96 eclipse fuel pump no power, checked the continuity of wire around from pump to a driver side. Read the relay is located passenger side inside the console. As this is a restoration for me, the entire dashboard is out as it’s being restored, since it’s off I searched and searched for the relays came to conclusion previous owner ripped them out.

Long story short, needing to know how to take the fuel pump harness wires ( 2 wires, assuming 1 pos and one neg) and directly rerouting power for it in the fuse Box that has power only when ignition acc is turned on.

Any help? I prefer direct contact if possible maybe Facebook or Snapchat. Can also follow on my restoration project and process

Just do a fuel pump rewire that we all do because of skimpy little fuel pump (and everything else) wires.................Easy!!!
Thanks @gofer for the article to make it easy on others.

Guess I’m a idiot because as self explanatory that is to y’all it’s confusing to me. I only have 2 wires coming off my fuel pump. ( black with blue strip with silver dots, and one straight black)

I’m not sure how the key in ignition work turn on and off the pump if it’s straight to battery. That’s a consent power going to pump.

If the diagram is 1st grade language can we like go to. Pre k for me LOL

Hows this? The square box is a normal 30 amp 12 volt relay you can get at any auto parts store. Run your battery wire from the battery to the pump and then install the relay back there per the diagram. This will fire up the pump any time you turn the key on.
If you need more, just ask. Use 10 guage wire or heavier for the battery to relay wire and for the pump ground.
Click on the picture to make it bigger.

Is it safe to say fuel pump does not work, took the two wires coming off fuel pump harness connected the straight to battery. Did not hear a wine or buzz since it’s straight to battery does fuel pump not work? Or am I missing something

Its gotta be there somewhere. All years of 420a cars have the fuel pump and ASD relays on the firewall

I found it guys the old owner shoved it towards the bottom of the engine bay. Got a mounting bracket and worked. Ended up changing fuel pump and fuel tank as well. Due to insane amount of rust.

Now next question. I drove it after repairs were done for about 2 miles, came home and sat in drive way in idol for about 30 mins, car just shut off, no shutter just as if someone turned key to off position couple trouble shoot errors came to conclusion the fuel rail has NO pressure the valve doesn’t leak any fuel whatsoever ever.

Tips?

Attached the rusted fuel pump and tank

Did you check to see if it's a clogged fuel filter? With how bad that old pump is I wouldn't be surprised if the filter is all gummed up too..

I haven’t checked filter I plan on putting new one in tokorrow, but wanted to just change out the rest of everything that could go bad

I would pop the filter off and see if you have fuel flowing out the other end when the key is on. If you have pressure before the filter, but not after, you found your problem.
So is there no fuel pressure regulator?

I just wanna know I guess if the filter isn’t the problem ( I have a 99% certainty it needs to be changed) what would be another issue I need to step to down the fuel lines to rail to injectors.

Sorry to sound like a broken record but the fuel pressure regular (FPR)

The regulator is on the end of the fuel rail just before the return line. If you have no pressure before the rail it's either a dead pump, or a clogged filter.

i can't remember when the FPR switched from the fuel rail to back by the fuel tank. so if you can't find our FPR on the fuel rail, look under the passenger side of the of the car, just in front of the rear wheel.

Thank you, I got side track today so I’ll be doing it tomorrow will update

Found regulator under car directly inline with fuel filter it’s DEFINITELY hard to reach spot even when fuel filter is off, I’m not sure how to remove it such a tight spot and can’t really tell which size the bolt is. You do however need a wrench to remove the bolt. Sockets will NOT WORK. Picture attached

Did you actually replace the fuel filter yet? Have you put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail?

Have you verified your replacement fuel pump is still working? Could there be a wiring issue there? Barring any problems with the fuel lines, you're right to think the FPR is the only remaining piece to the puzzle, but I think it's the least likely culprit. Even if it were stuck wide open, I imagine there'd still be pressure at the fuel rail. If it were stuck closed, you'd have higher pressure at the rail.

I’m at the point with the clispe that anything goes out I’ll just replace everything with that particular part LOL it sat for 6 years in the grass so rust was in the old tank not sure if it still shows pictures of that on this thread
