Absolutely terrible news!!
Joe was a great and valuable resource and ambassador for our community, awesome YouTuber, and seemed to be genuinely even better of a person.
Going to binge watch some of his older videos, upset we won't get to see him go further in his journey, selfishly.
But...
Agree they do have useful tips for swapping to a auto, I did the reverse swap so i have a slightly differant perspective .
This pic is basically a swap out of a gsx except for the trans cooler that now I have to dig out and clean as well good catch :thumb:
Unfortunately it's only in the cluster for a auto the manual clusters have those lights blocked off so if you wanted that you would need to swap the harness and cluster
Or just go aftermarket and get urself a gauge to make sure you don't overheat.
Trans cooler is one I forgot about
Rear mount...
That's what I did, I used a gst that was rotting away for all the small things and bought a trans transfer and rear from @jersygsx off here. Unfortunately shipping those kind of items is not a simple process. Ill shoot you a message as i do have basically an entire swap I'm listing shortly from...
Marty is definitely the expert in these over me but sorry that one I had for sale just sold. They are definitely the way to go tho if doing the swap unless your scared of wiring, but honestly could be done in a evening or less. There is a thread on all 2g dsm engine bay connectors that is...
So I just completed a manual swap in My 95 gsx. So just doing opposite of what I did.
You need the front axles along with intermediate, if u get a rear that matches your current setup(lsd vs nonlsd) you keep your current axles.
You need the passenger side mount and brackets along with rear...
Brand new Forced Four Smart 150 TCU. Never installed, preloaded software for a W4A33 Auto trans. This was optioned for no TCU in car
Includes everything to run your GSX in place of a factory TCU. Full 24 inch harness and USB cable to connect to, along with paperwork and install instructions...
Similar on a 2g mine feels much more responsive immediately. Real reason I did mine was to create space in engine bay, but don't regret it as it feels much more direct to throttle, miniscule amount, but noticeable.
Just remember replace what you can while it's out of the car like gaskets and seals, cost sucks but oem and it'll save you 30 headaches down the road...it's only like 700 between timing and basic seals but we'll worth the results!
Literally did this swap a month ago in my 95 gsx and been driving it daily since. What they say is true, really simple swap honestly and well worth the piece of mind
Well first, the 1 I suggested is not a reman it is a new unit. Also my high is 14.5, generally around 14.1 but I also replaced every wire in engine bay to do with the alt circuit, and am pushing 15 extra volts compared to stock alt so I expect mine a touch higher then stock. I also run hid's...
