I'm not familiar with those codes but the SRS light is not under the Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Its under a separate tab in a professional scan tool. It's been years since I've had to clear mine so I can't help you navigate to where it is unfortunately. Shouldn't be too hard to find though...just...
You're not hitting 450hp on that turbo, let alone 500hp. The TD05 turbine wheel will only move so much exhaust and you're going to need a built engine (10:1 or higher CR, 272 cams, ect.) to actually generate the airflow required for 450hp with the 20g compressor, more efficient bolt-on mods...
Not sure about others on here but I try to change my oil every 3k-ish miles. Because of that, I stick with conventional oils unless there's a screaming deal on synthetics.Oil pressure looks good and since the turbo is brand new, I would just stick with your standard 5w30/10w30 weight oils...
Unless your engine was built for heavier weight oils, no you should not just decide to run 20w50. You're supposed to run higher weight oils when your clearances (rod/main bearings) are spec'd on the looser side. This is primarily done on track-only cars since the engine lives in the higher rpms...
Wanted to report back because I'm pretty sure I figured out what was causing my timing belt to violently flop around. My exhaust Fidanza cam gear looks to be out-of-round and physically wobbling as the engine rotates. I didn't take a video of this area but when the timing belt teeth and the...
Thanks for the reassurance and I do agree with you on all points, but I do wish I took a video before I readjusted the belt. There was much more vibration/flopping of the belt than shown in the video I posted. So much so that I thought if I put the timing covers on, it would physically slap it...
I'll most likely tear the timing section down sometime next week. Inspect everything, make sure my balance shafts are correctly phased, re-verify my timing tensioner is set correctly, etc.If I find the timing belt is still resonating/vibrating/flopping, whatever you wanna call it, around...
Weird. This is the first time I've seen these steps. I have Alldata and I don't remember it ever saying anything like this. Looks like I'll re-adjust the belt againI didn't make it a priority to check that but visually, it looked fine. All my marks lined up after 15 min and running the car...
Yes, but it's not so low that the space between the body of the tensioner and the tensioner arm are out of spec. The holes visually look like they line up but the grenade pin just won't pass through the last holeI initially set the timing belt tension using the grenade pin method and always...
Tension should be set between .150" and .177" and mine is just over .168". I measured with a dial caliper and used the drill bit method just to double check. A 5/32" drill bit will fit with minor play but a 11/64" drill bit will not fit.
If you actually do the grenade pin passing through all the...
Wondering if it's normal for the timing belt to resonate at certain rpms and vibrate/flop around?New timing belt was recently installed along with all new OEM tensioner, tensioner pulley, idler, and balance shaft pulley. Belt tension has been gone over multiple times and re-adjusted to...
Re-adjusted timing belt tension, tested alternator wiring (low charging volts/bad alt), raised car 1.5", and installed K&N filter.
Very pleased knowing this is now what I consider easy. Will be re-installing lower/upper timing covers once I figure out what's making my timing belt flop around a...
Hmm interesting. Is it possible you have the incorrect timing components for your N/T? Idk if any of the sprockets are interchangeable between turbo and N/T ( I assumed they were), but maybe you received parts for the wrong year DSM?If this turns out to be just a belt issue, I'll have to...
You're too focused on the torque between the cam sprockets. Use zip-ties around the 11 and 6 o'clock position for the exhaust cam to hold it in place, regardless of how difficult it seems. This effectively wraps the teeth of the belt around the gear and keeps it there. You can do the same to the...
Would like confirmation and guidance that my alternator's rectifier is bad and hopefully not my ECU.Recently picked up a P1500 code and when I went to check the voltage across the battery while the car is running, I'm reading anywhere from 13-17 volts. I immediately shut off the car and the...
I don't have FB anymore. Personally I would tackle your electrical problem first before moving on with this thread. If you have time to spare then go ahead, and line up your timing marks and snap some pics.\Yes, if you deleted your balance shafts, then you can ignore those timing marks. All...
When we say to check all the timing component's timing marks, do you know what that at least entails? How about just checking the basics like the fluids, filters, belts, boost/vacuum leak test? Another good question is how uncomfortable does it make you feel once you understand exactly what...
To me, this looks a tooth off, however it could be the angle you took the pic at. I know its tough to get a clear pic between the frame and timing components. Still, I would want to see how the cams line up as well as the oil pump/balance shaft marks...I would make another thread regarding you...
I am pretty sure you set base timing that way only with 1g DSMs. Its been awhile since I idle tuned my 2g, but I never had to use that method of holding base timing at 5*. However, i kept my FIAV and my idle timing only bounced between 5-7* for the most part, so I could be wrong. You may want to...
I second the verifying timing is in fact timed correctly. Then check belts, fluids, filters, and boost/vacuum leaks. From there you can move onto compression/leak down test to judge the overall health of the engine.
At least you're reading this through Ecmlink. Now we just need to know what conditions you're seeing 32° of timing. If it's under wot (aka high load) then you have a problem, however I highly doubt this is the case since your engine would most likely pop no matter how small your turbo is.Stock...
My experience with XTD stage 4 unsprung 6 puck clutch was pretty bad as a daily. Sure it works, but the engagement/chatter from it was not worth the money. Sprung version would have made the difference but from what I've read, they eventually bust out a spring or 2.My opinion is it is not...
Not enough information to answer this question. How are you reading your timing, and what rpm and load are you seeing 32° of timing.32° of timing is completely normal under low load/mid-high rpms and under decel for reference.
Have a set of OEM exh manifold and o2 housing heatshields from a 2g DSM. Painted matte black with 2000° paint.$55 + shipping. This includes both heatshields.
Have a 3.25" thick IC core thats perfect for stockish turbos pointing toward the stock side mount IC location. Good upgrade over the stock IC without going full blown FMIC.Dimension are 8"x8"x3.25" (stock IC is 7"x8"x2.75"). Used to run this with 2 upper IC hose from a 2g to attach to the...
Have a pair of awd driveshaft/exhaust brackets that I bought a long time ago for my own GST-X conversion but have since sold the car. Originally wanted to sell locally with the rest of my awd swap parts I planned to use but will now sell separately.
They are in very good shape and the bolts are...
OP's question: yes it's as easy as swapping rotors, calipers, brackets, and pads if you'd like to do that.By about an inch. 265mm vs 284mm or something close to that which comes out to about 10.4" vs 11.2". Also the early 95 rotors were lot thicker since theyre vented which is nice for heat...
Can't you just unplug the injectors and turn the engine over a couple times to prime it? Or pull the fuel pump fuse? Or spin the oil pump if the timing belt isnt on yet?
Have an AWD talon and FEALs so no longer need these. Were on my old GST since I bought it in 2012 but got rid of it in 2014. Put about 3k miles total in that amount of time and they have been sitting in storage ever since.Tokico Illumima adjustable (5-way adjustable) shocks lowered on Eibach...
Have a used Unorthodox Racing lightweight crank pulley that's been on the car for 3+ years now with no problems. The face looks pretty beat up but the splines for the belts are just fine. Finally going with a fluidampr pulley so don't need this anymore. 25$ shipped
Basically like using a plasti-gauge? Since there are different materials in solder used for soldering different metals, will this affect how the solder is compressed when measuring preload? I know this may not matter since it's only a couple lbs of pressure but would just like to clarify if...
Is there any preload/backlash you have to set on anything in the trans? If so, what tool do you use for setting that?Idk if there are any preloads going on in the trans but I'd imagine there would be, and that seems like the hardest thing to set/check.
So very true... :( An Evo friend of mine threw a rod through his block precisely because of this. I thought he was either ignorant or the gas station changed the e85 content earlier than normal for the seasonal change but it ended up costing him his motor. He had a very aggressive tune and never...
I have a Hyperflow IC rated for 800hp+ from an Evo 8. I think it's based off an old Garret core design so they aren't the best but its dimensions are 12" x 24" x 3.5".Since a lot of Evo guys upgrade to some crazy efficient ICs, they sell their decent setups for the cheap. Bought mine powder...
Figuring out what injectors to run on e85 is easy. Getting a base tune from that calculation is easy. The ethanol testers linksys42 linked will allow you to get an even more precise tune like he has shown since you can account for all the variables once the ethanol content is known.
I only...
If you can, get a GM flex fuel sensor so ecmlink can calculate the methanol content from where ever you get your e85 once you figure out the injector values
The only thing I'd say the 2g has over the 1g is suspension design. Even that is dependent on how you track your car but 2g at least takes autocross/road race courses which are pretty damn fun.One of the main reasons the 2g came with the t25 was for the added pep in lower rpms that apparently...
Had this ECU on my Talon when I sent my 95 ECU out to be socketed for dsmlink awhile and it's been sitting ever since. Got it from a 96 GST and no longer need this as a spare since I have another eprom unit as my back up now. Asking 55 shipped.
