Your on 91 octane? Can you get higher octane gas? Also maybe double check the gas your using. What if its not actually 91? Maybe throw some octane booster in there.
That's what I tought first and flush my system, refill at two other stations without changing the results. 91 is currently the highest rating avalaible here. I could get 94 but the closest station is around 330 miles away :|

I get knock in any gear over 5k rpms..this is a new build large 16g turbo just to break it in with 650cc injectors tial blow off jmf intake ,Crower stage 2s. I can't find the single shop in Central Florida that can tune ecmlink and getting very frustrated if you guys know anybody that has experienced tuning ecmlink and Central Florida I'll pay them cash $50 an hour and compensate them for their drive if they live farther away.

I wouldn't rely on the dsm knock sensor for any reliable reading unless you're using a non stock ecu and can adjust the noise floor/ceiling. I also wouldn't zero out any timing retard degrees from your tune unless you're very familiar with what you're doing. Cliff notes: don't trust your knock sensor unless your car is 100% stock.

So today I tried to perfectionate the tune, Mafcomp has now a smoother line, whitch didn't help
I raised afr from 11:1 to 10:1
This kind of helped, the car now runs at a higher rpm before knocking, again by a good amount

I must say, I'm out of ideas

Here's another log

For reference i get similar results.
I have to pull timing to about 5DBTDC at an 11:1 at 5.5K

Were as i can triple timing if i aim at a 10:1

You cant trust gas unless you test it.
And at the end of the day, 10 is still better than OEM octane map anyway.

So if you cant find any viable solution currently, than just aim for 10, its a safe bet.

I apologize if you answered this already, you have a new knock sensor that is torqued correctly? Something doesn't add up.....You shouldn't be experiencing this type of behavior from the knock sensor. I have only experienced this type of symptom when my head gasket was leaking. You say that last year the car ran beautifully? What has changed since that time? Have you considered swapping out the injectors? You shouldn't have this much knock with your setup, your not making nearly enough power or boost. If i were you id put the stock injectors or a spare set and start over. What do your plugs look like? Like others have said , our knock sensor is a tiny microphone and isn't very sophisticated. Its probably something stupid.

I have trust issues with the sensor, it's the way there's no knock then it spikes really high. I have another log for the info

I run at 10:1 actually, I left it there but it's not enough, when knocks appear the afr drops even lower in the 9

Yes, I have changed the knock sensor since the other one started melting at the back, tighten it twice just to be sure. One major thing that has changed since last year is the ecmlink upgrade from v2.5 to v3. Other than that, fixed boost leak, new o2 sensor.
I've never though of changing the injectors, I may be able to source one set to give it a try
Like you said, I hope it's just a simple thing that I've missed since the begining

I've upload a log showing the results with the new settings and a pictures of the old plugs before I decided to changed them a couple of weeks ago

did you richen your tune to see if that would alleviate the knock? Running to rich can cause knock also. Source some new injectors and get back to us. Throw some stock ones in and bring the tune back to stock see what happens.

The knock sensor is a microphone that picks up on certain frequencies. Actual knock or detonation can be caused by many things. Ive noticed when spraying meth that it trips my knock sensor at the onset of spraying. So when the engine is either to rich or to lean. When I blew my headgasket and was pushing coolant the knock sensor went crazy. When im troubleshooting I go through every system. Our knock sensor is very primitive and very stupid.... youd be surprised.

You ever fix the issue

Here's the situation right now

Being not able to find the source of the problem whatever the actions I took allong with peoples who knew more than myself, I've decided to open the engine after a quiet but prononced knock from the base of the motor was constantly appearing after the the car was fully warmed up. Not to say that it was losing/burning oil like crazy

The only obvious thing we saw was egg shaped cylinders, making the piston slaps.
Parts are on their way, until then I'll let everybody know of any progress

Thanks for the update....did you measure the endplay before removing the crank?

I felt like dropping an update after all this time :)

I finished rebuilding the engine before storage, I also used oversized oem style pistons
The crank and rods were reused, balacer shafts deleted, new timing belt

I could not even drive it and went dirrectly into storage for the winter. Right now, there's about 2 feets of snow and it's about 0°F outside
Next time I work on this thing should be about May 2018 and see if everything worked out well

Summer season finally arrived, snow finally melted and I finally drove the car last month.

I've decided to breakin the engine just to be sure 1k miles before taking it for a spin

Before that, I fixed boost leaks, idle and cruise tuned it

After first pull from 3k rpm annddd ... knock again

I'm about to cry :ohdamn:

That's super weird, full engine rebuild and its in spec. Phantom knock?

I though about it :O Lifters sounds silent to me, I've looked for something loose, tighten what I tought it would cause a problem, retorque the knock sensor, I don't what I could be missing

I see you cleaned MAF and it's not running hot :thumb:. Upload a new log. It's using 16/19 degrees when knock starts from your last log.

Here is the first run of 2018
20 psi (can't do better with the boost creep of the 20g)

The second log was with the addition of meth injection
I had retorque the knock sensor and modified my downpipe so it wouldn't be rubbing on the transfer case anymore

The last log was a 40 minutes ride, injecting pure methanol this time

Just so you don't feel bad, I'm battling the same thing right now. I'm not as far along diagnostically, but it seems no matter what I can't eliminate the knock.

Hope you can figure it out!
