    Gear Cluster Assembly/Disassembly, Required Tools?

Hey guys, I'd really like to do my own transmission rebuild (for the learning experience and the challenge) but there are some things that are not exactly clear from the FSM. I realize the FSM lists "special tools" but I'm wondering if there are any alternatives. So my questions are:Which...

    Help With Part ID

Hey all, I recently picked up a 95 talon and I'm trying to get her into a good running state. I took her in for an alignment and the tech informed me that the passenger-side rear control arm is bent which would make that corner hard to align properly.Anyway, I need to pick up a new one. Does...

Tow Truck Driver Loaded Car Up In Gear

Hey guys, I just bought another dsm, but when the tow truck driver was loading it up on the flat bed, he mistakenly thought it was in neutral. The car was loaded up backwards and it looked like it was in second or fourth gear. He only pulled it about two or three feet before realizing what was...

    Preload/End Play Questions

Hey guys, I'm planning to do an awd conversion but wanted to beef up the trans internals while it's out. This will be my first time digging in to a transmission so I want to make sure I understand everything before I start. My main concern is with the preload and end play:From my...

    Drag Wheels Hitting Caliper

Hey guys, need some advise on this. Basically, my drag wheels (aero 15x10 w/5in backspace) are hitting the brake calipers:I don't think grinding down the caliper will solve the problem so I need some more ideas on what options I have. I thought of threading some nuts on to bring the...

    524.5whp Stock 7Bolt Bottom End

Finally hit the dyno last night:7blade hx40 @ 29psi and e85 :hellyeah:The owner of the shop was cool enough to rent the dyno out to me (that's me at the wheel). It's a Dynomite dyno and he warned me prior to using it that it reads on the low side, closer to a mustang. Either way I was...

    Trans Leak, Noise While Driving

Hey guys, so today I was accelerating from a stop light and I felt a jolt and then a weird noise. The noise only happens while driving, idle and stopped it's quiet. Everything seems fine, shifting smooth, no grinding, oil pressure is good.I limp the car home, jack it up and notice a shit ton...

Broke tensioner arm bolt, can't extract...

Alright so, me being the dumbass that I am, ended up breaking off the bolt that keeps the tensioner arm in place. I removed the front motor mount and dropped the engine a bit in order to take the bolt out with an extractor...then the extractor broke OMGIs there a way to remove just the pin...

    Timing Belt Broke Today :(

Well, it finally happened...belt snapped right in half while cruising. Here's a little back story on it. A week ago the crank sensor died on me while driving, so I threw in a 1g cas and it worked great...until now. From what I can tell, I think a chunk of the old sensor took out the bs belt...

    AN fitting too big

So I ordered a -4an feed line, a -10an return line, along with some fittings. My problem is the red cap for the -4an fitting seems too big for the ss hose. The main nipple that pushes into the hose looks good though. Should I crimp the red cap down or leave it loose or what?No issues at all...

    Possible to race at Pomona?

Anyone know if it's possible to drag race 1/4th at pomona? I'm currently limited to 1/8th in irwindale and pomona is the closest 1/4 to me (in orange county). If not, I guess I can rent a uhaul trailer and tow it to fontana (i guess they allowed street cars to race), but it looks like they are...

    ECMlink Tuning With ECMLink v3

Recently, a member on the ECMLink forums requested some help with tuning and I decided to lend him a hand. Before long, I found myself writing a full blown guide that I thought would be a valuable and essential asset to the dsmtuners community. This article describes the methods I, and many...

    Innovate LC-1 Wideband Installation

This guide will show you the process of installing an Innovate LC-1 wideband o2 sensor. I installed mine in the front o2 location, effectively replacing the factory narrowband sensor. Here are my thoughts on the front o2 location:Many people feel that the front o2 is too close to the engine...
