So the shift fork 4 magnet came apart. Really common on these DCT470 transmissions. Its a magnet to allow a sensor to read the position of the 2/4 shift fork. When it falls out, the transmission goes into limp mode and wont apply clutches to even numbered gears. So I bought a replacement from...
Thanks man, that is super nice of you. I really love this community. I appreciate it beyond most things the internet brings me. To be transparent, I haven't decide how to proceed.Options floating around in my head:
1. Part it out. Get as much as I can for every part, down to the last part...
Just learned of the TMZ shop fire. Very glad Tim is okay. Sadly, my built trans with a broken 4th gear, 4 spider, KAAZ LSD, etc, along with my 300m transfer case with billet housing all got completely destroyed in the fire. This one really hurts. It took me (a poor person) years to save the...
Universal heat exchanger applied to power steering circuitTucked nicely into grillThe power steering cooler looks natural at a distance. The bumper no longer has the stock foglights installed. I used JDM EVO X RS mesh grilles and bezels to keep a factory-ish look without having the...
New longblock fired up easy and had no drama or leaks. Knock on wood. First 12 miles on the road went well, feels a bit harsher with the new control arm bushings and motor mounts. New turbo feels good, like stock.
Haha yes, it is...The trans won't grenade like a manual, because the wet clutches will slip. I know there are 900+whp sst cars with aftermarket clutches and pressure mods (no available thru software/tuning).Stock clutches are good for 500+whp if the torque is managed well. With TCU mods...
With the recent release of the SST TCU Crack, I decided to do some launches. Got some solid sub-4.2second 0-60mph pulls before giving it a bit too much boost and timing. At 5500 rpm the stock turbo can produce 18psi, and as soon as it loads up off the line, it spikes to max boost. I was...
Out with the old, in with the new mitsu longblockMotor mounts with stock bushings removedI'll take all the NVH pleaseSplines before and after "evaporust" - wowTransmission bolted to the new motor, lets go!

My 2g with 3mm spacers, 17x9 enkei wheels. I did spacers front and rear to keep track width consistent front to rear.Just leaving this here for reference
An idiot you are not. You have learned something, and you were kind enough to share the resolution here, so you are good in my book. Thanks for updating everyone. Glad you got it sorted!
I have been making my own for years. This and many others. Call me a cheap-a**, I have no other excuse. That said,Yes, it is a cold and lonely feeling for me too. hugs bro lmao!
"rolling idle" doesnt have anything to do with if the car is moving or notrolling idle refers to the way it goes up and down from 800 to 1400 repeatedlyRPM is red in this screenshotYour idle is ROLLING and that probably means you still have an intake leak... BLT?The blue line is the...
just install it to a flash drive. then you can run it from work pc without actually installing it to the company's machineAre you saying you fixed a leak before this log? or after? bc if you are getting rolling idle to 1400rpm, I am pretty sure you still had a leak in that log.
Marty, I don't have my flash drive with ecmlink on it, so I will look when I get home. Tbh, switching lean to rich might be normal behavior, I'll have to see the data and how quickly it's switching.
Good luck OP, I think we are all relieved your expectations are starting to align with reality! Get the gsx and start learning! Build your way up to custom swaps slowly
Your hybrid solution is exactly how I tackled the issue. I used 3mm spacers and took the rest off the caliper mounting tabs. I didn't like the idea of taking that much material off the mounting flange (yes, I know it works for some LOL.)
Maybe send it in for a refresh? Get the bearings replaced if needed, or perhaps do the work yourself? My first transmission made it 1000 miles before the intermediate shaft bearing failed, locked up, and trashed the entire cluster.
On one hand, it is not going to be cheap. On the other, I am extremely excited about having a TMZ-built PPG gearbox to bolt in! I can't tell you what the right move for you happens to be, but you can learn from my experiences if you think they are similar enough. :thumb:
I don't think I was making any real power when it let go, but it was a used gear set. Who knows how much time it lived above the fatigue limit before I bought the thing. You say, "my stock transmissions have lasted longer than that"? To be fair, an evo 2 transmission with a fresh rebuild is...
I am sure it would help, right? In theory, better structural support for the bearing races would help to keep things from flexing and shafts getting out of proper meshing alignment, maybe?? Less of a problem on straight cut gears as they don't inherently produce an axial load, like helical gears...
I wish I had. The rebuild on the evo 2 unit lasted about 12 pulls. Not a great roi. I also wish I had opted for the billet bearing plate the first time around. Also the input shaft was a bit twisted, so ya, it's probably a miracle I didn't completely trash the whole thing.
Got some pics from Tim of the carnage inside the case. 4th gone. Center diff took a bit of damage but will be salvageable for other projects. Going to use new cross shaft, neat gears, and ppg center diff housing in the new setup.
John,How does xometry handle IP? I typically have to get non-disclosures signed on a per project basis before quoting jobs outside. Nobody is allowed to see engineering drawings before these nda's are signed. Can I get this type of assurance working with xometry? We often prototype while the...
1g and 2g brakes are interchangeable, so what works on a 2g SHOULD work on a 1g*.your parts list is the same as mine, can you include pics bc it does indeed sound like something is "off"
