I'm usually only cleaning it from the tailpipe and it cleans off easily with wheel cleaner and a brush. I'm also able to clean it off the o2 housing etc. with some brake cleaner or solvent like that. The wbo2 sensor gets coated just like everything else, but I'm on the same NTK production...
Honestly I've always wondered the same thing haha. And I just got back from dropping the hot parts at the machine shop and they asked the same thing. The red color starts about 2" into the exhaust manifold (none in the head) and continues on all the way back to the muffler. I only use Sheetz...
Thanks! I use ASA for most of my functional parts and everything on this project. I'm kind of new to 3d printing so we'll see how it holds up over time. I do have high temp foam/rubber trim on the ducts where they meet the cooler, so the plastic doesn't directly touch it anywhere.I use...
Time for an update I guess. Not much happened over the winter, we spent most of the time working on Brian's Miata to get it better-prepped for this season. I got the transmission back at the end of December and got that reinstalled, then started getting the transmission cooler in.Here's a...
Here's my setup I put together over the winter:TRE welded 1/2" NPT fittings on the transmission
Setrab 50-619-7612 cooler
Marco UP3 164-020-12 pump
Mocal AF8_240 filter (240 micron)
XRP -8 ProPLUS PTFE hose/fittings
Controlled by RaceCapture output based on trans temperature reading, currently...
This is for a GSX? That doesn't look like the fuse box from a 2g turbo - do you have a non-turbo harness? And where is the approximate location of that connector in the car?
I printed these parts for a transmission cooler setup I'm working on. Inlet duct, outlet duct, and filter clamps. These are printed from ASA and it was a big learning experience making parts this big from ASA and avoiding warping. The inlet duct is three pieces and the outlet duct is two...
The rear tow strap brackets are now for sale. I only made a small batch so DM me if you're interested!
https://www.dsmtuners.com/marketplace/2g-rear-tow-strap-bracket.6208/
I made a small batch of these by request and will probably not be making another batch! $185 shipped in continental US, DM for pricing elsewhere.-Designed around Racetech tow loop (not included) but any strap with a 1/2" hole should work.
-Includes all hardware.-Powdercoated satin black...
Not much of an update but my transmission has been at TRE since I got it out and Jon just got back to me with the damage report:I gave him the approval so he's going to get it all fixed up. In the meantime, I started to collect some parts and design a transmission cooler to hopefully get a...
Fuel cap holder. These are 3D printed from ASA and mount to your fuel door with double sided tape.Edit 10/18/23: this is now confirmed to fit both 1g's and 2g's!You'll notice in the pictures that I relocated the tether to the lower fuel door bolt instead of on the filler neck. This allowed...
I certainly don't agree with "extremely dangerous" but I do agree the design is a compromise of many factors and there are numerous other ways to make a stronger tow hook. Unfortunately, those would involve cutting body work, more expense, more weight, etc. etc. We haven't tested the rear...
Will do! Is this for your 2ga Talon? If so, would you mind measuring per this post?

This only replaces one of the rear bumper mounting brackets, not the entire bar. I'll add a couple of pictures showing the factory crash bar bolted to the new tow strap bracket. The driver side still uses the factory mounting bracket.
Alright, let's do it. I'm just starting with the rears for now since they're easier/cheaper to produce and I think more people will be interested in them.

I posted up about the rear tow strap bracket I made for my car and there was some interest there in other people wanting them. I'm making this ad to gather interest for a group buy to see how many people would want these...
I'll have to chat with you on the trans cooling setup. I'm having TRE add some cooling ports to mine while it's back in for a rebuild so I'll likely work on this over the winter as well.
Thanks! I might still be interested in those in the future if you're willing to part with them. Would you mind looking in the 2ga hose to see if there is a restrictor? I'm still curious about that. For the moment I have bigger fish to fry. Just found this when I drained the trans so I'm...
Thanks for the kind words! And totally understandable, family comes first of course. Palmer was sooo much fun, I'll definitely be back again. There were some folks there really talking up Lime Rock so that one made the wish list as well.
I managed (with a bunch of outside help) to get a solution in place for the leaking power steering lines on the bottom of the rack. More on that in a future post.In the process, I accidentally found out that there was a restrictor in the soft low pressure hose that attaches to the top of the...
I finally had some time this week to start digging into the problems with the car starting with the power steering leaks. I knew pretty much everything in the system has been discontined by Mitsubishi, but luckily JNZ @DSSA was able to find one MB501603 left in the US so I snagged that. That...
I'm likely in the minority, but I lost an engine due to a melted nylon wastegate line while on a road course. I'd recommend changing those out for SS braided lines. For heat protection (no matter which lines you go with), I recommend Insultherm...
I'm not sure how the 4 is, but the hardest part on the 3 was getting the camera to power on (not record) with the car. I used a little script on a GPIO on PiLink to activate the ON pin on the GoPro's connector. You have PiLink, right? It would probably be better to just get John's camera...
It's a GoPro Hero3 mounted mounted to the seat, hard-wired to 5v, and automatically triggered from the RaceCapture. I have more info on it here:

The video of my best lap is up.Video is undoubtedly a great tool for review, but boy does it stink seeing how much time I left out there :p Next time I'll do better!
Ain't that the truth! Thanks for the tips! I had to go back and look since I didn't post it last time, but I used Gates 362090/350010 hose for the rest of the system during the overhaul a couple years ago and that worked well. I'm looking into switching my hard/soft line assembly to a 2ga...
Another track day in the books and it felt good to be back! We had mostly the usual group: Camaro, GT4, Brian (but in his new SSM Miata), and a new friend with a Miata. We headed up to NY on Saturday and spent Sunday exploring the area around NYST a little. We found a nice little AirBNB cabin...
I swapped out the GS-1 pads for a fresh set of R16's on the front and the used XP10's on the rear. Our stash of ATE TYP 200 brake fluid finally ran out so I'm trying out Motul 660 fluid this time. It has much higher temp ratings than the ATE so it should be good. I read better things about...
That's the generator (alternator) relay. It wasn't included in this writeup since the 99's don't have it.2G Help, figuring out what this relay is. (Alternator Relay)
The DSM spark plug cover is slightly different than the Hyundai, so I drew one up and had a custom 3mm silver carbon fiber cover cut out. Turned out pretty good I think!Did a little tuning on the car today since I haven't touched it for a couple years. Just have some final touches to put...
I replaced my OEM 180* thermostat today with a Tama and took some comparison pictures just for the record. My OEM one was giving some erratic behavior on my last drive so I think it could be going bad. I'll report back if there's anything significant to note with the Tama after I get some...
I made up a new valve cover for the car. It's a shaved Hyundai one with two -10 ORBs, Pro-Werks oil cap, and aluminum baffles. It's nothing new, but it's amazing how much work it takes to get to this point! I went as far as I could, then shipped it off to Justin @Detective Coating to finish...
Unfortunately, we've been out of mil-spec seals for a little while now. Our source dried up and we haven't put enough effort into finding a suitable replacement so we haven't been selling rebuild kits. But some vendors do still have them or standard seals.
I need a measurement for 2ga/b Talon bumpers to see if they're the same as Eclipses. Can someone please measure from the inside of the frame rail straight down to the bottom-most part of the rear bumper there? It's a little goofy of a measurement, but you should be able to hang a small...
Not much happened with the car last year. We only had one track outing planned and it was cancelled by the organizer. I drove it on the street a little bit but that's about it. Just like my last post, I didn't change much on the car again this winter, but might as well keep this up to date...
We made a small update on the front tow hook - added wings to the sides near the tow strap bracket and then a bolt on the unused hole for each. This will keep the tow hook from rotating when pulled. Brian had his tow strap used a couple years back and it moved just a little bit, but we figured...
I use these on my Carbonetics v2 hood. I originally tried the 30 lb. version but they were too strong. They were strong enough to lift the hood on their own, but shutting the hood from the front edge felt sketchy like the hood might break. So we switched to the 20 lb. version; they're not...
Sounds good, thanks! Do you plan to keep or remove the metal sleeve pictured in the middle? I just took a look at a good anchor again and I'm not sure how easy it would be easy to remove the rubber from the sleeve if it hasn't already separated. I assume the plan is to remove the sleeve but...
