That's awesome, to have experienced them when they were basically new would have been something. The 22r/e is really unassuming isn't it? looking at the power specs and then how light the chassis actually are its just a pleasent surprise. Even the mk2 supra is a riot, alot like a miata in so...
Fb is bad in a lot of ways but good in others. I know my local dsm scene has a fb page where everyone knows everyone no fake names etc etc. Lots of us used to be on tuners here but for some reason everyone went away from it so I followed to keep in contact with the others.
I still always come...
I tow with my trusty 2nd gen cummins, 3rd owner and bought it for $4500 from a farmer who I hauled grain for.
Sees over 20mpg towing consistently and 30 mpg bobtailing, blew me away. Only bad thing about having a diesel tow rig is you tend to buy more sh*t then you should! What's the...
Aaww that's a shame! Off road is where they shine the most. Mind you if it's super clean it's pretty risky, do understandable needless to say.
I only paid $700 for mine and every bump stop is bent flat from the previous owner jumping it, so I dont mind scratching mine up.
I've never even bothered checking any of mine, scraped every 1ga ive had an only 2gbs ive got have 97 build dates. I do wish I would have saved the only 89 1ga talon I ever found tho. Non hood bulge car 1.8ltr 5 speed, just for the neatness of it. She went in the crusher in 2019 in Central...
Kinda hard to beat toyota 4x4s really. Sad you had to let yours go, I learnt the other year when I bought mine just how fun they are and what I was missing.
Glad I bought a 2wd cummins and held out for a yota 4x4.
You going to buy another one at some point?
I've gotten bit by the Toyota bug lately, picked up another MK2 Supra project and my bush bashing pickup 4x4. None of my non DSM projects are super nice like a lot of your guys tho. Maybe I just like shit boxes too much, I dunno, if its sub 1k I just cant say no.Got 2 RA64 Celicas too along...
I'm really really going to miss rtmracing, I've spent all the money I could with you guys in the last few months. Just wish I'd have started stocking up on parts earlier.
Really appreciate you guys tracking down the 6 bolt timing covers for me, and the hell of a good deal on the bc coilovers for...
Hey sorry no I didn't, the guy I get to do alley glass has been runing his own glass shop since the 80s and he can't even track any down.
I picked up a 2gb talon from manitoba that has a mint windshield that I can pull if I need it.....more like when I need it really. I guess I'm lucky as every...
One thing I've learnt about project cars is the more cars you get the less gets done. I'm trying to focus on one at a time now instead of constantly spreading the money around between them and getting none done.
Glad you did listen to your wife, as the saying goes "happy wife = happy life", im...
I've bought 2 new cars. Last one was a 2016 golf GTI, awesome car that was very comfortable and a lot of fun. But with in a year I wished I'd have kept my mk6 golf TDI instead. It might have had something to do with the fact the first 5 month of GTI ownership I didn't even have the car because...
It's a direct bolt in minus axles, running one on my gst spyder currently. Axles are the same at the hub side but different at the trans side compared to the FWD/ AWD axles. You'll have to source gs spyder axles and axle seals if you don't have the axles with it already. But other then that bolt...
This is the picture my buddy sent me, one on the left is out of a 4g64 i sold him from a 96 gs spyider one on the right is out of a 2g he had laying around.
So someone swapped turbo pistons in at one point then I guess. He does have another 4g64 kicking around so I guess I'll tell him to check...
Ya project cars can start to add up quick. I'd love to add a 90's honda to the stable some year, very nice buy tho!
I picked up a $600 toyota 4x4 hilux this summer, things going to be a narly project when I finish the 4 dsm's off.
@lasershark Ya I'm noticing that with a lot of things......we had it so good price wise for years, now things look expensive. more then likely it is gouging but what can a guy do but make his own crap then?
I'm just disappointed you cant get downpipes anymore, I can't find any 1g or 2g....
I've got a buddy that 4g63 dohc head swapped a 4g64 this summer, running a 16g at 11psi. He compared a 2g turbo piston to the 4g64 piston.....and the ring lands are identical. Say's it a heck for a bit more peppy then the 4g63 actually, very notice-able difference. He's been in the dsm game...
There's only a whole video series on youtube of Jake LS RWD swapping one....... but like Brian said, unless your willing to put in the fab work, money etc......not worth it.
Really?? I've almost never had a reception problem with the old school antennas up here in Canada. The power ones are garbage ya but the fixed ones are just as reliable as the modern ones.....I even own a mk4 vw and it works lol (dub guys will know what I'm talking about)
I know 1 of the seals cross over as an axle seal from a ford/ Mazda car think I was a protégé.
Bearing is easy to get, I couldn't find 1 seal tho but with Brian posting the part numbers from ntn that helps big time.
I've come across several parts that are discountinued or highly priced at...
I accidentally sold my good ones with my red 1g. I thought guys were running the outlander sprayers. Guess I'll go to the wreckers when I'm home next and pull a few 3g sprayers and see.
What I've done in the passed is clean every bit of rust I can off components, buy a few gallons of cement etching acid (muriatic acid) and soak the parts in the acid until they're free of rust. The acid will eat metal fyi! So don't leave it in long term, new acid will eat the rust rather...
Very nice, came out well. Scrubbing with a brush is definitely the way to go. I've done the passed 4 field find dsms with Bissell carpet cleaner, carpet extractor, steamer and brushes, mine didn't come out as good as yours.
Guess when I'm south of the boarder I'll kave to keep my eye out for...
Spicer is a top quality brand. If you get life series ujoints they last a long long time and arent grease-able, that being said if you mess up installing them theyre junk as the cap seals distort to complete the seal. At lest in most of my trucks I've had that came with factory spicers like my...
I might be asking a stupid question but has anyone done a write up re-sequencing injectors?
If so should link it to the thread would be perfect. I've got a 98 harness, 95ecu with 6 bolt bottom end 7 bolt head. Got the car to run but like Justin stated in one of his posts.....not well. Breaks up...
@nismojones The car still has the gst fuel tank and rear in it. Guy before only swapped the trans, didnt even have axles in it. So the fuel pump wiring oem for gst yet.
@dustyboner K I'll check that next time I'm at the car. It's currently got the 95-96 cam sensor on it, I cut the 97-99 plug...
Been stumped on this one for a little while now, I've got a 96 eclipse gst and it's a parts swap nightmare.
It has a 97-99 engine harness, with a 1g 7 bolt, 95 ecu, and a auto awd trans.
I've fixed most of the issues I could see with the wiring but I can't seem to find why the fuel pump won't...
I can't believe I never knew 2g's came with different connectors, mind you I've only had 1 2g 96+ car and thats how I found out about them. I hate the 1g and 95 injector connectors they suck, going to the wrecks and stealing all the ones I can find now. Gotta love dsmtuners
Definitely not an easy fix but anything is "fixable". It would just take time to do it, best way to fix would be to find a clean car to rob panels off of. Drill spot welds and transfer the panels over, which is very easy to do. Seam welding panels together is where it gets a tad tricky to not...
Im glad their finally starting to be worth something, I knew they would be eventually but didnt know if it'd be in my life time. I'm finally making progress on selling off my dsm hoard. Last 2 of my shells leave this month, 95 awd talons up for sale right now. All I'm left with is 2 1gb awd...
I've kind of hit a brick wall with my spyder (believe its a 97) revival and am looking for a little bit of help or anyone that knows if there's any quirky differences from the spyder's to the regular hard tops. I've recently pulled the drive train out of a working driving 2ga awd talon and put...
Hey random question here folks, this summer I picked up a 97 eclipse gst that was imported from texas 15 years ago and sat since. I crawled under it to fix some damaged components and noticed it had what appears to be a brand new auto awd trans in it.
My question is can I run that trans like...
I know I'll be popping down states side at some point on parts runs soon as this covid f's off. Still cant cross the border unless I'm in a semi, wish I'd have found out about windshields before I hauled my last load back into Canada.
Definitely think about stocking up on windshields, dsms...
I was just at a random windshield shop, they can't even get them from aftermarket suppliers. They have a list of suppliers they buy glass from and not one of them make a dsm windshield anymore. Im guessing I'll have to do some serious digging if i cant get one through the mitsu dealership.
Ive never liked Hyundai, did an engine in a accent for a guy and honestly that was the easiest engine swap ive ever done out and back in running in 2 hours. But I still hate Hyundai, so many design flaws.
Ive started digging into vdubs and Audi's, they're another thing to just shake your head...
