I daily my 95 GSX, my brother as well daily’s his 97 talon Awd. I’ve daily driven my car for the last 5 years as well as taken it on many cross country trips with no cruise and no ac. By cross country I mean literally 20 hours plus across country. I do a lot of maintance and I mean a lot. The...
So the DSM gods have looked down on me and blessed me! I got the 6 bolt running! ARP’s completely thru the whole block. 2g piston and balanced 1g rods. I had Horsepower Farms here in Benson Utah do all the necessary engine work. Once I got her in and broke in she hauls now!!On a side note...
So it’s been a couple months since I’ve had the Dsm running. Got the old 6 bolt rebuilt and it’s strong as ever. Onto fixing this leak condition I’m still having. As I was breaking the engine in on the first 20 miles I did notice it do it once again randomly while cruising for just a couple...
Yes thanks for the help. And we got her running real good. There was a short in the Harness of the PTU once that was fixed there was no more issues! We went thru ecmlink and cleared codes and were back on the road in no time!
Im currently trying to get back home to Logan Utah. I’m currently right outside Bozeman so if any fellow dsmers in Bozeman would like to lend some input I would greatly appreciate your knowledge!!
I replaced the PTU around 15,000 miles ago. Not sure the symptoms lead to a crank or cas. It feels more like a short in the system. I’m gonna throw a log up later when I get WiFi today. Almost to Bozeman it acts up every 15-20 minutes or so then will correct itself. Really annoying.
So basically got the 97 eagle talon tsi on a little road trip. I’ve taken this car on 8+ hour trips with no problems. Sorta broke down a couple times having a weird electrical issue is what I think. Not sure tho. Basically doesn’t matter if it’s in town or cruising everything is running great...
So I did some triple and quadruple checking with my measurements on my rod journals. They varied from 1.7703 to 1.7707. I torqued my 1g rods with standard ACL aluglide rod bearings in them down to 37 ft pounds. I used the tools that were at my disposal. I used my telescoping t-bore gauges to...
So I took some measurements of the rod journals today just to triple check my work. They varied from 1.7703 to 1.7706. I also torqued my rods up to spec with the some standard size ACL aluglide bearings. I used some telescoping t bore gauges which are hit and miss if you ask me when it comes to...
Just got my crank back from the machine shop after a polish and ball removal. Mic’ed all the journals this is what I got. Stock 6 bolt crankNeed some help/suggestions if i should still use this crank. The specs are at the very lowest amount according to the service limits1. Front correlates...
So I recently have been able to spend some time getting the necessary machine work done so i can order the correct parts. I have ran into a little hiccup though. I just got my crank back from the machine shop. I am currently living Logan Utah. The machine shop i get my stuff done at is called...
Forgot to mention the head and block will get get decked. This is sorta of a budget build as I’m not in North Dakota right now. Currently in Utah going to school. I have a 7 bolt 2.4 litre that I will be dumping a lot more money into. If I can get by with just a cylinder hone and re using these...
So right as I got it running finally the dsm curse I have been under took over started again. Started to hear a very light knock around 3k. Before I spun a rod bearing I pulled the pan and found #3 rod bearing shot. Numbers 1,2,4 were also on there way out. Took part the motor found that my main...
So a little update: Start with the good news first. Replaced front o2 sensor with a denso unit. It fixed my rich idle problems and all cruising speeds are stoich now. Still having a problem with it going lean at higher cruising speeds. Will still peg lean and now sometimes, but not always it...
This is so helpful Melbowski!! It really does make sense now. I also got the chance to put my outdated and cheap elmscan to use on my way back from the gym tonight. Your theory was 100% correct. It never showed a cel until it hit the lean condition and it would throw an o2 circuit malfunction...
Yeah I would love to know more about this! I will look more into this over this weekend and give you an update! A way to log things has been on my list of things to get for a while I just have never “needed” one and now I have an excuse to get one. This really sounds like it might fix it if I...
Thanks for the reply and it’s just a stock tune. I have swapped ecu’s with a known good one and same thing happens. I checked my 02 sensor connections as well and they are all tight and connected. I have no logger or evo scan. My brother has dsm link in his 97 talon but not sure if I would be...
So while cruising I’ve been having this problem for a while now where my afr’s spike way lean like 18+ I can feel power loss and it doesn’t feel healthy obviously. It’s progressivly happening more over months. I’ll be cruising it will go lean I’ll push the clutch in and bring the car back up to...
Also got rid of the clicking noise that I thought was coming from the ecu/mfi relay. It was an emissions control solenoid acting up. Nothin wrong with ecu or mfi relay. As for the Lean condition I’ve checked fpr selonoid its withIn spec. Also check coil pack which tested in spec along with the...
Ignition timing was off 10 degree or so adjusted that. Car runs great now beside one thing. At cruising speeds randomly I’ll feel the car lose a little power and my afr’s spike lean. I mean way lean like 18+. I’ll push in the clutch and drop rpms to idle and I’ll put into back in gear and it...
Hello dsm’ers been in the dsm scene for about 5 years never needed to post with the help of that search button on this site! Me and my brother have been ripping and abusing these little power houses for some time now. Thought I would introduce myself now haha! We live in North Dakota not a lot...
