Anything less than $500. It should take them anywhere between 4 and 7 hours.

I would also get a stainless clutch line to replave that rubber one. Other than that, it sounds like you have everything.... :thumb:

Give them a call first just to see how much it would be for a clutch install. Make sure to ask them if you can bring parts in from other sources for them to install if the price sounds right.

Let us know what they tell you.

I called direct performance, they told me 400 bucks for the labor, and 40 bucks for the resurfacing of the flywheel. They are a strictly dsm shop. What do you guys think of getting a new flywheel put in, useless or better off spending my money on an exhaust?
