cheapest option is 99% of the time stock replacement... you can get a used 4g63t for about 500 from a salvage yard

Why not? Why do what every one else dose? If you have the time money and know how i say go all out. make it rwd and put a 1uZfe in itbut since the eclipe shares the same front end as the chrysler sebring and dodge avenger which both come with a v-6 it say its possible even for the back yard...
