Absolutely terrible news!!
Joe was a great and valuable resource and ambassador for our community, awesome YouTuber, and seemed to be genuinely even better of a person.
Going to binge watch some of his older videos, upset we won't get to see him go further in his journey, selfishly.
But...
Agree they do have useful tips for swapping to a auto, I did the reverse swap so i have a slightly differant perspective .
This pic is basically a swap out of a gsx except for the trans cooler that now I have to dig out and clean as well good catch :thumb:
Unfortunately it's only in the cluster for a auto the manual clusters have those lights blocked off so if you wanted that you would need to swap the harness and cluster
Or just go aftermarket and get urself a gauge to make sure you don't overheat.
Trans cooler is one I forgot about
Rear mount...
That's what I did, I used a gst that was rotting away for all the small things and bought a trans transfer and rear from @jersygsx off here. Unfortunately shipping those kind of items is not a simple process. Ill shoot you a message as i do have basically an entire swap I'm listing shortly from...
Marty is definitely the expert in these over me but sorry that one I had for sale just sold. They are definitely the way to go tho if doing the swap unless your scared of wiring, but honestly could be done in a evening or less. There is a thread on all 2g dsm engine bay connectors that is...
So I just completed a manual swap in My 95 gsx. So just doing opposite of what I did.
You need the front axles along with intermediate, if u get a rear that matches your current setup(lsd vs nonlsd) you keep your current axles.
You need the passenger side mount and brackets along with rear...
Brand new Forced Four Smart 150 TCU. Never installed, preloaded software for a W4A33 Auto trans. This was optioned for no TCU in car
Includes everything to run your GSX in place of a factory TCU. Full 24 inch harness and USB cable to connect to, along with paperwork and install instructions...
Similar on a 2g mine feels much more responsive immediately. Real reason I did mine was to create space in engine bay, but don't regret it as it feels much more direct to throttle, miniscule amount, but noticeable.
Just remember replace what you can while it's out of the car like gaskets and seals, cost sucks but oem and it'll save you 30 headaches down the road...it's only like 700 between timing and basic seals but we'll worth the results!
Literally did this swap a month ago in my 95 gsx and been driving it daily since. What they say is true, really simple swap honestly and well worth the piece of mind
Well first, the 1 I suggested is not a reman it is a new unit. Also my high is 14.5, generally around 14.1 but I also replaced every wire in engine bay to do with the alt circuit, and am pushing 15 extra volts compared to stock alt so I expect mine a touch higher then stock. I also run hid's...
So out of pure curiosity last year I bought a 90 amp alt for my gsx last year as mine died. I looked at rock auto and found one by Wai global there for about 125. Turned out I had a grounding issue, burnt that one, but got a replacement through rock under warranty. Have had it in for just over a...
Been playstation my whole life for most part never had a major issue with the system ny brother was a Xbox fanatic but he gets on my playstation whenever he gets a chance to come to my house and tells me something about the controllers and graphics he just likes playstation better for. Have to...
Split crank is definitely preferable and the 99's had that special edition silver face plates and it was the 10 year anniversary. Had a 99 Barcelona red pearl one when I joined tuners in '06. Auto fwd sucks but awd auto i have much more respect for nowadays with mine. Swaps aren't that expensive...
Same here but my conflict was blown turbo seal :banghead:
Would love to see some guys actually able to get together this year
Maybe even thinking about event similar but more during boosting weather
I know it'll probably not be this but do you have iat connected or zero out the temp sensor reading? I just did mine and I knew I didn't need it but I forgot to set to zero since do not have one hooked up and car started after I changed the setting. Just making sure all bases covered
These are what the sets look like on mine u just push the middle of the black circles on my bumper and they release the full side. So instead of those rusty crappy bolts in your fender they actually are bolted to a sweet bracket off the fender that has a post that the button locks into, and let...
Hey beings you are apparently down the road for me in jersey, there is a few shops around that have reputable tuners. Are you looking to do dyno sessions or remote tuning? Definitely like the car my buddy use to run a similar setup ill txt him and see if he has an idea of who is still around.
Definitely would be nice there is a couple of us in south jersey, me being right in between camden and Atlantic city but I have no problem traveling the state if bunch of us get together i drive to paramus once a month in my 2g
Wanted to drop in an throw extremepsi extra love they are emailing me on a sunday just to update when they will get a fresh shipment of ngk wires for my 2g...on a sunday...these guys go above an beyond an i made sure to mention we at dsmtuners appreciate the hell outta them an all they do for us...
Well yours should still have the same health check up that mine has you have to look as differant models but these are no calibration needed setups and I only start car and bump the throttle a few times so it goes rich a few times then change the gauge to health monitor then the reaction...
So I have a close setup to what your currently running and I happen to have a plx -dm6 4th gen with a Bosh 4.9 sensor ...not sure if that is yours or not...but my gauge is a touch screen and I also have a built in volt meter as well as a health check and reaction time meter built in... you just...
Welcome to the family! Were all here for the love of the car. Make sure to get as much info on your car listed as it will greatly aid others trying to help with things you may be trying to figure out. use that search button as most things have been discussed but don't be afraid to ask for help...
Well found the issue turned out just to be a slice in a coupler and when I did BLT I found it after it hit .5 bar anything over that was just pouring out the hole explains why my wideband was going super rich...did pull the wideband first an replaced with stock o2 and changed nothing but the...
Ok yes I'm simulating narrowband with ECMlink not off the wideband unit itself as i can do if needed, and I do have the factory o2 sensor in my pile of parts so maybe I will try and go back to stock sensor if I cant find obvious problem with my unit. I wonder if it's time to replace my wideband...
ok so I drove my gsx yesterday, perfectly normal day boost is about 11-12 lbs on a t25. Parked the car for the night started today and did this for a log, sounded fine normal warm up got in drove down the road fine out of boost. went to go from stop sign hit boost and felt like I hit a wall...
Gonna be adding more but just started getting stuff out that I no longer have a use for to fund a 16G ... everything is in working condition and comes as is, shipping included but you pay PayPal fees...PTE 525cc low impedance Injectors plug and play and work great to max out you t25/28 with...
That very well could be it however usually even with a sensor going wonky u should still be able to crank the motor if it was to just crank and crank with no start then I'd assume a sensor but since u said lights dimmed that instantly points to a voltage problem plus the motor would still crank...
That sounds like an electric issue with those symptoms I would suggest starting with checking your battery, connections, alternator, belt etc...the fact motor stayed running after losing electrical makes me think battery as the alt is what normal supplies needed voltage to keep engine alive but...
Set of 95 2ga projectors with halos for sale in excellent condition all functioning came on my gsx but swapping to my 2gb setup so no need for these shipping / PayPal fees included!!SOLD
My gst had full apexi n1 with theyre high flow cat was decent at a idle but heard me coming down the block and setting off car alarms in parking garages my gsx has thermal r&d no cat (thank you jersey for no more inspections on 95 and older vehicals now:sneaky:) and I piss the wrx kid down the...
That would be first thing I would check just pop your head underneath the back and look for a pumpkin and rear hubs for hole where axle spindles go...also the gauge cluster if has boost gauge then it was a stock gst/gsx good luck tho an be sure to let us know if we were right at all in our...
Definitely a turbo for reasons stated above and I want to say gsx for the position of the exhaust the gsts ran straight down the driveshaft tunnel where as this one seems to be more off to the side like a gsx
yea just watch that the broken belt doesnt do what mine did an make ## timing belt skip an smake alll your valves right into the top of the pistons :ohdamn:
found it it was completly under the trans mount makin it almost impossible to see unless you get the car in the air...thanks for the assisstance everyone:thumb:
