GVR4 hx35 max Rpm ?

So I have a built 2.0 with full e85 fuel system on v3 SD. I am running fp manifold, 7 blade hx35 with bep .55 housing, 272 cams, stock intake, 2.5" intercooler piping. It's running great just thought it would pull higher up top.ax boost about 4000 Rpm, 32 psi, but power falls off pretty hard at about 6700, boost is steady though, just like it runs out of air because fuel goes rich...is this because the 55 housing??

Sounds like you have other contributing factors, I doubt the .55 housing is cutting airflow at 6700 rpms. Are you sure it's not in the tune where is starts to get rich? What A/F are you seeing?
 
Ya I leaned it out some up top in the rpm range. Before I leaned it out with the SD table it was dipping into high 10's with e85 and breaking up. Going to pull some more out and see if it pulls higher. I have already done blt a few times and nothing. Running an external mvs 38mm wg.
 
the .55ar housing is a restriction on the holsets. although ive seen most people get in the 7000rpm range before power falls off. that small of a housing dont expect much more than that though.

I have a .55 housing on a 7 blade hx40 and boost climbs past 5k and I have to turn my duty cycles down the higher my RPM is to compensate. and that .55 housing is a choke point for my turbo, not so much on an hx35.

I'd be willing to bet if he is internally gated and running an MBC that those two will cause issues with boost control.

hes not internally gated though and hes not having boost control issues. power is falling off after 6700rpm. and yes the .55 chokes on a hx35.
 
Ya I'm not having boost issues, it holds 31-32 psi all the way through the pull. External mvs gate and manual boost controller

Sorry, at work. Missed the boost being steady part and the external. That's odd then. I've had zero issues with my setup and between the two of us a 7 blade 40 should have a much more significant choke than a 35. I don't think that's to blame.
 
The hx40 works better in the small housing because the turbine is so much bigger.

The only bolt on housing I’ve used, (and I’ve used them all) that works like a similar size t3 or t4 housing is the fp30 hotside. Even the 8cm housings the red and black come in are a joke.
