I just finished my EVO 3 swap and I did a pull and did not have such good results.

rpm timing o2
3696 15 .92
4100 11 .96
4300 12 .96
4432 13 .96
4828 13 .96
5084 12 .96
5236 12 .96
5532 11 .98
5772 12 .98
5932 13 .98
6104 12 .98
6356 12 .98
6400 12 .98
6640 13 .98
6832 14 .98

I am running the EVO 3 engine with 8.8:1 compression, EVO 3 16g, FIC 650, SAFC 2,and mbc set a 16 psi but creeping to like 18 or 19 psi. The intake temps seemed to be pretty steady at about 35 degrees farenheit.

Looks like timing is being pulled from 5000 rpms and higher, although your O2 is pretty high. From what i have read, you should have 18-19 degrees of advance near redline. You could try adding some fuel to see if timing goes up any. If it doesn't, you may be getting rich knocking, in which case take out some fuel and see if timing goes up.

You are definitely knocking from 5000 RPM on. What are your S-AFC settings at? I would add 5% fuel from 5000 on and do another log.

Stock 2g timing maps advance to 16* at redline. This will go up, however, if you are removing fuel with the AFC to compensate for larger injectors.

the SAFC settings are -30% all the way across the board right now. The o2 voltages seem so high though. I am not sure why it would be knocking.

I don't really know...I will give it a shot tom. and see what happens

Make sure the knock sensor is torqued properly. Check for boost leaks. Get a wideband you can't really trust those o2 voltages. Lean it out 1-3% and see if the knock goes away if not then richen it 1-3%. If the knock continues you may also have a bad batch of gas.

1. Check for leaks
2. Verify spark plug gap is between 0.026" and 0.028"
3. Verify that at WOT the TPS is >90%.
4. Set your TPS trigger points to 30% and 80%
5. Set the SAFC-II to -30 across the high throttle map.
6. Make a pull from 2.5k to redline and log O2, rpm, timing and airflow.

-28% across the board plus I turned the boost to about 16-17 psi.

rpm timing Airflow O2
3288 33 1.77 .78
3396 33 4.48 .06
3664 24 8.51 .88
4072 12 14.69 .96
4376 13 14.60 .96
4700 14 16.24 .96
4972 13 17.66 .98
5300 14 18.98 .98
5620 16 19.81 .98
5916 15 21.01 .98
6212 18 22.03 .98
6528 19 22.54 .98

Looks a lot better. You are still knocking a little at 5000 and 6000 RPM. Try adding 2-3% more fuel at those points. Also, your timing advance is a little high for pump gas. Once you get rid of the knock it will probably advance to 20+* at redline. To run higher boost on pump, you generally want to peak at about 16*.
Time to start considering an EPROM chip or DSMLink to compensate for those 650's.

Have you done a boost leak test?

Remember, you are telling the ECU that there is 28% less air going into the engine than there actually is. If you multiply your airflow numbers by 1.28, they are right around 30 lb/min at 6500, which seems right to me.

You can do 2 things here......

1.) Turn up the boost

or

2.) Lean things out a couple of percent from 4k up.

You are pushing 31.31 lbs/min or 2.18 g/rev at the SAFC and 1.57 g/rev at the ECU.

If it was my car, I would turn up the boost 2psi and make another pull. Also, is it possible for you to squeeze some more samples/sec out of your logger?

Then it looks like there is another problem. Comparing your log to my own, I am pushing more air and I'm on the "normal" timing curve. I. E. droping to ~8 or 9 degrees at the lowest point and peaking around 20+ degrees by redline. Your O2 voltage is pretty high and your injector compensation is too high (closer to zero than it should be).

Did you check the plugs? Do the leak test?

You should be able to go leaner with the 650's. -31% on the SAFC will put you back to the ECU's pig rich factory maps. You should therefore have to go even leaner to bring yourself up to a comfortable 11:1 (or so).

yeah that is what I had figured....I did put some new plugs in...however all they had at the time were 6's so maybe if I go to 7's or 8's they will help with the knock.

also...could it be that the EVO has no emmissions, and the 2g ecu thinks that there should be emmission controls? The CEL is on because none of the emmissions are there.
