October 24, 2018: Built the car back up, ran her on the dyno with 10psi and hit 230 hp. Decided to get an ignition setup first before hitting 26 psi. We'll see what happens on the dyno in about two months. #NeverGiveUP
July 4, 2015: Car has been through two more owners. Never got to the dyno, and now, this month, I have finally purchased her back! This thread will get to it's goal at some point. Have to complete a full tear down and inspection first. followed closely by paint work.
I'm sure by "internal diagram" you are referring to a service manual. So what I would suggest is view the sticky posts for links to the factory service manual. You will be able to find all of the information you need regarding tolerances and specifications during your tear down and rebuild.On...
They stated that the car didn't start when they put a battery in after the car arrived. I wasn't there so I don't know what happened. I do know they left the car out in the open weather for a few days with no hood on. I'm assuming that they shorted something related to trying to start the car...
I started this thread a long time ago. Ultimately, I ended up using another brand however, if anyone recorded data from their dyno run with their OBX cam'd vehicle, would you mind posting the results? I think that would seal this thread right up for those just getting into the scene.
Just the person I was hoping would chime in. I do plan to carefully strip out the potting. I'm glad a soft polyurethane potting compound was used. It makes the board much more serviceable, and helps in situations like this for us to see down to the board as well for potential problems.In...
Back story: Purchased a 98 5spd Eclipse a month back to use as a daily driver. Everything worked flawlessly. Front end was misaligned due to a previous collision. A business acquaintance offered to help me get the frame pulled. Took off all front panels, removed battery but left ECU under the...
You need to pick up the split second AIC1-G4H with data acquisition then. It's the company that makes portfueler for HAHN. You can upload your current maps with the R4 program and never skip a beat, but with data acquisition you can overlap AFR and up to 3 other 0-5v Sources of data to really...
NOV 23, 2012: Car is back in my shop again. Rather than installing the MS, the Splict Second AIC1-G4H with data acquisition is being installed. This is essentially what they sell to HAHN as their "portfueler" but with an additional 4 aux ports for data acquisition. My AEM X-wifi will be feeding...
sorry, I don't get on here much with my new job. For anyone interested, I can't remember the name of the exhaust, but when I go to tune the car for the guy who got it from me, I'll take a look. It's from 2005 or earlier. Not sure if the company is still around. I'm sure comparable can be found...
Don't know if I'm just tired or what, but I can't seem to find my notes on the measurement of the center to center distance of the rear caliper carrier. Do any of you have this info on hand? See pic below.[img=http://s15.postimage.org/9g25n8syv/rear_face.jpg]
I bought the car the way it looks. It's in mint condition all around so I couldn't complain about a bodykit. The paint is a tri coat, so I can't exactly slap on some stock replacment items without a bit of money. So I'm just gonna enjoy it like this until I get the engine built. It's and N/A...
My problem in this thread was a leaking seal at the fuel pump. I was able to find it by using a fuel pressure tester. When my car was idling poorly, I could see fuel pressure drop very low. Start there.2nd car I drove after this ended up having a rusted fuel tank. The rust clogged not only...
although I'm still doing the work to the car, I don't own it anymore. I traded it for an RX8. I just made a deal with the new owner to continue on with my goals doing free labor and tuning, if he bought the parts. He doesn't know much about cars and wants it to remain factory operational...
Dec 2, 2011: After replacement transmission was installed, the 2nd HAHN porfueler control box failed. The internal map began reading incorrectly and fuel maps were useless. Will be installing MS in a piggy back fashion now, but may unfortunately have to wait until January/February from time...
I have two 10lb bottles, had planned on doing a 2 stage advanced setup originally. Now I'll just have a spare refill tank.@nitrouskris: I was just thinking that. Is there a way I can utilize equipment I already have to sort of, in house flow test?I was under the impression that if the gauge...
Here is a pic of my set up.. installing this week. Looking to see if anyone has used a progressive controller here instead of just the momentary switch. Starting with the lowest jets at 75hp. I feel like that might produce quite a jolt. So chime in and let me know your opinion.
as the wideband begins to fail, it lingers one way or the other. When it doesn't agree with the other two gauges, I am able to pull it, inspect it, and prepare for replacment. logging, or any type of tuning activity can be ruined by a failing wideband. I like to be extra careful.Back on...
the two narrow bands help me monitor the life of the OEM sensors. Plus, the narrow bands in tandem can also aid conversely in helping me determine the health of the wideband. When using leaded fuels, widebands can die very quickly, it seems more quickly than the OEM units. (ask the wisemen for...
Then you aren't thinking hard enough! Read the modification list from my profile. There are: oil pressure, water temp, EGT, Wideband, narrow band 1 and 2, boost gauge, volt meter, and other electronic componets: electronic boost controller, turbo timer, fuel pressure gauge, LED power indicators...
No matter how much power I wanted to create from my car, I always knew I wanted to keep A/C for summer time. I wanted to use the center of my console for gauges and other aftermarket controls, so the components had to go. Here is what I came up with, and yes its operational.<a...
If you are using the wrong size slim fan for your radiator AND you are not running the radiator from the AUTOmatic eclipse, it is possible even with all new coolant system components to still overheat. Not all slim fans are equal, they push/pull different amounts of air given blade design and...
LSD still has warranty coverage, but found the chewed up gear inside the transmission so I'm not going to mess with the Quaife, just pop it in the next trans. And about buying on craigslist, it depends on where you are. A person selling a trans for $70 from California doesn't do me much good...
I'm installing the diff in another transmission tomorrow. Should be back on the road again in just a day or two.BTW: you guys are lucky, NO ONE up here sells a trans for this car for any kind of deal. $400 and up. I buy whole cars for that sometimes lol.
We're taking the car to the dyno as soon as we get the transmission back in. So bout a week or so. We'll see what things are looking like then. (sorry for the late update)
I forgot to end this thread. I found out that the Centerforce clutch I had installed did not self center like the OEM clutch. I had removed the aluminum lightweight flywheel since the Centerforce is modular like the OEM design. At any rate, the button on the back had play where it fit inside the...
Check out the pictures below and let me know what you think has gone on here. I can't see any damage to the LSD.There are particles here on a paper towel, some look like teeth shavings, there is a small spring, a small ball bearing, and what appear to be many broken small pins. There is also...
March 22, 2011: Today is the last day I owned this car. Ended up trading it for an RX8. The good news is, I will still be doing the tuning for the new owner and will still be posting up a dyno sheet when we hit the dyno.
Finally ready for dyno and track. Should have all new info up by Next Saturday, wish me luck, its been a long time coming.<a href="http://s216.photobucket.com/albums/cc154/bmxunderground/?action=view&current=995067ee.jpg" target="_blank"><img...
Thanks, but I would love to be driving it right now! haha. I've actually got a guy trying to trade me an RX8 for it this week after I get it back together.People saw me killing races at 18psi recently and they want it for themselves. I just need it to be user friendly and trouble free when...
After talking to a few friends from local shops, people believe that it is my clutch setup that is causing the vibration.I took off the aluminum flywheel on this last build since my pressure plate was toast, and put back on the starter flex plate deal and a modular centerforce clutch. Other...
My car is for sure illegal in states with emissions laws. KY doesn't have them so we consider anything that can be driven on the road with no complications as streetable.
I really want to get my car to the track and actually just about five minutes ago I found out the Nashville track is open so I may get out there Sunday and see what my ride is looking like on the pavement instead of paper. The deal with this post was that a local was saying a platform like mine...
Sorry, neither of those are the guy. Let me be more specific. The car is dark colored possibly black, it has a drag look to it. I can see the photos in my mind but cannot put together where I saw them. I think I viewed his profile on here a little while back and he had very low stats, like a new...
I have been scouring the site for hours trying to find a trace of that 420a turbo car that was running 10's. The only thing I can remember is a picture of the car with an exhaust cutout from the from passenger side bumper. He just posted a dyno sheet or track video not too long ago and I CANNOT...
I love cars, ALL cars, and anyone looking to get into the hobby. I'm the marketing manager for a successful night club. Last night I was driven to work in a phantom. I am still not above talking to locals about plans for their civics. Thanks for all the compliments on the eclipse, we'll all see...
Sales of nitrous oxide by ALL companies experienced growth in sales after that movie. I know there are many annoying things also associated with the movie however; I encourage you to appreciate the dream that person has of one day being able to drive something truly exotic.
It is one of two. The vehicle from the pre-race scene is however housed in the Star cars museum in Gatlinburg, TN. This doppleganger was to tour with Holley a.k.a. producers of NOS (nitrous oxide systems) but arrangments never played out and the vechicle stayed in storage for the better part of...
never really showed off this car from my collection because I wanted respect as a noob when I came to this site. But here it is, me and my buddy parked for a few shots today since it was finally sunny and clear enough for us to drive. The V10 R8 is his, mine of course is the eclipse star car...
my spearco is 30x10x3 I don't think I need any different intercooler haha.<a href="http://s216.photobucket.com/albums/cc154/bmxunderground/Sliver%20Eclipse/?action=view&current=IMG_1067-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img...
I'll have more time Monday and Tuesday to both test things and take some video. I'll post my findingsfew pics to pass the time<a href="http://s216.photobucket.com/albums/cc154/bmxunderground/?action=view&current=IMG_3015.jpg" target="_blank"><img...
well I added cams, cam gears, and different valve springs and retainers. My old set up though was out of time bad so I don't have a good marker to go by.If you guys are running these cams and have nothing but smooth acceleration then I'll have to do some looking around... its killin me...
