The type of sensor u have is a 1g CAS. It provides both the crank and cam signal. Search how to test cas and you will come across a few threads on how to test.
If u installed the adjustable cam sensor from a 1g, seems that was the original your car had as someone may have done the swap, you will need to set base timing for that one. U may be advanced in ignition timing or retard.
U need to make sure u have a bead around the end of the pipe. Cheap enthusiasts use hair spray to hold it together, but the correct way would be to have a bead right before the clamp is. T bolt clamps preferably.
Replace your cas. Or give it a few good taps. I've found that unplugging your battery for several minutes then plug it back it will get it to start again.
From factory the Cam Angle Sensor has power, ground and the signal wire. The Crank Position Sensor also has power, ground, and signal. You need to take the wiring apart and find that sensor its own power and ground or remove that sensor altogether and install the 1g 4 pin CAS. It bolts right in...
I would say remove the engine yourself. You'll learn on the way and know its put together right if u do it. You'll get more knowledge and know how to work on your car easier. No major things u need, just an engine hoist, a jack, jackstands, and regular mechanic tools. Be sure to keep everything...
Run a compression test to see the overall health of the motor. I would say 155-160 if it was recently rebuild. Check for rust on the strut towers and fender linings. Make sure u check the timing belt or see if it's been replaced recently as well as oem timing components. Check on the afr (air...
That cam angle sensor is the original one on the 2gb dsms. The CAS your talking about is the one listed in your pic correct? That's a 3 pin CAS. It gets Power, Signal and Ground to work. The 4 pin CAS is on stock 1g cars. It provides both the crank and cam sensors. You can use the 4 pin cam...
Why dont you get the right female harness connector and connect it how it goes from factory. Your not using a 1g Cas. That's a 97 and up. They have their own power and ground. Not sure if that matters but I dont see it working with just a signal wire.
On my 97 I have 3 wires for the cam sensor and 3 wires for the crank sensor. On the cas they are black, blue with red stripe, and red. On the crank they are black, blue with a white stripe and red. I swapped in a 1g cas and followed rre's instructions on how to wire it for the 97 and up dsm. Is...
Looking into maybe letting this one go to someone who can drive and enjoy it. 106,827 original miles. Auto transmission. Recent tune up with new plugs ngk bpr6es, ngk wires, rotella t6 oil and oem filter, tuned off of ecmlink v3 on speed density. Body is straight with a few dings and minor paint...
I may post up my manifold on the classifieds but not 100% sure I want to let it go. It's a jmf twinscroll t3 manifold with dual 38mm tial mvs wastegates and dump tubes. Lmk if that's something u may like.
I second that. I too believe the 2gb talon is the best looking dsm. Very rare when u see one in person. I like the look with the side strakes on. Haven't had a chance to install them as I'm only home a weekend a month.
Some pics of my car washed up. Still need to attach the strakes. I like how it looks with the 2ga talon twisties. I don't know about the wheels though. Thoughts?
Car looks good man. If it were mine I would have painted the side mirrors and 3 piece wing black. The roof looks like the clear dried too quickly? What type of hardener did you use for the clear? A buff and polish will let that thing spark for sure.
I would say anywhere from 5000-6500. But yes if u want top dollar the right person is out there. Might take a while to sell but u have time to wait. I may also be putting my 97 eagle talon tsi awd for sale soon as I am going to be working out of state for a while. 106k original miles
How did u verify spark? U may be getting it on all cylinders but may be weak ok some. I had this happened on my talon. Spark was present on 2,3 but not as bright as 1,4. Coils were in spec. Swapped different coil packs on 2,3 for the heck of it and ran great afterwards. Mine was experiencing...
Wanted to mark this resolved. When I picked the car up it was idling fine. Revved ok at first but got worse. Not drivable as it died. Sounded like it was missing. I cleaned the cam sensor, checked the spark and it was weak on 2 and 3. Still had spark on all coils but these in particular were...
Posting this up for a buddy. 1993 Eagle Talon Tsi awd. Dark green paint in good shape. Arizona car no rust or corrosion. Was transported to Eau Claire Wisconsin last year. 135k 5 speed manual. Transmission recently resealed. Power steering and ac in good working condition. Has been garaged all...
Check your key ignition as well. Not sure on dsms but on the evos there is a known issue of a module becoming lose over time causing intermittent no cranks.
