Install was easy, just need to do your homework before ordering the Radium rail and make sure you get all the necessary fittings. I like the ORB banjo to AN on the end of the rail, really gives you clearance to the timing belt cover.
Not sure your age but I always take the approach of doing what you're passionate about. I don't think it's wise to do it just for us (DSM community) specifically but if your passion is designing/fabricating performance parts for cars then absolutely. That being said, following your passion...
FIC 750cc injectors are rated at 750cc with your AFPR adjusted to 43.5psi running E0 (0% ethanol) but most pump gas 91octane is E10 which, doing the math, should put your globals at -38% theoretically... That 40% number assumed E0 gasoline. It can smell rich and idle lean if there's a vacuum...
I'm not sure how much the OP picked up from the links I posted about running the straight cut gears if you do a BSEK but, if that was missed... I've seen a few posts lately about the straight cut gears being obsolete/discontinued so, if you can't find them, running the race shaft is the...
While I'm not agreeing/disagreeing (no way am I qualified to discuss engine harmonics/dynamics) I do want to pop in and say that there's a lot being left unsaid, everything should be taken into account. @Thecarfixerguy said he's getting ready to build his engine, we don't even know what engine...
Any aftermarket rail is going to run you ~$150+ for the fittings, these are your options. If you're lucky you may find a discount code or snag one in the Classifieds that's been used. Notice that none of them use the OEM hardware so, if you get a used fuel rail, make sure you're getting the...
Joining the discussion a year late but wanted to comment. One or two cars I've tuned in the last few years it's been impossible to get the WB AFR's to marry with AFREst because of fluctuating AFR's. I don't tune nearly as many cars as Kevin, just mine and the local crowd usually but have been...
If Im being honest, I couldn't care less if it's a Tesla. EVs in general are great but I still don't think that the other manufacturers have the infustructure nationally to make road trips practical. If the fad you're referring to is the Tesla "movement", I agree and hope other manufacturers...
Over the holidays I bled the brakes, re-aligned the front suspension, then drove around the block bedding in the pads. It felt like there was still some air in the lines so before I put the car back up on jack stands to bleed the brakes again, I took the opportunity to take a photo of it next to...
I'm a straight line racer so the #2 option seems like it would be my preferred choice, the guys that actually turn the wheel may want the additional caster adjustment.Nice job getting those drawn up in SolidWorks so fast. haha
I can verify that the SPC #660306 ball joint fits into the knuckle, once I get the car aligned I'll be able to test it out on the road but so far so good.
Yea, that's super scary. Looks like you're doing great work though! Looking forward to seeing the final result.I've always wanted to do this to my car and have the mounting points studded to the chassis so I could remove it and just pull the engine/trans out from the front.
The simplest reason was that I wanted to upgrade my stock brakes to stop from 125mph+ trap speeds without increasing the cars unsprung weight. The most common off the shelf big brake kit thats affordable are the stock Evo Brembos but the rotor/caliper are ~30lbs a corner and these are 13.7lbs...
Finally finished up installing a set of JDM Galant knuckles, SPC UCAs, and a @STM tuned Wilwood brake kit. Now I just need to bleed everything and bed in the brake pads. After weighing everything I dropped 10lbs per corner of unsprung weight and, since I went to a JDM Galant knuckle, can...
Wow, you've got your work cut out for you but it's the perfect time of year to get started on something like that since it's dipping below 100 during the day.My first question is, do you know the condition of the engine, ie, compression or leak down tests? If not, before I invested all my...
While I had the fuel pump hanger out I also thought I'd clean up my 6AN return and actually put a fitting on there. I cut the flare and used a 1/4" to 6AN tube fitting adaptor. Worked perfectly, no leaks and didn't need to find a welder.
Of course!Eric, I went through every universal fitment prothane bushing catalog I could find and nothing even came close to the size of the SPC bushing. I emailed Prothane the dimensions to see if there's a suitable replacement for us that's an OE application so we'll see how they respond.
The #660306 ball joint that SPC currently manufactures is about as close to the OE #720361 ball joint that came with the SPC UCA's. The only thing that I had to swap over was the keyed camber plate, other than that they seem to be a perfect match.I'll edit this post with measurements with the...
Yea, they're pricey. That image I sent was from a machine shop called Kingpin that sells them for Honda's and they were ~$450 for a set. They also do custom work but I'm sure it would be expensive just reading into how extensive their R&D is before even making the first set...
That sucks, Eric. Maybe we can bug @99gst_racer and talk him into doing a VMC spherical bearing UCA mount for the SPC UCA's, something like this, since we can't replace the bushing.
@turbosax2 I was looking through their site for these as well and the tech support said that I should check their Builder Series parts to see if something matched. I haven't had time to mic my old ones to check dimensions but we might get lucky and find a match...Here's a link to their flyer...
Not to bump an old thread but I found myself needing a set of SPC UCA ball joints too. I contacted SPC as a hail mary and gave them the PN off of the ones that came on the UCA (720361) and they gave me a new PN that superscedes it, PN 660306. They weren't $40/ea (closer to $70) but if they're...
Finally got the senior citizen plates for my car and a whole bunch of front suspension/brake goodies to install in the next few weeks.SPC UCAs, JDM Galant knuckles, and STM Wilwood brake kit.
The extra charge for injector ports is if you're going to run an additional bank of fuel injectors (8 v 4), the stock injector ports are in the back of the head so you won't need this unless you plan on running 1000hp+.The E3 IM has a 60mm inlet (same as the 1g TB) and the RVR IM has a 52mm...
Check the connection going to the top of the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) located in the rear motor mount bracket, under the left side of the intake manifold. Here's a picture I took for reference once you get back there...If it's not the connection, there's a single 10mm bolt holding it into...
The title of your thread is a bit deceiving, it seems like you're asking if a SMIM is worth it or should you go with a evo 3 IM instead. The cost of a SMIM goes beyond just what you pay for one from a vendor, which is already usually more than a OE evo III IM. If you install a SMIM you also...
Here are the sizes:

I've been touching up my o2 housing and Tial wastegate for years with Rustoleum high heat BBQ black rattle can paint and used the same stuff on my downpipe before I wrapped it and it holds up fine. The only reason why I've ever had to touch it up is because I'll knick it with a wrench when I'm...
Haha, I was just playing. I still help with tunes when I can but there are too many setups out there that are falling apart or the owners have suspended licenses/no registration, etc. so I've only been doing remote tunes so I don't have to ride along.Congrats on the little one btw! Excited...
I see, glad to hear it's not something you had planned on road tripping back. Like Tyeler said, we have zero shop owners that tune in the Phoenix area that I would trust to tune ECMLink. Most DSMer's anymore either tune their own setup (ECMLink has very good forum support/help pages) or rely on...
If you just bought the car and are trying to get it back home (Abilene) then I don't recommend that you ask someone to WOT tune it in our summer heat right before your 800 mile drive, especially on a car you have no idea the condition of and may not be ready for a WOT tune. If the car idles and...
Thanks. Honestly, I was contemplating it too since it's a expense but I didn't realize how much more enjoyable it is to work on the DSM when the garage is setup for it. Redirecting some of the DSM funds into cabinets, lighting, and floor epoxy coating was money well spent so if you're thinking...
Yea, glad I found BF on our supporting vendors pages because I've been wanting to replace that crossmember and I was surprised at how much lighter it was too. Thanks for the compliments on the garage flooring, it only looks that way because I've been guilty of not working on my car as much as...
