Pulling the front driveshafts out of a stock DSM AWD transmission is just going to destroy your transmission... I don't know where you got that idea from, but it is a terrible one...

I vote check crankshaft endplay. I know that noone wants to hear this, but this happened to my car exactly as you described it. Turned out that I had a lot of endplay in the crank. Just check it to put your mind at ease.

Ive never seen these studs for sale anywhere... but every motor that made over 1000AWHP that I have seen in person has used the stock bolts and been fine. IMHO if its good enough for them its good enough for me.

definitely look at your trans fluid level and condition. When was the last time the transmission was flushed? Take a picture of the fluid that is on the dipstick so we can have a look. if it is a dark brown or chunky, you are having a bad day my friend. metal on metal sounds are never a good...
