My timing jumped when I turned my car off one time (eclipse). Prob jumped a tooth or two, but I was able to retime it and fix the issue. I believe it was a bad hydraulic tensioner. I definitely got lucky on that one. But car ran perfect after I fixed it. Running mid 12’s on small 16g . Worth...
Fix the leaks, fix the driveshaft rebuild that whole sucker it’s not to hard and you can source all the parts needed from jnz. Gets a good rim or have it fixed or take this time to upgrade. Get something that will give you more meat on the ground. Pull the trans and fix that before it’s worse...
It also depends on what your doing with the car and where your live. Like for drag racing and autox, I wouldn’t want that dinky smic. Living in Hawaii we need all the cooling help we can get.
It’s a 98 not 97 lol. If I were you I would do a full engine rebuild while we have it out. That way you start fresh. But of course you would have to buy the car off me first ;). It also depends what your goals are for the car. Drag racing or autox or both.
Hehe let u know if I part it out. It’s a auto so maybe I’ll build it for a drag car. I’m really not a auto guy but we have bracket racing at our drag strip so might be fun to build for it. :)
Well like when I was running my 16g to the max it sucked with the stock actuator wouldn’t hold in high Rpms. So I switched to a holset actuator and it would hold 20-22 psi rock solid all the way to redline. Sounds like he’s on a stock actuator and it’s probably old and can’t hold up to the...
Check your fuel pressure is right and actually going up under load. Not a dsm but I just fixed a Nissan with similar issues your having. Turned out to be a weak fuel pump. Only had 25psi at idle and went down when you rev’d engine even worse under load.
So it’s time to get back to the track haha ;). And ya I feel ya my car was in similar condition. My gvr4 had been sitting abandoned for about 9 years. Was on blown suspension and dry rot crap tires lol. Also didn’t have any brakes and used the ebrake to slow down haha. Thankful that’s all fixed...
I love the 14b turbo to be honest. I still have the stock one on my gvr4 paired with some hks 264’s. Has a great power band and spools fast. I’m tuned to 20psi and plan to go alittle more with race gas once I drag race it again. Right now I’ve been enjoying autox with it what a blast. When setup...
I'm 37 and got my first dsm in 99 so like 18 years! :) now I have a small hoard of mistu cars LOL. I love these cars still look badaxx and drive amazing. Would rather wrench/tune on a dsm any day over any new car.
I also wanna say how stoked I am with Paul volks chromoly bars. I really believe it saved my motor in the accident. It did bend but if you look at everything else around it. You can see it took the hit a lot better than anything else around it. ;) I'll get some more pics when I remove it all the...
So with the gvr4 down right now. I decided to use the engine in my gst :). So far I got it out and just need to switch a few things like flywheel and trans and put on either my fp 68hta turbo or my hx35. Still havnt decides cuz both would be really fun haha
Pump gas is your limit and probably causing the knock and timing pull. Only way to eliminate is to turn timing down and or boost. And I believe the 2g knock sensor is different and won't work right. I think it works off different a frequency.
Check the feed and return lines for turbo and oil cooler. Those like to go bad. Also check the oil gauge sensor could be leaking out the sensor. Maybe pull off a ic pipe and make sure it's not full of oil. I would think if it's loosing that much oil thru the exhaust you would see it.
Ya you can turn off the front and rear o2 I don't run one in my gst. I'm also using a wideband in my front and use narrowband sim. Op are you using narrowband sim in ecmlink or on your wideband controller? Sounds like you don't have all the correct tabs and settings checked In link...
The shell is complete just not all back together yet. It will be put back together before shipping. And I may have it shipped to my dads in Chicago first so he can help me get nice seats and maybe a carbon fiber hood in it before shipping. I have sourced all the parts needed to fix mine. But...
Still working out my gvr4 options. I got some pics of the shell today I can get. With all the repairs I'll need to do the my gvr4 the shell is looking like a better idea. What do you guys think? If I get the shell I'll be doing some very tasteful mods along the way as I build it. Will be what I...
He's saying why does it matter what they know or think they know. Sell them the parts and move on lol. And also yes there are a few controllers beings made for dsm on use outside of a Cummings ;)
The rules are only 25' from a curb or solid object. Going fast enough and a car sliding can make 25' seem like nothing. You all should see what we have to run on here on kauai lol. And it's the biggest parking lot on island haha. Atleast it's fixable and your ok bro. But what a bummer man ;(
Post a vid of the noise. Shouldn't be any noise like what you are saying. What kind of parts did you use? Did you properly torque and lock tight the bolts? Did you properly bleed and adjust the clutch?
Definetly depends on the pipe routing. I would look into a water to air setup. This would get you all the cooking you need. I'm doing one on my next build for my eclipse ;)
Do a water to air ic setup. I wouldn't even bother with a side mount to small and heat soak easy. I doubt you will find a Supra one in good enough condition now a days. Either a fmic setup or water to air. Plenty guys use a fmic and have ac it's all about flow and having good fans and good ducting.
Well I'm still awaiting the insurance company to see what's going to happen. I have a few options and not sure what to do. I can find the parts and try to fix my gvr4 or get a shell from a good friend for $1200 and have to ship it over. It will all depend on the insurance company. Also all the...
Well good news maybe. The insurance company is taking responsibility for the accident and says they will fix my car. Will have to take to a company and let them access the damage. Hoping they come thru and will fix it. I'm sure it will take awhile so I'm hoping to pull the engine and trans and...
I'm saying if it's shaking that bad to loosen flywheel bolts something is majorly off. Check your motor mounts and bushings around the subframe. I can't say what it is. I would get on fixing it sounds like it's doing some damage. Did someone do work on the engine? Check the harmonic balancer...
You sure the firing order is right? And if it's shaking that bad to vibrate the clutch bolts loose. There has to be some major issue going on either ignition or fuel, related. Any cell on? Could be a bad o2 sensor.
Tire pressure I would go down alittle maybe 23-28, or just keep them all at 32. Having them alittle bit under pressure helps abit for sure on street tires. And ya our drag strip is sea-level actually you can walk to the beach from the strip lol. I would stay around 20-22 and get that timing up...
Really sad day for me and the gvr4 today my friends. You all don't even know how bummed I am over this. Was driving the gvr4 to go to town and coming down a road to the main highway. It was wet out but not raining and the intersection is super sketchy already. Doesn't help there's 6' tall...
It's not all about upping the boost. Your better off with lower boost and more timing and getting those dialed in. I ran a 13.7 with my gvr4 almost stock at 17psi with a Home Depot racing mbc lol, also on crappy dryrot tires and blown suspension oh and no brakes LOL. But I also launched/eased...
How to not be a ricer or make there car hella flush! hahaha ;) also just cuz you see some idiot do something online/YouTube doesn't mean it's right, that you can do or should do it LOL. Pay attention and always use torque specs. And even thou impacts are great they arnt always needed or should...
