Hello everyone,

I write from France because I have a problem with my GST eclipse of 1996.
The last time I took it, I had a fuel cut when I accelerated.
She had never done it to me, it was the first time.

This morning when I started to work, down a climb, I accelerated and this time, the engine had several symptoms:
- Turbo shutdown: No more turbo, impossible to accelerate above 2000rpm
- Missed ignition: The engine speed was normally up to 2000 rpm, but after impossible to accelerate, as if something was stuck in the exhaust.
- No CEL Code.
- Idle was dropping, sometimes the car even stalled when I restarted!
- AFR gauge told me that the engine was much too rich (10 - 1) while I am usually at 14.7 - 1

The spark plugs are new, the wires too.

To go home, I unplugged the MAF.
The car did not turn any better, it was impossible to accelerate fast, but at least the engine stopped stalling.

Any ideas from where my problem may come from?
Thank you :)

Do a boost leak test sounds like a huge leak

Correct. You have an air leak after the mass air flow sensor, before the throttle body.

With the mass air flow sensor unplugged, the manifold absolute pressure sensor gives the computer more accurate readings and keeps the car running.

Normally these sensors work together, however when there is a boost leak or air leak the two sensors send the ECU bad information. The ECU prefers the mass air flow sensor reading so that's why the car runs bad

Hi ! It was one of the silicon couplers of my intercooler
Dawn it was terrible, how the car shut down OMG

Its a good idea to go around and tighten couplers at least once a month until they don't loosen up anymore. When you get up over 40lbs of boost, those things balloon out like you wouldn't believe, so on my profile car, I check the couplers often, even keep a ratchet and tools in the car to do it. Lucky for me, my DSM's are on speed density so if I blow a coupler, I am just a plain N/A 4 cylinder and it doesn't quit running on me.
Glad you found your problem!!! :thumb:
