So my gauge lights have been out for a while and I am getting tired of it. The lights on the sides work like door open and check engine. But the ones that stay on and light up the speedo and gas gauge do not. The day they went out I heard a pop so I thought fuse but none of the fuses under the hood are bad. Could it be the dimmer switch?? The circuit board behind the fuses looks okay to me also.

I have 98 eclipse was putting new CD player in used walmart wire harness I hooked up both orange wires up to my CD dimmer wire. Now I have now instrument backlights or hvac backlights and switch ring light. Can't find no blown fuses. Any ideas what to do now?

What orange wires are these? On the walmart harness or the car's harness?
And by CD dimmer wire you mean a wire on the CD player or the dimmer wire in the car harness?
Yes the two orange wires come from walmart harness and yes dimmer wire from cd player

Well you'll have to look at the wiring diagram or instructions that came with the Walmart harness and your CD player as to what those wires are for, and where to connect them. There's no standard as to wire colors. Also the polarity is crucial. Some radio/CD wires connect to a positive source to turn on the illumination lamps while others connect to a negative source. The Mitsubishi dimmer connects to ground (aka negative) to turn the lamps on - so the +12v goes to one side of the lamps and the other side of the lamps goes to the dimmer which connects it to ground.

Any idea why my instruments lights and hvac lights are out still checked fuses dimmer switch still can't find out why lights aren't working

maybe check the wires to see if u are getting power and didn't just fry something (not fuse wise but maybe circuit board wise), also maybe try unhooking those 2 orange wires and see if u can get them working again. theory is if it worked before the wires were hooked up then it should work with them disconnected again...

My cluster lights only work on speedo and fuel guage side i have cleaned all connectors on circuit ribbon because no lights worked now only one side lights up with dimmer

i never connect the orange wires (illumination, dimmer) on the adapter harness. never had a problerm as most aftermarket decks have a setting to change the brightness.

so have you checked all the bulbs on the gauge cluster to make sure none of them are burned out?
replacement bulbs should be a 74

Sent it off to be converted to led seems like its not getting enough power as lights get dimmer as they move toward driver side was told to use a fuse larger than 10 amp but not sure if it would help or be safe

LED requires far less voltage than a halogen bulb, it's definitely not a 'lack of power' issue. I would contact the vendor that did the LED conversion as it sounds like something wasn't wired properly.

if tanin auto did the conversion for you, should have a 5yr warranty
