I've did some research and found that a stock GSX top speed is 150 mph but by increasing HP would the stock gear ratio of 5th gear be able to go faster than 150mph? The only reason I ask is because I plan on building my car to run in some of the 1/2 mile events that have become so popular in the more recent years. I didn't know if I would have the trans modified when I send it off again to refresh/strength from the past build to strengthen the internals

Given stock gear specs and an 8k rpm redline, theoretical tops speed at that rpm and stock gear ratio comes out to 254 mph. Given enough power, traction, aero, handling and Jo parts breakage, you should be able to reach around 190+ in that given time, or more.

@LandSpeed-DSM is well more versed than I in this subject I'm sure.

From what I remember Reichen saying... It takes around 700 hp to go 200 in a standing mile in a dsm. A little more never hurt.

Much appreciated for the reply and where to find more info. I've raced some 1/8th and l/4 mile drag racing but I was constantly upgrading axles and everything imaginable racing in that format Roll racing and 1/2 mile and Mile top speed events with lnss concern of breaking the sale third

The Gst from what I remember has a higher gearing, you might look at those transmission parts also.
Just the final drive is higher. As far as actual gear set the AWD is higher, and the evo is higher than that

Pick your poison. In 1/2 mile you won’t break axles you’ll strip gears and pop motors.

I figure get EVO 5th when I find someone that still builds these transmissions. Even a used one from trust worthy member. I've got to find a Ec M link ECU or drop 2k on AEM or similar standalone. Cars undrivable utilizing my latest mods safely and to full potential. DSM Dang So Much$$
