    KYB Agx help

I think you might have the same issue I'm having, but reversed. I bet you have the AWD struts. The I.D. is much larger on the AWD vs FWD based on you saying GST in the post above. I was sent the small I.D. hole FWD struts and cannot install on my AWD. See the picture I am attaching. Hope this helps.

Fastest HX40 cars, Where you at?

That .017" sounds about right so I believe your memory serves you well. Let me know if you measure differently when you tear it down soon. Thanks again

Fastest HX40 cars, Where you at?

Hey TurboGlenn,If you don't mind me asking, what is the standard blade to turbine housing clearance on the Holsets? If I remember correctly, both my HY35 and HE351CW had .02" per side, is that correct? But that might have been the compressor side, I don't remember measuring the turbine side...

    Awd Project

Hi There! I didn't know you were a brother! Sometimes I check out tuners if I have a minute during my lunch break and I saw your recent post on those nice wheels and then I saw your signature picture and I was like wait a minute... that background looks familiar. I am a witness too. I remember...

Nice purchase Code4. I got a Syncrowave 200 a while back and really like it but, wish there was a few more controls. There are a ton of settings on that Dynasty! Have fun with it.

I AM, Can't wait! Haven't taken my DSM to the track for 4 years and now the project is mostly finished and ready to go!

    1G ets race fmic install

You can see I just bent the ends slightly to bolt up flush. Thanks man. This was actually just a temporary bar, I just used a cheap Harbor Freight bender so its slightly kinked, but it works for now. I finally finished this several year project/build and enjoying it more than expected so I...

    1G ets race fmic install

I used the 2 straps provided and through bolted both ends. One end to the tabs on top of the core and the other to the core support where there were already holes.

ECMlink Help with *LOG* 1gb dsmlink v3

Yes this is good advice. Ditch the translator and use V3. I would think you would eventually over run the evo8 maf so I would stick with the gm maf. I've heard of people running ridiculous power through them with accuracy.Does anyone know if his airflow is correct? 40lbs/min on only 15 psi on...

ECMlink Help with *LOG* 1gb dsmlink v3

Ya I had the same issues with my Autometer wideband, I canned it and bought a Innovate and logged it into the front o2 wiring and now its good. Log it then mess with your fuel. You go into ECU Direct Access then in the OpenLoopMaxOct map is where you will want to make changes. Once you log the...

TalonDave & The Next Generation of Holset.

So, do you know the gap dimension between compressor wheels and covers on Holsets?
  14. Prib9671

TalonDave & The Next Generation of Holset.

I didn't know the covers were the same in all other respects, except the wheel dimensions and geometry of course. I knew there would still need to be machine work done to either cover to fit that new compressor wheel obviously because its bigger.
  15. Prib9671

TalonDave & The Next Generation of Holset.

So, Justin, you used a HX35 chra and compressor housing and BEP exhaust housing and then machined both the compressor and exhaust housings? Why not start with the HX40 compressor housing? When I bought my first Holset it was an H1E and had that same odd turbine and was bummed to find out it...

In need of a t4 housing for an hx40

Hey man I got a 22cm T4 from a H1E. Not sure how much, if any, difference from the 23 but if interested you can have it cheap. Just sitting in my garage collecting dust.

    1Gb AWD Auto build

HY35 :D! They have a small 9cm open T3 exhaust housing from the factory and I welded the flapper shut then welded in a "wall" to block off the open area for the internal gate to help the exhaust flow out as smooth as possible. I also made a pretty close to equal length manifold so hopefully I...

    1Gb AWD Auto build

Hopefully between 500 & 600 awhp reliably with full spool of 30+psi by 3500-4000 rpms! And be able to drive it to the track and back home. I feel this is a pretty realistic goal. Unfortunately we don't have e85 too close to me so I will most likely buy it by the 55 gallon drum and just not...

This was my first car! I was young and had no knowledge of vehicles and no real interest in modifying them back then. My brother-in-law kindly showed me the ropes of turbos and the potential therein. From there of course I've now become a full on mechanic as many of you know these DSM's will...

Valve cover guru's help needed inside

Thanks for your input, I'm just gonna run it how it is. I've had valve covers done with wrinkle like this before and it seems to be very durable so you can press pretty hard when scrubing it but surprisingly doesn't hold in that much dirt. Its super cheap and easy to use too!

Valve cover guru's help needed inside

Ya I understand what you you're saying, that makes sense that pressure will be even throughout and escape. It looks like there are 3 openings leading into the front baffling and only 1 opening for the back (PCV) but it looks like there are little shrouds that protrude downward over particular...

Valve cover guru's help needed inside

I just got done welding up -10an fittings on my valve cover and I was cleaning it out and noticed something was wrong. Nice man, tear it up:hellyeah:! Post up the results afterward. I can't wait to get my car running again it's been too long! Especially stoked to see results with my new Holset setups. I got an HY35 that I want to run first before the HX40. Now I got to make two downpipes though, oh well more...

It is easy to understand once you start piecing it together. Not only is it satisifying building your own manifold you can build it for about $200 so you save $600+ depending who you buy from. If you're debating building one, I say go for it.
  26. Prib9671

    Your most recent welding pics

I figured I was doing it a little too hot at first. Nothing is contaminated and I fully purged the whole manifold so no sugaring at all, so I don't know what you are refering to when you say "hope it lasts"...Also I had to buy a Micro Torch for getting around the last runner because I did...

Do people tack weld the converter bolts w/kiggly flexpate?

Don't know if I should ask this here but I've got about 15 miles on my new setup which includes the kiggly flexplate but I just reused my oem bolts with red loctite torqued to 50ft lbs. I was going to retorque them since I am past the first "heat cycle". Can I torque them to 100ft lbs now (I'm...

Ok, I will switch over to 1/16th next time I mess around with the welder and spend some time with it. How many amps can you push through the 1/16th tungsten before its too much? Like 125-150ish? Thanks

    The Official Welding Thread

Would 1/16" tungstens with 1/16" filler rod work for doing say 18 through 10 gauge stainless for exhaust components. I have only used 3/32" consumables so far because thats what my setup came with plus I was doing some thicker stuff to practice with. I want to go thinner and need...

Where does your timing belt ride?

RESOLVED: Got the car running and the belt location is fine now. I guess it hadn't rotated enough to seat itself after I initially set the tension and rotated it by hand. Glad it wasn't faulty cams! :thumb:

WOW Ok, I assumed the whole electronic system on any car would be much more sensitive than that, considering you will be grounded on the frame/unibody. How much have you welded on your car with everything installed, minus the battery hooked up? Sorry I'm just really nervous about this the first...

    The Official Welding Thread

Quick question for you experienced welders. I need to weld on my car, do I need to disconnect all my sensors, ecu and tcu from my harness before I weld a radiator bracket on my core support? Or is there more or less needed in order to not ruin anything? Thanks in advance. :thumb:

Where does your timing belt ride?

I'm just going to run it like that. If it does anything weird once its running I will just tear them out and cut them down then. Thanks for all the help guys. I will report back hopefully soon, good or bad.
  42. Prib9671

Where does your timing belt ride?

Thanks for the response. That's good to know someone else has done this. As long as I get them sitting flat in the machine it will be easy. There should be no ill effects concerning perpendicularity and therefore they won't "wobble" once reinstalled. Did you use a mill or what?
  43. Prib9671

Where does your timing belt ride?

Can you tell me for sure if they overhung say like .01"-.02" like mine does. I work at a machine shop and I'm thinking I might just cut like .05" off both cams and call it a day.
  44. Prib9671

Where does your timing belt ride?

They are used but barely, I bought the complete head with cams from him a friend who says when installed on his car it might have been slightly off center but not like this. The cam lobes do not ride centered on the rocker rollers on the lobes starting from the tranny side. It does become...

Where does your timing belt ride?

I will take a picture aiming down the intake cam gear and showing the idler pulley after work.I will also measure between the cam lobes and caps to see if it is slid out a little for some reason.I went to go measure between the lobes and caps and look what I found. Can anyone please...
  46. Prib9671

Where does your timing belt ride?

They are definately 6 bolt components. Like I said earlier, It's just weird that the belt is centered on all the other sprockets and pulleys except the 2 cam gears. I'm really starting to think the cams are that 1/16" too long.
  47. Prib9671

Where does your timing belt ride?

Are your cams and/or cam gears stock? My cam gears are. My cams are not.I bought this head from a friend who had it rebuilt by a very legit local shop. They are very familiar with dsms and they installed these stock gears to these aftermarket cams and installed the caps. They would have...
  48. Prib9671

Where does your timing belt ride?

The cam caps. Specifically the ones closest to the timing side. They have a channel or groove the cam rides in.
  49. Prib9671

Where does your timing belt ride?

No the plate is perfectly fine. The belt is centered on on every other sprocket and pulley just not the cam gears. So I redid the timing several times and even flipped the belt around and did it a couple more times. It just keeps settling a hair over the cam gears on the one side. I'm out...
