That’s unfortunate that he had to buy a horrible example of these cars from an owner who just tossed things in there without truly knowing the platform. The person who built it just tossed an upgraded motor in there with a 35r and sold it as a built car, can’t believe he paid 6,500 for that...
That oem banjo bolt on top of the fuel filter is the largest restrictor in your fuel setup. If you simply swap that out for the -6an feed line, your system would benefit from it.
I’ve recently installed the Ballenger AFR500 with the calibration grade sensor. The wideband seems to be very responsive and accurate when tuning WOT. The only weird thing I’ve run in to is the car likes to idle in the low 14 AFR area.I have recalibrated the NTK calibration sensor twice to...
Yea that was my thought as well but figured I would check to see if anyone had something similar. Looks like this winter I will send them out, don’t want to take the car down during the summer haha
Well here’s the scoop, I’ve always had a weird issue with the IAC not initially going below 68. If the car sits in a high idle range and the IAC is reading 68, it will begin to go lower but st a rate of 1 every few minutes of idling. It makes controlling the idle more difficult when the IAC only...
Selling my Innovate MTX-L Wideband o2 setup with a new Bosch 4.2 sensor.I installed a new wideband setup as I thought this one was reading wrong. I installed the new setup and looks like this setup was right all along, not going to tear everything back out to put this one back in.$140
This sensor is new as of yesterday and I do know they can be bad out of the box. It seems to be logging fine at idle but the WOT issues where is essentially showing low 10 AFR even when pulling all that fuel out is concerning to me (dropped the SD cell from high 90s to low 90s and it’s not...
Well I want to look at a better option because while tuning today I ran in to an interesting scenarios, buckle up!I’ve been having issues where my gauge/log would show the Innovate WB flashing 22.4 but going back to ~12.0 AFR a millisecond later during a pull but the car pulled hard. I bought...
I’m done with praying my old innovate MTX-L is reading accurately so I’m looking in to new widebands. I’ve seen a few OGs mentioning the Ballenger Motorsports WB but not much else on them.https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/2337I would be looking at the NTK...
Hoosier Quick Time Pro D.O.T. tires (26x9.5-16LT) mounted on 5x114.3 rims. The setup will come with Mitsubishi oem lug nuts.I bought the setup and used them for 6 passes (one event). I dialed the car back so I no longer need a race setup. The tires are $300 each brand new.Basically throwing...
I liked the idea of the silicone gasket in case I ever have to pop the pan off but done with the headache. I will give the sealant another try before I weld this dang pan to the block. Is ultra grey the go to here? I've used "The Right Stuff" before which leaked on me.
MHI Small 16g TD05 (49178-05200) with stock DSM exhaust manifold and o2 housing with o2 sensor. The turbo has little to no shaft play at all.PM me with any questions.
Virgin 7 bolt short-block pit of a 95 GSX. All cylinders compression tested 150-155 cold. I did not try to start the car as I picked it up for the driveline parts.Let me know if you have any questions.
Does anyone know who was offering the service to weld on a thicker flange to the stock oil pan?I’ve been battling for years on keeping the pan from leaking and come to the point where I am willing to cave and buy the moroso pan. Not too long ago I came across someone welding on a thicker...
I ran a set of the 10mm thunderbolt wires for a short time and found my car was having random misfire issues. I swapped them for the NGK wires and it went away. Something to try if you have a regular set laying around.
Interesting, my buddy just degrees his cams which fixed his varying idle issue along with the low vacuum. After he did his car with the engine in, I am debating degreeing my 280s to see if I can get a little more vacuum (-6inhg) along with starting a little easier. His car now starts right away...
I’ve read that as well but mine was dropping pressure at 80psi and caused me to go very lean. I drilled out 535 where the relief valve should be and verified it is indeed there, I was able to push the spring down so it’s similar to the other walbros. Will let you guys know how it handles when I...
Seems like I’m talking to myself in here but that’s ok haha I did the relief valve mod and tested my fuel pressure up to 90+psi so hopefully that holds. I also ordered a KB boost-a-pump to really see how far the 535 will go!
Well rather than changing a lot of my feed setup to get -12AN to the inlet of the MagnaFuel 625, I decided to modify the relief valve on the walbro 535 and ordered a KB boost a pump.
I got everything wrapped up and the MagnaFuel 625 makes pulsating noises when the 535 is pushing fuel through it so I am at a cross roads of whether or not I keep the 625. The options seem to come down to adding a surge tank for the 625 and ditch the 535 for a smaller lift pump or punching the...
I installed a 625 MagnaFuel in-line pump along with my 535 walbro in-tank pump. The in-line 625 is activated by a Hobbs switch which activates around the 10-15psi range so it is off when the walbro is priming and running under 10psi. My feed line is -8an to the rail and -6an return. When my...
Just wrapping up the install of a new 295 in-tank with a MagnaFuel 625 wired to a hobbs switch so I will let you guys know how it does, hoping to wrap everything up before the weather turns to snow.
Thanks a ton man! I am just going to toss a new 525 in-tank and 525 in-line along a better FPR (currently have a 10 year old compact Aeromotive) and see how it does!
Wow awesome response! I am going to have to do a test like that to figure out what’s going on. I am also on -8an feed line now, must have forgotten to update that.Debating buying a new 525 and feeding a in-line Aeromotive A1000 on a hobb switch to trip a relay to activate at like 15 psi. You...
Old thread but we built up the “535” so I figured I would post here since it’s directly related to the pump.Had a race weekend recently and was going down the track when it went lean and I got out. Added fuel in the back end and went another run but wouldn’t get into boost. Took a look and it...
Transmission solenoids went out and have a race this weekend. The trans is for a 97 AWD transmission. Looking to buy a set of solenoids or work something out. PLEASE HELP A GUY OUT!Willing to pay for overnight shipping, let me know!
It was pre-Covid so I believe the prices have gone up and I had my transmission done along with a spare head so I don’t remember the exact price but I believe the each head was in the $900-$1,000 range with the o-rings installed.
Is there a reason you want to run the 5 bar over the 4 bar? Are you over 42psi of boost? If not, would be far easier to just grab a 4 bar and use the drop down in Link to set it up. Once that’s done, do what is recommended above and change the tune to get the car to lean out. There have been...
For whatever it’s worth, Darren Thomas Racing (DTR) built both of my heads and run similar to what you’re looking for with the Kelford 280s. I even had him o-ring the head and it runs great at 40psi.
You can’t run the 5 bar with the 4 bar selected, the voltages will be off for the sensor to read correctly. Just buy a replacement 4 bar if that’s what you were running before. If you plan to run the 5, I believe you can manual enter in the voltages for that sensor to make it read but I am not...
I always see people say to shy away from a modded car. Me personally, I would prefer a modded car that was documented or at least checked out when you go look at it. If your goal is to mod the car, nothing wrong with getting a head start on the build with a car that is modded the way you want or...
So what did you boost leak test it to? Smoke machines are cool but you still have to pressurize the system to know if it’s leaking. Since you’re on the stock MAF, a boost leak can make a big difference.Do a boost leak test to your target boost and fix any leaks, we can go from there.
I have to agree that the DSM seems still attract a lot of attention or even more since it’s getting more rare to see a clean one!I took my car over to a friends last week and a car came flying up to me on the freeway. It got next to me and the rear window rolled down and the kid(13ish) in the...
