Love it. It actually belongs to my Galant. I will be getting one from Sirch Labs most likely for the Mustang. https://sirhclabs.com/I had planned to run AEM standalone to control everything but I have abandoned that idea....and may just have to work with the stock ECU and associated piggybacks...
Been driving the car for about a week or so. Seals didn't fix the smoking issue so I am going to guess it's the guides in that 1 cylinder that are the problem. Been tuning it on full E85 and been making rips here and there. Will have it on the dyno to see where it's at on LOW (11psi) boost. Seen...
So....I got my daily truck running to where I want it to be. I have a couple mods I want to do this year to hopefully get it into the single digits. It's pretty crazy to think about it as it is 100% street truck. Now, I am focusing my attention on my Mustang. Unfortunately, I suspect it may...
You can spin the engine any way you want with the timing belt off as long as all the valves are closed.
You don't need to pre-prime the oil pump. Guys....what do you think happens when you leave your car sitting for weeks...months without starting? Do you pre prime the oil pump? You should...
Sorta...both.It runs. I need to address the drivetrain (rebuild manual or auto swap) and I have ZERO motivation to do so. I can drive it from A to B if I wish to, but can't really turn it up and let it eat because of the trans situation. It's fun driving and hotrodding my truck and my Mustang...
Doing some maintenance on my Mustang....valve stem seals. The one annoying thing about these is if you wanted to pull the heads, you have to remove all the cams, rockers, lifters etc. Just picture doing 2 DSM engines at once everytime lol. It's basically what it is. Also, timing these is a...
I learned about this yesterday. It was shocking and sad having known the guy for 25+ years in his endeavors with these cars we love. Boost In Peace Joe. Fly High! :( :( :(
Thanks. Not done a damn thing to this car in almost a year. It has just been sitting in my driveway. Time for an oil change though....and add some gas. It gets started up once a month or so LOL.
I know it's Feb. The cold and just being a lazy ass, I haven't finished this or even started lol. I do have everything taken apart though. Viton valve stem seals were ordered and I just need to find some idle time to get them installed. i will need to replace my O2 sensors (factory widebands)...
FIC are great. Been using these injectors for almost 25 years now. I currently have FIC 2150cc in my Galant and FIC 2150cc in my turbo Mustang....and they purr.
Any more feedback on these turbos? I am floating the idea of having a backup turbo for my car. I am one who runs turbos really hard and have been very successful with Precision units in the past 20 years. I would hate to stray and get bit...but love experimenting new stuff.
Not touched my Galant in months. Working on my Mustang (needs valvestem seals), had a tune revision completed for my truck and pulley'd down one size and had it on the dyno a couple weeks ago. Check it out here.
Should have drained the gas first IMO and put something fresh in there. Secondly, you didn't state whether you verified fuel pressure at the rail. Normally, when a fuel sock and pickup sit in gasoline for that long, everything gets corroded especially if it was not in a temperature controlled...
There is no easy way if you are bone stock. It's easiest to check on the fuel return side. If you're good at welding, you can tap the fuel rail with an 1/8NPT fitting and install a gauge or buy a fuel pressure regulator kit that you can use as a source to measure the FP.
I don't think that can be covered through a vendor especially since it's after use. You would have to go through the manufacturer. If it's just a crack, it's just so much easier and simpler to have that fixed locally.
Just want to update this. So, I have been tuning the Mustang on the stock ECU but I parked it about a couple months ago because it has some smoking going on during idle and decel so I will be doing the valve stem seals. Yes, I have been kicking myself everyday for not doing that when the heads...
When I bought my VR4 10 years ago it had a Holset HX40. Promptly blew that up and it went to a GT30r for about a year and I wasn't impressed with the lag to power ratio so it went to a 6466 that was on there for about 7 years....then ventured into the dark side now it has a Borg Warner turbo. I...
So, when I am not messing with my Galant, I am usually messing with my daily truck and it usually surprises a lot of people. Thought y'all may get a kick out of it. :D
Pretty quick. I haven't been to IFO in a long time. I hope to run next year maybe in my Mustang, Galant or both.Scratch that. I couldn't run. My turbo is too big for FIs and I am outgunned in FIP.
It should be trapping in the 120s at that boost. Verify your CAM timing is correct. Check for boost leaks (including your turbo's compressor housing.) Boost leak test it to 30psi. Fresh set of NGK plugs and wires if you don't already have. and post a 3rd gear pull log. 50-100'ish. I would richen...
I bought a minivan from there last year. Just a spur of the moment kinda thing. It was $1200....what I didn't know was that they would add like $600 worth of fees on top so i was not too excited about that. I didn't think the car was worth $1800 but it ran well for 6 months before I sold it...
What's the car doing in the 70-90 and 60-90, or better yet, get a Dragy, make sure the power is there first. I haven't looked at your tune. I don't think you should be launching with more than 5-6psi on street tires honestly. What are you revving to? It's important to rev high and bang the shift...
Yup. That's why I left my truck tuning to a professional. It runs perfect. Mustang, I want to learn and it's the main reason it will have a standalone.
Thank you. I am currently tuning it on the factory ECU as I need a proper engine wiring harness built for my AEM ECU. The Ford Copperhead ECU is no joke tuning haha. Has like 14+ spark timing tables and a whole plethora of stuff waiting for you to screw up. Makes the DSM ECU seem like a lego toy...
