if you still need to replace the hatch board that goes under the carpet go to home depot and get a piece of this stuff, lay your carpet on it and trace it, then cut it out with a jigsaw.

for removing any and all gaskets get a right angle die grinder and a roloc attachment and some of these roloc bristle disks. you will wonder why you ever soaked and scraped a gasket in your life after spending 10 minutes for what was a 1 hour job.
